I was loading lumber at Home Depot's covered door. A big black jacked up f 250, you guessed it with blacked out windows stopped inches before it's trailer hitch was going to impale my low rx-7, because I yelled. Motioned for the driver to role down his window. You guessed it, had a cell phone in his hand, you guessed it, sloped forehead, high cheekbones, narrow chin and you guessed it really dark skin. I bet he could really swim well and climb walls, but can't drive a truck.
With high cheekbones, narrow chin, cell phone and can't drive I was guessing a Kardashian. With good swimmer and climber I thought it was Michael Phelps. With sloped forehead it could be anybody in Alabama.
T3's little big brake kit is very interesting.
On Facebook they said it will cost a bit more than their other kits since this one involves making a hub as well. Hopefully the hub uses bigger bearings.
Their similar 240Z kit is $1000, so we can guestimate from there.
Watchknut, what kind of tranny or lever do you have? It has a strange bend and looks "foreward" in the opening. It looks great, dont get me wrong. But looks like you have a tranny swap.
That's the normal shifter for an SA22c ('79-'80). They had a direct shifter, rather than the rail shifter that the later cars had that allowed the shifter to be moved back a bit.
Have any of you guys had issues with the koni yellow turning dampener getting stuck? I tried to soften up the front yesterday. The left I was able to turn easily with the **** they provided. When I went to the right side I was not able to turn it. I tried as hard as I could with the **** it wont turn. I've read online that it can happened due to torquing down the strut too much. I also read to try to put an adjustable wrench on it and tap it lightly and then try to turn it with ****.
i have 3 Rx7's and was trying to decide which one to bring to Sevenstock, and then they announced that the 1st gen gets a 40th birthday, so that narrows it to two.
1 is a 1985 GS in Custom Silver, its completely stock, 118k, except for the paint, its really really nice. basically ready to go.
2. Peepers, 82, ex-Pro-7 car with a 12A P port. its been sitting for a while, so i needs an oil change, coolant change, a LOT of cleaning, tires, and i had pulled a carburator part for Fungus Mungus's car, and i'm not sure i assembled mine 100%.
i looked at the calendar and i figure Peepers needs about 18 hours of work (its a 1,000 mile round trip), and i have about 24 hours available so i'm going for it!
Sunday, i started cleaning, its full of leaves, like the blowers from everyone's gardener blows them into the car. i also cleaned all the junk (Fungus Mungus's stock interior) out of the back.
It was a cold autox today, and I didn't really feel like lugging my sticky tires so I just ran the Vredestein Sprint Classics. They claim to be 205 but contact patch cross section is much less. No idea if I would have been competitive with proper autox tires, probably not as it isn't really my thing, but these 13"s were slow and tons of fun to drive on. The car was dancing around on the course. I was pretty much at the limit on every corner with slight oversteer midcorner through exit and i was running 56-57 while the class leaders were down to 48. Lots of time lost on the back half of the course where the car just scrubbed speed...but I loved every second of it. I just wish autox offered more seat time for the amount of time you spend there. All day event and I logged less than 5 minutes behind the wheel.

You're there all day but at least you can talk cars with everyone, and it's about 1/10th the cost of a track day. Track time is track time.
Unlike a track day it's also an actual competition, although I say the slowest person gets the most track time so who's really winning?

I've been doing the SCCA Track Night In America events which are way more affordable than typical track days. If you can get time off in the afternoons during the week, these events basically make autox a joke. $125 for 60 minutes of hot open track time. There are 4 tracks that offer events several times a month within a few hours driving distance. You'll pay more at a good go-kart track. My struggle is I don't do autox enough to be able to pick up the course properly on the first run...or second...or third. I see the fastest guys end up within 1 second of their best time on the first run. I walked the course twice and took notes but I was shaving almost a second off every run. I had an instructor with me on several runs and by the last run he said there wasn't much time left in the car with the tires I had. Before the final run I asked him how much the tail should be kicking out, and he said as long as you're still on line, let the rear end do what it wants...that next run was 2/10th slower though. I just sent it LOL.
Though I have not been able to devote much time to my car for awhile now...just came back from 75 mile drive,looking at trees turning,enjoying an early Sunday morning drive. Just enough chill for a little heat in the car. Last time I took it out it was 92 degrees and used the ac.
Supposed to be wintry mix/snow here Tuesday,filled tank on way home with no ethanol 89 octane fuel to the neck in event this is the last drive til spring? so no worries about fuel degrading if it sits for 6 months or more,which unfortunately it has.
Side benefit of non ethanol fuel,have noticed engine runs stronger on it like it did before ethanol fuel was “available”. With temps in high 30s,”regular” gas,it was happy running thru the gears and long uphill pulls.

When I lived in NE Ohio I always put a can of Sea Foam in the tank for the long sit. Started it to a warm idle once a week till spring. Keeps it vital. Always worked for me. Down here in NC I don’t have to deal with it.
I know everyone has their rituals with storing vehicles but the only thing I do is make sure the tank is full and the battery is disconnected before I place it into climate controlled storage for 6 months. I don't bother with additives. If I have the time, I stop by every 6 weeks or so and start the vehicle, but I have skipped that and not had an issue, the occasional startup is more to circulate the fuel that's in the lines back into the tank. 6 months (indoors) isn't going to cause gasoline to turn into lacquer. Every November, I also fill two 5 gallon cans with 87 gasoline and I keep these in the garage for emergencies. We usually lose power at least once over the winter and I'll fill a few gallons into the generator when that happens. At the end of the season I drain the gas in the generator back into the cans and it takes me the entire summer to use up that gas in my lawn tractor. I've been doing this for a decade.
Mine sleeps in heated garage,never gets below 60.On battery tender,car covered.Full tank up to filler neck.Always possibility for a drive or two during winter if there's been no snow and required road salt. Here in Md they use so much salt the roads look like they've been painted white. Several days of heavy rains can rinse all of it from the roads and it's possible to get in a drive or two but that's not the norm. Most years we get frequent snow storms with the cold weather often last storms snow still on the ground when next storm comes in to add to it.
While working in garages temps @75. Prefer not to wear layers of clothing working on cars. Summertime garage humidity kept to @28% with dehumidifier,ac while working in garage. Good for the cars,bikes,better for tools.

One the best reasons for living where I do is I don't do any storage. The car is run 12 months a year as long as the weather is clear. I remember up in PA having to stash the car in the garage in Oct and not getting it out until April. Sometimes I could start it up a few times in the middle of winter but that was it. Do not miss those days.
