i did some lookin around and weight reduction is now my ONLY priority. thats just way too much dough to gain a few horses on the na motor. the racing beat page says for 600 bucks i can get 5-7 hp more with their exhaust system. what a great deal i thought to myself. might as well start savin up for that rx8 now. thanks ro..

haha, welcome to owning an NA FC. I dropped 6-7k on my car already and it only puts down 170 to the wheels. Then again, my car's not about all-out power.

A little more than double that for me...

My FC Love story... LOL

I moved to this crappy little town in PA from SA, TX my senior year of H.S. I ended up getting expelled from my hs in TX and opt'd to go live with my grandparents for a year rather than go to Alternative school.

My cousin was staying in the same town temporarily before his deployment in the USAF. He had this sweet *** white car I'd never seen before. It had 16' 6-spoke chrome rims and all this neon lite **** on the inside. He needed to sell it ASAP. I had been in town only a month and had very little cash. So I took the car for the test drive and hit 90 mph in a 30 (not realizing I was going so fast). This was my first taste of the turbo. Then we were approaching a red light. I was so full of adreniline, I didnt even see the red light. My Cousin yells "LOOK OUT" so i slam on the breaks (doing 50 at this point) and we stop just short of the middle of the intersection. Very lucky he just had the break pads changed.

I borrowed some $ from some family and bought the car. (yes I trashed all the neon lights he had inside) It sat for most of the winter up there, although I was able to take it out a few times here and there. I couldnt wait for the snow to go away. In the mean time I fixed the sunroof, radio bezel and other trim pieces. When spring came, the car was CHERRY. To this day, I've never seen another FC as clean as this one (i mean stock condition of course). I mean, orig paint, interior, stock motor... the thing was nice.

I drove it back to SA when summer came. Nice drive BTW. I took it around town and showed my buddies. They were all stoked. I took the car to the local spots almost every weekend for couple years and never really did much aftermarket work to the car. Exhaust, intake, turbo timer... thats about it.

After my first year of college I came to the harsh realization that I was not as fortunate as some of my wealthier classmates, and had to make some choices. I mean, my car was clean, but I dropped about 3-400 on it monthly.

So i traded it in for a 200sx SE-r (big disappointment). But it was a reliable cruiser to and from school. I always said I was getting another one once I finished college... So I did

I'm sure you've all seen parts of the progress on that one from time to time.. but just in case,

Came from a Honda family. Wanted something reliable and cheap to get from point A to point B. Looked at some reliability ratings, but I got all the 323's and other numbers all mixed up. Saw a couple Mazdas at lien sale auction, bought an RX-7. Lucky for me, it turned out to be cheap and reliable. A few weeks after that, I stopped driving 5mph under the speed limit...

your car has always been one of my favorites. (white and clean) but i've never got a chance to see it around town. I'm around the fountain valley/hb area at times but mostly reside in westminster and irvine

because i was sitting in the computer lab w/my buddy who worked there (i was between classes), and we began talking about cars and what we each liked. at the time he owned a fb, and took me out to see it. i wasn't completely impressed (im not a huge 1st gen fan, in terms of looks), but what wow'ed me was when we began discussing the engine. the dynamics of how much simpler it was began to peak my interest, but i wasn't convinced.

he was in a collision in that car, and had to get a new one (still has it, as the motor is still good). after a short stint with a 280z, he found an fc relatively cheaply ($1500) w/120k miles on it. that was the first time i saw an fc up close and got to drive any rotary-powered car. it was then i knew that i would have my own fc.

7 months go by and then i find it...87 na, 126k miles, talked the guy down to $800 (because it had a slight overheating problem) from $1200. it's had its share of issues that i'm working on, but i love it

Fell in love with the design of th rotary at age ten. My uncle had a gold fb that rarely ran, but when it did he took me for a ride and I fell in love. After that I promised myself I would get an Rx7. So time went bye, I graduate high school and get married. I move closer to work and my wifes cousin (who we are hanging out with more regularly). Yada, yada, yada my wifes cousin's husband's cousin has his s5 tII sitting in his uncle's garage. (wife's cousins husband's dad) I know complicated. Anyway it has been sitting for three years due to ABS leaking, no brakes. I buy it for a grand. Remove the ABS, change the oil, fill up the gas, installed a battery and drove it around the block. Been loving and fixing it (previous owner beat the crap out of it) for the past two years.

there was a guy drifting a modified crx that was still fwd in the professional circuits for awhile.

Yes yes, "*** dragging" I know.

Anyway, I traded my 72 240z rolling chassis for a very clean white 91 NA RX7 with black interior, only problems were an engine that doubles as a water fountain, and a bent up drivers side fender.

So ... +30mm fenders and a 13b-t coming.

Yeahh.

Oh, and I got my 87 as my first project car, and ended up getting yet another project car right afterwards(a 97 BMW M3) and lost interest, and ended up giving it to a friend. It's still in pieces in his yard.

In the 70's and 80's I had several MGs and Triumphs and then I got married and had two kids. No money for extra cars. Five years ago I wanted to get back into having a toy to play with on the weekends and get my hands dirty with again. The British cars are either total rust buckets or have been restored. I wanted to find a sports coupe or vert that needed restored/repaired. A son of a friend had a '89 NA for $800 that was complete but needed TLC (and a AFM) to run correctly. A year later my daughter's boyfriend was selling his family's '89 vert and I added that to the mix. Now I have more projects than I have time again.
It is said that a man repeats mistakes until he learns from them. I am a slow learner.

My uncle bought the car at John Hine over there off the 8 Fwy here in San Diego in 1986 where my grandpa just retired from being the auto painter there for just about 30 years. Just about 10 years ago my Dad bought the car from him and my grandpa painted it, for about 2k and drove until about 2 yrs. ago when the car hit 170,000mi. and blew a coolant seal. I was driving a 6cyl. jeep a the time and remeber how much fun the 7 was to drive compared to the slow *** jeep. So, my dad says i can have the car if i can get it running again. So, I bought a used motor and about 2 weeks later and I'm driving an FC daily. She's got about 193,000mi. as of now, and love to drive it. I still have the original sticker off the window from the dealer, pretty fun to look at.

He was in D1 for a long time. Not sure what he's doing now. Could've sworn it was a CRX though and not a civic.

hmm my story behind me getting a seven was. When i was 15 me and my older brother was playing a video game and he chose a Skyline and I was like o0o this white car looks sexy. It turned out to be a Rx7 FC3S i started doing search on the car and fell in love with it. I told all my friends before I turn 20 (witch is today =) ) I would own a rx7. I found on in south NJ for 850 for a N/A 86 Sport. I called that very day and told him I would buy it the next day. The car was garaged kept, engine clean, and interior mint. I nearly cried. Now im a happy seven owner and i wouldn't trade her for anything.

Not knowing anything about them, I bought the repair manual months before buying the car Does that tell ya something? I still had no idea how it worked.

My friends told me to buy it, so I did, it was the best experience ever and I would never think I made a wrong decision.

I had an accident in my 98 S14 and i was in the market for an FD. But after much debate i just picked up an FC over the FD for various reasons. My first rotary car, love it and hate it.

She is back... she's been running for about 5 months now. My latest problem is emissions. I need to pass to get my plates...

I've been tuning like crazy and getting to know the MoTeC.

My FC love story from an older thread.

A couple of months later, my job sends me to Ohio to cover a sporting event(Buckeyes) and I stopped at a mall near Ohio State for some toiletries. Inside the mall there was the typical shopping mall car show going on with various cars scattered around the halls. I was casually looking around when something caught my eye. WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? Imagine the reaction. No magazine articles, no commercials, no spy photos, no nothing. And then WHAM!!!! What a beautiful machine! Of course it was love at first site-and I had a job! Of course the dealers had lied. The FC went public and I bought the GXL.
Cut now to the 21st century, my FC had been mothballed for almost ten years due to personal BS, and now she's back on the road. Less than 70k on the odo, and almost cherry. In all these years the simple, clean elegance of this machine is still holding up quite well to the new "developments" over the years.
Oh the pain that Honda Ricer must have felt when I crushed his a** with a 17 year old bone stock 7.

I couldn't get over how smooth the car ran compared to everything else of the day

Then three years ago one appeared at the gas station across the street
a pristine black on black 1990 GTU, 5spd, the AC even worked (still does)
after the first 10 seconds of driving it I knew I needed it and what her function in my life would be - so the BMW 325is was kicked out of autocrossing duty and moved to DD

This is the first car I have ever owned I felt I could actually work on (short of rebuilding the engine)
everything is laid out so the owner can work on it
I've done everything in my gravel driveway with just a set of handtools

I had an FD for about a year, brought it back to life and sold for a tidy profit. I loved that car BUT it never felt like I could work on it properly without a garage and a full set of power tools

and recently I've added a 91 Coupe to the collection (which includes a 90 Miata, the only car easier to work on than a FC - both Mazda's go figure)

Quick Reply: why did you buy a 2nd gen rx7?
