Hi guys, I've been hesitating posting this by doing my search, but my time is a bit short on the moment and because I can't find much about this issue that I have and I'm gutting about having my FC running (it's stopped since 2011/12) and it has to run before december or my plates are cancelled here in my country (because if the car hasn't an inspection in 5 years in spite of paying taxes, on the 5y limit it cancels automatically and after you spend more money, time and paperwork, things that everyone wants to avoid everywhere in the world I think).
I have an S4 TII, the engine broke down and instead of getting it opened, It cost me less to get another engine from the UK... now the issue is on the wiring because of the connections and the size... the wiring from the UK is lacking short to get to the interior to the ECU... and does the ECU from the S4 fits the S5? the connections are different?! what to do?!
here's a picture of what it's there right now...
this is without... see how much wiring more is missing?!
I wanted to avoid the Facebook groups because sometimes it's such a mess and although there's good guys trying to help, there's also the other side being jerks....
There are several differences between the series, the ECU is different, the wiring harness is different, the emissions control is different, the turbos are different, the OMP is different, it may be easier for you to swap your turbo and front cover with OMP onto the new motor that way you can still utilize your ECU and wiring harness while you're at it clean up all the ground points on the motor and body harness this will save you headaches down the road
GL
The easiest way would be to swap everything from the old S4 engine to the new S5 short block. That includes the wiring harness that you are concerned about. All the other wiring appears to be there.
As noted above, many parts are different between S4 and S5. Everything should swap over from the S4 block with the exception of the Oil Metering Pump on the front cover. Easiest solution is keep the S4 ecu and just bolt on the S5 OMP. Run some premix in the fuel until you get it sorted out.
Had a few set backs, I had to post pone the build =/
(I lack of a work area, income/job and things aren't getting bright, I just want to finnish studies and get a job assap.)
But I'm feeling that this is the year...
Hi guys, so I got news! (it took a long time I know)
got news some are good and others are bad...
the good ones first...
it went from this!!! (rat nest deleted, although it still appears in the picture, I was sorting out the vacuum lines and its schemes I found here and there)
to this! It's all assembled and...
I know, I still have a few mods to do...
Also did it's brakes (new EBC ones) + pads (Yellow stuff)
Got a new exhaust
this bastard finally is home and...
the bad news -> not running again.. It runned like 4km = 2 and a half miles then it just shut down and never got back up again... I tried a few times with it cold but nothing...
I think I've burnt or messed up my ECU because I didn't deleted the OMP properly (but I'm still in doubt because I have an S4 TII and this is an S5 engine, but maybe I didn't connected the right plugs.. still in doubt)
so I've sold my soul to the devil and bought this!
So it will be back to the start... I'll be opening a new thread(?) and post many more stuff there...
although the FC will be stopped again because I'm having some (electrical) issues starting the car, it cranks differently occasionally, some times it cranks with so much strength other times it's more like it doesn't want to crank at all (and the starter is new!)
And I want to gather more parts (although I have a few good ones some documented others, are not, because sometimes the more you show the more you are likely to be a target for thieves and I worked a lot and hard to get this parts and most of them, if not all(ok maybe not all parts, just recalled on a set of RE Amemyia I bought recently near me), I imported ), take all down, paint the car, treat the rust spots (let's not kid, it's a 30 year old car it has to have some rust somewhere) then let's be wild and assemble it all....
I just want it running, after that, maybe upgrade little by little since one of the most expensive investments is already done! (the haltech - had to import that, customs smiled at me an rape my wallet off)
Also my E30 (3 door 318is) project is almost done so I'm a bit more focused on this because I'm carless ...
