Yeah, I did this, and it takes a long time, and the dust/fumes that come off of the material your breaking up. Most likely are harmdull!
Why don't you just buy a streetable header and presilencer from raceing beat? It will be MUCH better, and save you lots of time!

yeah, I used a screw driver on mine, I'll warn you now, theres a bar going through the middle you wont see until your done, so when you bang and stuff wont move, it's prolly the bar, so it gets annoying. good luck, it only took me like 20 minutes to take it off,gut it, and put it back on

get a knife or scalpel, slice it open, and rip the **** out!
How are you gonna cut steel with a knife???
And if you did that, you would have to have a welder to seem it back together.
And as for the people that can't break the bolts loose, use PB blaster, and a pry-bar, but the pry-bar on the end of the rachet, and pull. Worst comes to worst, you'll twist the stud out of the cat. So I suggest useing LOTS of PB blaster, and letting it soke for a good couple of hours!
ANd unless your cats are clogged your really not going to gane hardly anything from doing this.

If the nuts just strip on the cat, get a chissel and split them in half, then goto home depot and buy new nuts. (or you can heat them with a torch) Get a big screw driver and a hammer and bang the honeycomb stuff out, then pry up the wire mesh and pull that out with plyers.
Now you don't need the smog pump, but your 5/6 ports wont open. I'd reattach the pipe on the cat so you don't have an exhaust leak there.
Take the small tube that connects to the big metal air pipe and disconnect it. Look at your air control vavle. There is two hoses connecting to it. One comes from the airpump, the other goes to a long hose that goes to a silencer. Drill a hole in the hose that goes toward the fender. Now take your hose that came off the air pipe and stick it in the hole you drilled. Then seal it off with epoxy and superglue. Then grease your accutators up with an anti-rust lubricant (do not use WD-40!)
You now gained a few HP. I did this, but decided to ditch the pre-cats and go with a pacesetter. Nice, loud, and makes a few ponies.

I said "Get a knife or scalpel, cut it open, and rip the **** out!" -- this was a JOKE! "Cats" -- I was thinking it would be funny, but you guys are too damn close minded... haha
