I loved the rx7 ever since 8th grade. All my other friends made fun of them because how unreliable they are(8th graders sure master mechanics ), but I didn't care. At first I wanted the FD, it being the first rx7 I saw and thought it was a beautiful car, but then I found the FC and I was even more amazed. I've been reading about them ever since, and finally picked up my first fc this year.
Ryosuke also didn't help the situation, or maybe he did.

cuz I can't afford a FD. Not to mention that FC's are more easy to find and in turn are easier to find parts for. I also have a strange fetish for late 80's/early 90's Japanese sports cars.

i bought mine because it has super sexy lines, and the rotary engine is a true rarity in the world of today. and i didn;t want to be lookad at as a 'ricer' for buying a 3rd gen FD... i love the FD too, so don;t get me wrong. it's just too associated with the fast and the furious movie
the balance is amazing in every way of this car too. the smooth power delivery s very controlable at any level of grip. and after i replaced all the bushings it is the most precise handling car i have ever driven, even more so than the Ferrari 360, or the Porsche 993 C2S.

ill be honest,im only 18 and the first time i ever saw a 7 was in FnF i thought that was the sickest car....then i forgot all about it and i was reintroduced to it in Initial D. i still wanted the FD so i looked it up...autotraders.com
first impression....holy **** thats alot!!
i was disapointed, with my **** job i could never make 15k and up. so i said to myself...**** it i want to own an rx7....so i looked up the FC, i saw the prices and it looked possible.
a year passed wasnt sure if i could do it...thast plus there wasnt any close enough to my state that i could afford. finaly i found one....we drove all the way up to the middle of NY.
at the time i couldnt drive stick, but i didnt care. my grandfather test drove it with me....man!!! that thing hauled ***!!!!(my grandfather is a cool dude by the way, he drives faster than me) i fell in love!! I wanted it bad!
my mom forced me to wait, we got them to drop the price...paid 3k for it...alot of
people tell me that was to much for an 87 n/a base....but i dont care nor am i ashamed....for a 20 year old car that thing has the strongest engine ive seen, great compression on a factory engine with only 79k on the car
its sad to say this was my second choice...becasue of how much i love the car. it just grows on you, everyday. the more you look at it, the better it looks.
i may be young, but i respect my car, i wish i was old enough to have bought it from the show room, i go to youtube and see the old comercials and i always smile.
you can take rice and street races and stick it up your ***! this is my car and i use it to cruse....only time you will ever catch me really speeding is if im lat or i need to get somewere fast

I'm not gonna lie. I first started taking notice of Rx7s a couple years back while watching Initial D. I didn't have the opportunity to understand the 7 until a year ago. I was working at a tire and oil shop and had a non running 89' 240sx hatch sitting in the back. I was approached by a coworkers friend for a trade offer. I was to give him $450 cash and the 240sx and he would give me his 88' Rx7 GXL. I was skeptical at first. The paint was faded, hail dents littered the car, wheels were hideous. I test drove the bucket of metal for no other reason then to drive someone else's car fast. All it took was one loop around my shop and my mind was blown. The exhaust tone was ringing in my ears for days. Being as I got the 240sx for free, I earnestly scrounged up the $450 he had requested. Since then I have fallen in love with second generation Rx7s. I still have the $450 bucket of metal and am currently upgrading my suspension with various performance parts. I also now own an 86' base model and a 90' convertible. My wallet may be empty, but there's a smile on my face.

BECAUSE...Its lighter than a mk3 supra and about the same price, CHEAP. Has more potential all around because of the weight. RWD!TURBO! Best looking cheap turbo import! Fits my budget meets all of my standards for performance! I'm in love.

7 reasons why I chose the 7:
1. German technology combined with Japanese fine tuning ( best of both worlds)
2. Smells great and even sticks to my clothing.
3. Gorgeous when lowered.
4. Sounds like no other.
5. Turned me into mechanic.
6. White paint never looked so good on a car.

I was tired of my front wheel drive civic wagon. I wanted a car with rear wheel drive that that had storage room, so my ideal car, the 1993 Mr2 was not an option. The 240sx, Mrk 3 Supra, Rx7, 300zx, and FC were all fair game in my book. As an aspiring mechanical engineer, I have had many ideas to try out on a turbocharged engine, so, I dropped the 240sx from the list as I didnt want a SR swap. The 300zx was next to be taken off the list, since the engine was a pain to work on. After that, driving a Mrk 3 Supra around, realized it was really heavy compared to the Fc. At that point the turbo rotory engine appealed to me that much more.
I then flew to south Cali to visit my girlfriend and drove my '86 Sport nonstop back to Washington. Within a year and after I was comfortable with the new rear wheel drive platform, so I had Corksport perform a complete turbo swap. Since then I've attended a season of autocross and have learned much about the dynamics of these cars. I will start to experiment on my engine after I purchase my next house and decide upon a car for realestate.

I became interested because my uncle had a 1st and 2nd gen, and his stepson had a 2nd gen as well. When I was looking for a decent car (no more $500 POS's) I found a 91 NA at Carmax for $6000 in 1997 with 58K on it. Never looked back. I was without a rotary for about 1 year since then.
Also, I'm with Ted. I can afford an FD, but why?

why me buy fc
it had to be rwd and under a couple grand. i found my 87 fc n/a for 500 bucks. it already had 4way adj. kybs + tiensprings in front and 8way adjustable kybs + tiensprings in back (i figured that alone was worth 500). i love how it sits and gets out of the gate hard and straight with no *** drop or hesitation. so far i put 500 bucks in clutch work, a set of tires, and a new differential mount. everyone i take around the block gets out scared shitless. now thats what i call fun. i think thats what these were made for way more than dragging. and i think drags are so boring compared to zipping around town taking turns way too fast. and donuts are so easy in this thing its rediculous. i cant believe its only 110-120 hp at the wheels. now im a die hard "rotary guy". ill never go back to that stinking piston. when i grow up for real im gonna get a rx8. but can anyone help me out with a couple questions?
1. im not even sure about it being a gtu. its got the 5-lug setup but doesnt say anything on the body like gxl, etc. im thinking its either the sport or gtu. is there a way to tell if its got the LSD without taking things apart? it has the posi feel to it out of the gates and while doing donuts cuz both wheels spin. but again im not sure. help.
2. what will a k&n intake really do for this car? i read on here it only really adds 2 or 3 horses. is that true?
3. whats the most cost effective way to increase hp on a 13b n/a? my first priority is weight reduction, but i will want to increase power eventually. any help is appreciated.
rotary heads unite...

-The FC was roomier and I can carry more cargo if I wanted to.
-Engine bay was much simpler than the FD, and even more simpler when the emissions were removed.
-Most wheel sizes and offsets work with the FC
-Parts were relatively cheap (Group buy for OEM FD door handles anyone?)
-Brakes were very decent considering the price of the car
The only things I wished the FC had:
-Double wishbone front and rear like the FD
-Ability to stuff 265's on all corners like the FD (Of course this can also be solved with wider fenders/overfenders )
Three FC's later, I still own all three, and I can't bring myself to sell them.
