The Beastie went up on storage skates yesterday; for the first time in over a year, I can now put two cars in my garage again.
She's not really in storage; she's just napping. I can have her back on the road in 20 minutes with proper motivation; pull the skates, roll up the cover, connect the battery, set the clock.
Stuff I'm working on right now doesn't require all-around-the-car access for a while, though.

Just got back from the dakotas (MI->MN->ND->MN) for a 1000 mile trip. That bumped me to 10000 miles in a year and a half on my 83 gsl and I just wanted to thank you guys for all your help. The car wouldn't be running right now without this forum.
..Not "to" my FB, but for it..
Im now halfway finished restoring a set of vintage Riken mesh I picked up here on the forum a while ago..
2 of them were slightly bent, and needed reshaping. All of them were very badly pitted, and corroded.
My fingers hurt, but this keeps me from feeling lazy sitting on the couch!
I also restored a set of stock + wheels by this method, and they look great.
Very rarely are wheels past the point of saving!! Dont paint your rims! Sand them!

^ wow, thought you were joking lol.
Anyone know if this is a good spot to pull water temp? If so, what thread size is it?
Want to order in a temp guage. Its an s5 engine.

There should be a spot on the S5 rear iron for the temp sensor, or is this for an alternative temp gauge?
EDIT: The B2000 engine is 17" from the motor mount to the top of the carb hat. and 16" long from the bell housing to the fron of the crank pulley. The motor mounts look to be the same width
The only issue is the lower radiator hose... its on the wrong side, but I'm just gonna swap the radiator with the engine.

^^I hope its gonna have twin carbies and extractors at least lol!
Installed mechanical oil pressure guage to match the boost guage i already had. Replaced all console lights with leds.
Gave her a bit of a shine up for "classic japan" tomorrow. Should be heaps of old school gold there!

looked at it a few times, remarked that its good-looking. thought briefly about washing it and doing a redneck repair on the blown speakers, but ended up feeling too lazy after thanksgiving leftovers. might do something to it tomorrow. i feel like im neglecting it a bit :P i know for sure i need to do a fluid check sooner rather than later, so might do that. one thing i have noticed is that i have a whole lot of "need to do this" and "might do that", but hardly any "i did this and that" with my car :P

Nope, sick of having to fix the thing. I'll run my current engine till it breaks again (its bound to). And replace it with an engine that runs and has never been cracked open for 250k (and will probably outlast the car).

Pulled the door speakers, door panels and rear speakers. The Bose system in the MS6 far surpasses the sound quality of the Rockford system I put in the FB, thus I don't really like listening to it any more so I'm going to sell off the stereo after I pull the amp, crossovers and deck out and buy a seat and steering wheel with the proceeds.
The door panels have been that ugly faded puke green the burgundy panels change to since before I got the car. Going with a simplistic interior so I'll replace them with some sheet aluminum. Ordered some strap door pulls from eBay.

I got my headers a little warm.

Can't figure out why, but it might have to do with the first startup being a little bit high rev. OR the out of time ignition... or whatever water or dirt divers were in the exhaust. WHo knows, but its not doing it now

Must be timming in mine too. Cause the exhaust gasket doesn't look busted (gonna get a new one anyways) and now that I've thrown the light on the engine it runs fine.
BUT MAN it got HOT!!! When stainless gets yellow... thats hot!! Good thing these aren't el-cheapo headers

last night, got home and tried to diagnose why all of a sudden it idles like poo. it stumbles and farts, almost sounds like a v8 with a cam, but revs fine. checked distributor cap, and the plastic is burnt right past the points, as if it's firing late? gonna pull the plugs tonight and see what they look like. i don't see why my timing would be out of whack for no apparent reason all of a sudden. also trying to figure out if the vacuum advance is supposed to be hooked up with a holley, or if it was just emissions related.

took that this morning
