Installed New/Rebuilt Starter Motor on my 84 GSL-SE Today .....The original one was starting to give up the ghost when i started the car a few times ...So didnt want to take chances and end up stranded somewhere ..besides that the car has been running beautifully as i drive it more and more as it was not used much by the original owner and sat for long periods of time in a Garage which was the saving grace .....
don't return it for the core deposit yet. try replacing the brushes on your OEM starter. I went through several until I bought one from NAPA. Pricey , but often worth it.
Replaced both the door seals using OEM parts from Atkins. Fit is good around the doors, but the plastic pins don't snap into the holes around the bottom. This means it sags a little at the bottom of the door. I'll add some adhesive so i don't break the plastic clips, but expected the parts to fit better.
K&N E-3481 fits in the original Racing Beat assy, not sure about Mikuni... FYI Weber Redline also offers an inline high volume low psi fuel pump that fits in the stock location, No modifications needed to mount it (carb cars), supports up to 200hp and is nearly silent!

The 39 year old rubber mounts for the oil cooler gave up, so instead of ordering new mounts for $80 USD (stupid CAD being so weak), I ran some holes through both plates and the rubber, and used 1/4" hardware to sandwich it all. Still has some flex and was a $0 fix as I "liberated" the hardware from work.
I also serviced my fan clutch as mine was stuck on tornado mode.
I found the plunger stuck out and the bi-metallic strip permanently bent. So I popped the strip out and flattened it back out. I also freed up the plunger with the help of some penetrating/lubricating fluid and re-installed the strip. I still need to test a full heat cycle but now it spins up and then spins back down and stays quiet on high idle.
I also installed an arm rest from an '80 in to my '81. The fit isn't flawless but it's close enough considering how flippin rare these black arm rest center consoles are (you 84-85 guys are so lucky).
It's missing the ash tray so I ordered an NA Miata OEM cup holder as this forum says it'll fit.
Other than that, I've been replacing random bits (weather stripping, hood prop, etc) with whatever is in better condition off my '85 GSL-SE parts car.
Bled the brakes as I changed a hardline last year and had no pedal after that. Did some searching on here and found I had to bleed all sides. I'll try it tomorrow to see if it worked. lol

That fan clutch refurbishing deserves a new thread with pictures and how to commentary. First I heard of anyone doing that. Good job.
The Miata cup hold fits just fine, I've had one for years in my SA until it plain ole broke one day. Need to get another for sure.

If it turns out I have in fact fixed it, I'll take it out again and document the steps for everyone. Like I said though, I haven't fully heat cycled the car yet so I can't say for sure and don't want to lead anyone astray.
Glad to hear the cup holder fits, that stupid thing cost me $50 after shipping and conversion to Canuck Bucks.

Bled the brakes:
start with the passenger side rear then driver side rear, passenger side front and at least driverside front.
it is about 20 years old. I will be mounting the mounting bracket and I will be modifying an SA surround. The plan is to use 1/8 plastic sheet and graph it in to the existing. I should make a tutorial as I do this.
Got the nikki some covid 19 to eat. Found the headshield above the header making very bad noise. Easy to fix after warming up the cold engine at about zero degree. Against covid 19 Rx7fb engine rev and whirlpool with hot water.
