FD transmission in FB

I'm swapping an FD engine and trans into my FB, has anyone done this

Will I need a new master cylinder from going push to pull type? If so will a fd master bolt up to fb?

The larger issue is the trans mount, since FDs don't have trans mounts. Most people use the Turbo II transmission for this reason, it's pretty much the same unit.

The slave cylinders are both 3/4" bore, so the master is probably also the same size.

i looked for a bigger slave cylinder earlier this year, but in the process i learned that every Mazda has the same clutch hydraulic sizing, which is nice.
so hydraulically, to make the FD slave connect to the FB master you just need a hose with the proper ends on it

As mentioned, your master will be fine, just get the right hose. I threw an FD trans into my MGB a couple years ago, adapting a cross style body mount to the PPF studs isn't difficult, you just need to create a Z as a step up if you want to capture both sets of studs. I suppose also you could just use the bottom two studs but I liked the idea of cradling upper and lower.

nope... Im running factory fb master and fd slave... just make sure your pedal stop is right or youll over extend the throwout and pull it outta the little cage deal... done it a few times till we figured out what was happening... as far as trans mount... make your own from some flat bar... (if you can weld...) or have a big hammer and a grinder

looking thru my build thread and came across the day it happened hahaha

for those wondering about speedo working.. you can carefully pull the FD plastic gear off the FD cable and press fit it onto the FB cable... I did it.. with my 17s and 4:.1 gears (factory gslse) my speedo is within a few mph at 70... its a little off now since adding my 8.8 I built, though gearing is the same
