Plastic Dip

I'm needing a new paint job and I came across a new type of paint going around. Plastic Dip your whole car for about $600 and up, done at a paint shop, or you can see the YouTube videos and buy a kit for about $300 and up. Has any of you guys tried this?

My friend did his Mazdaspeed6 in white and has to keep reapplying it, it doesn't hold up well just have the car painted if you want a paint job. if you want to try something out use the plastidip and if you don't like it you can peel it off.

I did black pastidip on the front of my SA instead of the traditional bra. I got tired of the bras
coming loose at speed or chafing the paint. I use a bra to cover years of rock chips in the front
nose area and some other nasties.

Mine has been like this for over 2 years now and is wearing well. Just remember that removing
isn't as easy as it seems. Also the thicker you put it on the easier to remove.

we have been experimenting with it at work on our fleet with great results, i will be doing my car when i get to that point,

we buy it by the gallon and i know that different paint shops mix it with different ratio's, the less expensive it is the lower plastic content..

Whatever you do dont go white, I had done the front of my 7 in white similar to t_g_farrell and while working on my car had an oily finger get placed on the plastidip, never came off and looked terrible.

It can show oil and spots even on the black. What I found is if you dampen a paper towel with
mineral spirits and evenly wipe over the plasti-dip, it cleans up and makes it look a like new
almost.

And FYI Flex Seal is garbage. Tried it as under coating and it changes color and peels off.

It's cool stuff for sure, it's been around the car scene here for about 3 years now.

Just be ready for a terrible time trying to peel it out of door jambs, fender wells, crevasses under the rear windows, etc.

I thought about doing it to my car but decided not to in the end and I feel that I was much better off for it.

I bet you could make short work of it with a pressure washer. Or a high power car wash.

Maybe but I'd be worried about ripping up emblems, trim or other small bits as well.

Sure, if cash was available

Not only I would love to own a shiny 20 year old vehicle, but one that had a twin turbo 4 rotor engine, that handled almost as good as a F1

Except when they're not! Plastidip can hide some blemishes, as in my case, while
looking like a bra. Win-win!

Dreams are meant to become reality!
Twin turbo four rotor might be out of reach for most of us, but saving some money for a professional paint job? I did this in high school, working smart..

You can clean white plastidip with a Mr. Clean magic eraser. I'm not sure how it works on other colors

WD-40 removes it well also.

I'd rather go with a vinyl wrap since it would protect the paint underneath, as well as being shiny. Plasti-Dip does protect the paint, but isn't shiny (even with the additives) and removal isn't fun. Although taking vinyl off isn't a joy either...

I'll just paint my car with a good two-stage paint instead

This is my fourth gen rx7. I've had many high paying jobs, but currently enjoy a simpler life.
Bought this car as a project, been slow but always worth it! Love the P/S new to me.. had to rebuild the pump but great.
Old 74 4 port, runs great but never perfect. I hate the color! With all this interest in paint... I went down to the local Maaco, and with no body work, $559.00 painted, cleared, good for couple years. DON'T PLASTIDIP...
