Which BOV?

I am looking into which BOV is the best one for me. I want the best quality and also the loudest one. I am looking at the APEX'i, the HKS, and the GReddy type S. Please give me your feedback on any of those and feel free to take the poll. Thanks alot.

I believe that the TurboXS is the loudest, could be wrong though. I think I will be going with the Blitz though because I only hear good things about it.

I received bad feedback about the quality, but was told it was the loudest. Quality is the most important factor in any product I buy so I cut it from the list unless it was just an isolated incident.

I'm a huge fan of Tial stuff. I have there 40mm wastegate and the construction is awsome. Plus it's made in america.

I have the APEXi one.

The APEXi one is quiet. I can barely hear it...but it totally depends on how much boost you put out, if you put out 15 psi of boost, I am sure it would get louder.

Made in America stuff? I buy Japanese parts for a Japanese car thank you. I like my HKS because its a very high quality piece, plus its different from the rest: A whistling instead of the wooosh. Its a toss up between the Blitz Super Sound or the Turbo XS Type H as to which is the loudest. We'll have to have a sound competition, that would make a good video.

Amen

I just got a Tial BOV for my 20B a few weeks ago. It looks like it is made better than any other brand that I have seen, and I can hardly wait to try it out. On the downside, it will only vent to the atmosphere and therefore can't be used as a TBV for those who have cars with an AFM, although Tial's web page states that a TBV add-on will be available soon. Also, I don't see any way to adjust it other than changing out springs, which may or may not be a problem depending on how it works out of the box. We will see.

I have never heard anything bad about the Blitz BOV. On the other hand, this forum is the only place where I have known anybody who actually liked the TurboXS BOV - they must be dealers or something.

The BOV's in the RX-7 store are good, although I know one person who had trouble with the HKS SSBOV on his 400+ HP 13B-REW, and ditched it for a GReddy TypeR which worked great.

What would you recommend for a hybrid turbo (60-1 hifi cold side, stock hot side) running up to 18 pounds of boost? I was thinking about the Tial, but does anyone have recommendations?

I happen to like my turboXS type "H". I really like the loudness, and it seems to be an attention getter while I'm accelerating. I'm getting rid of my Greddy IC and thus the bov is going with it so I'm in the market for a new one. I actually inherited an HKS racing type II BOV... but I think it may be too big for street application. THoughts? Any word on the loudness of the Tial units?

Hey are you going to be selling your BOV then? If so how much would you want for it and how old is it? Anyways, where can you buy it from?

Here is a basic BOV review with sound files which I borrowed from one of the other import sportscar sites. Good luck getting the sound files to play or download, though.

I really did mean 18psi, but only at the track while using race gas.
Any ideas?

My turbo XS went with IC, which is shipping today. I got it from rx7.com and I've seen them before at carparts.com. As for the Tial loudness, I can handle less noise. The name speaks for itself and if it's quiet then I'll deal with it. Quality over volume, although my XS was really nice and I know BDC is running one with is 400RWHP+ car just fine.

If you're going with a "universal" BOV, you'll need to buy a matching mounting flange.&nbsp The stock FC turbo doesn't adapt well to welding a mounting flange anywhere easily - there's the turbo splitter pipe right after the turbo, but it's cast aluminum (i.e. pain in the *** to weld to)...

You're much better off getting a "kit"...
