SEARCHED: Fuel pump rewire question!

Ok, so I searched. I couldn't find any archived walkthrough for a fuel pump rewire.

I found though that if you have a TII swap on an NA chassis that you dont need to rewire it...Is that right? Even on S4s?

Also, I saw that another way of getting constant voltage to the fuel pump is to upgrade to an FD or S5 alt...Is that right?

If both assumption above are wrong, can anyone suplly me with a fuel pump rewire for an S4 TII on an S4 NA Chassis?

I have a walbro if it needs to be said.

Thanks!

Spec.

check voltage on the blue wire on the fuel pump connector. It is blue on the rear harness side and then changes to a black/white wire as it goes into the pump. You probably don't need to rewire your fuel pump, but if you think the voltage is low and decide to anyway, you can wire your fuel pump the way I wired mine in this thread (see my modified diagram): https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/pics-my-overkill-fuel-pump-rewire-732904/

just disregard the part about the resistor relay. you don't need to jumper any wires or anything.

get a relay and wire it up like so:

85 terminal : chassis ground
86 terminal : stock pump wire. it is blue on the rear harness side of the connector (driver side rear shock tower) and black/white on the fuel pump side. cut that wire and put the side coming from the front of the car into the relay
87 terminal: wire straight from the battery.
30 terminal: use fuel pump side of the stock fuel pump wire you just cut.

The fact that it's an NA chassis is irrelevant. If you're using a TII ECU, you need to add the resistor/relay for the 2-speed fuel pump system. Otherwise you're running the pump at full speed all the time and just wasting gas.

Also, I saw that another way of getting constant voltage to the fuel pump is to upgrade to an FD or S5 alt...Is that right?
No, completely wrong. The alternator has nothing to do with it.

Here's the wiring diagram for the rewire.

If you're using the TII harness the wiring you need is there. If you're not you'll need to run a wire from the correct pin on the ECU to the resistor relay (pin D).
