I use to have a Greddy valve , and thought it was obnoxious, not cuz of the volume, but because it whistled not wooshed. I now have a turbo XS RFL, and they arent kidding it is REALY loud. Rumoured to be the loudest at my local drag strip. I dont know what to judge as for quality, it came unscathed in the mail, and hasent broken yet! Also the Apexi unit is infact very quiet, and IMO the TIAL BOV is an aluminum work of art as far as appearance goes.

stay with stock. cause the stock one vents back into the intake and aftermarket one vent to the atmosphere. which will cause you to run rich between shifts. unless you go with a senquental BOV which vents back into the intake. thats what i would do. i learned that from Gill at pettit Racing and Rodger at Japtrix here in FL. and they know what they are talkin about. everyone has heard of pettit racing.for the people who dont know about japtrix they are a rotary specilist in east Fl. they have a 10 sec FC i wish i could have seen that but i got to see the bonzi edition instead

Why would anyone want one of those loud bov's??? When you make yourself wistle, its because you are closing your mouth to allow air to turbulate and vibrate making you whistle. Thats pretty much what an aftermarket BOV does, especially the louder, pulsing, whistling ones. I can just imagine what a strain on the turbo that causes which is why I use a stock BOV off of a Porsche. Its a Bosch and they are only like 30 bux. Vent quick and have a nice day!!

GOING DOWN!!

I have a Turbo XS type S with two washers in it, and my mom can hear it a block away sitting inside the house over her TV. And that's only revving sitting still, not moving. I'm quite happy with it, I sort of ghetto rigged it up, but it works quite well, and the price was definatly good for what I recieved, I thought the quality was quite well too, however I think they could've used a little better method for holding the flanges they include (for welding to the connecting pipe) to the BOV itself. I just used some hose to connect it to my connecting pipe instead of welding, works good for me so far.

I've heard the TurboXS RFL (really ****** loud) *really what it stands for* And it is ungoldly loud. My friend has it on his MR2 running 16psi.

Yes, it is loud. But I think the sound is terrible. It sounds like screetching tires. blah...

I also was told you are supposed to vent back into the intake on an S4 car. Well, I emailed Rotary Performance and they told me there is specific kits made for that model year and it would be fine to do.

I was told by some one else you can ajdust a screw on the air sensor (i think it was the air sensor) to solve this problem.

A S-AFC I was also told would fix the problem...

I just got a TurboXS Type H last nite (thats the big one 10-25 PSI). I will let you all know how it sounds when i get it installed.

How does a S-AFC fix the venting issue? I will be venting to the atmosphere.. but I also will have a S-AFC.

Well, a BOV's intention isn't to make you go faster really....

But if you want something good, just get a big name brand then.

Apexi is not one of the best to me. I had an Apexi and I was running 12-14psi, and it was not loud at all. It was adjustable and I adjusted to be the loudest but damn, I regret not getting the blitz or the greddy. NOT APEXI if you want loudness.

ahh, i cant decide now..thanks for bringing the thread back up now im confused about which one i want to get.

My brother has the Apexi one and it sounds incredibly nice even though its not exceptionally loud. I want something that sounds more towards the TSHHH sound with NO whistling. Does the blitz sound like that (i couldnt really tell from the crappy sound files on that page)

the rfl is insanely loud. its really f'in loud at 16, ya its even crazier at 26 psi, its definatly something to hear. looking at designs the hks looks the best but everyone says it doesnt work good, i know those godzilla bovs are on those pro 5.0 cars which run like low 6 sec e.ts around 220mph

I got a Turbo XS BOV type S for my GLH-S many many years ago for free.. They gave it to me as a beta tester for on my type of car..

Now this came from them.. My GLH-S can run up to 34 psi with hybrid turbo.. now everyone know the type S is only good for like 12 psi.. that is complete bull crap.. The type S is fully adjustable and I have added up to 12 washers and the bov has held up to 20 psi with no failure..

So what I am saying is the Type S is the cheapest, but it seems to be the best design and has no limit on the amount of boost it can hold.

Its also the loudest BOV I have ever heard in my life.

I bought a JDM S-15 Silvia bov from ebay and it came with piping that fit perfect between the turbo and stock ic. I payed 46.00 and took it apart and pollished it with steel wool and a little bit of mothers and it looks brand new. It took a couple of runs down the road and it was set perfect. The sumbitch is so load that my dog **** in the seat.
