TN ATF trick?

Well was talking to a friend of mine the other day and e said something about the ATF trick. Something about pouring ATF in where the spark plugs go to clean the engine. What do yall think about this?

don't do it if you interested in cleaning your engine out. Then use the water treatment. If you car runs then do this https://www.rx7club.com/general-rotary-tech-archive-76/water-instead-atf-decarboning-33778/. If it doesn't run because of carbon pour marvel mystery oil or sea foam in to the engine from the bottom spark plug hole.

You know what cleans an engine out? Disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly.

ATF is useless for this. If you really want to run something through your engine, use a product designed for this purpose. Most good auto parts stores sell EFI intake cleaner which is designed to loosen deposits from the intake tract and engine seals.

Honestly though, in my opinion, it's a useless waste of time. I've never performed any of these "tricks" on any of my rotary cars and they all continue to run just fine...

Some people will give evidence that the engine dramatically improved because of these "tricks", but a new set of plugs is easier, cheaper and will probably fix the problem (the tricks are cleaning the plugs more then the engine).

the "trick" you are thinking of is a shady method of unflooding a rotary. Its supposed to help the apexes seal better and also flush out the excess gas. Its really not that good for your engine to do this. I would try the sea foam my past experiences with it have been good

It's not a "shady" way of unflooding a rotary. It actually was an old trick used to free up stuck apex seals. Whether it works or not is debated now and again by every rotary forum.
My opinion is when your engine is already dead, and you think it is a stuck apex seal, then what's the harm. Seafoam probably works just as well.
To each his own.

I agree with hanman. To unflood your engine is totally different by removing spark plugs plug egi fuse and so on and so on. I was told that the water treatment worked really well. It got rid of all the carbon and did not hurt the engine at all.

The ATF kills the oil seals. Some people I believe didn't have a problem but they had luck on there side.

Seafoam and Marvel Mystery oil works fine even on the bottle it says free's up carbon build up.

I know I don't know more than aaron but I can tell you not to use ATF.
