i cleaned the battery terminals and added some sealant to them, it fired up and i ran it for 30 minutes but it wouldn't hold an idle so after some looking around i found that the TID had cracked after i reinstalled it, common problem since the rubber gets old and brittle, i put some sealant on it and i'm letting it cure before i take it out for a drive. (the TID will need to be eventually replaced though or upgraded to a more free flowing TID) for reference the TID is the Turbo Intake Duct that leads from the mass air flow sensor to the turbo.

Jake, did they ever get that tranny noise cleared up?

Yup yup tranny is all good, just my Oil psi gauge and my temp gauge don't work, my "room" fuse keeps blowing as soon as you put a new one in, I even used a 15A for a while and it eventually went out as well. And also when the car is put into reverse the gauges lose all power and when i turn the steering wheel to the right spot the Oil and Temp gauge start working. It's very quirky! But I installed a mechanical temp gauge and my car usually stays around 180-190 and has only gone up to a bout 210 when i was parked, and I shut it off. From what i've read 210 is ok and is the trigger for the electrical fans to come on. Other then those things the car is running fine. Interior is like half way back together, just not sure if i want to put it all back together just yet but I probly will by the meet.

if you're blowing out a fuse there might be a short somewhere. i cant forget if it's a short to ground or power. anyway, i might bring my ae86 coz i want to talk to the evolution motorsports guys about doing a 20v swap for me. also my 7 is kinda getting ready for another smog inspection and doesnt have insurance til i get the smog done. (keep failing for hc, might just need a tuneup)

Still on track for June 11th

The Beast went to Chris for the new 99 gas tank and twin fuel pumps this weekend. I'll get her back next week. I should get my new Dill chuck to fit my shocks which really need nitrogen bad - the front end is chattering around corners and bumps, with lots of front end plow. I will still run if I can't get the shocks charged, but times will stink.

Anyway, once the new tank and pumps are in (along with getting the fp and oil temp gauge wiring completed), a bit of dyno tuning and I'm ready to go. I may tune it for 18 lbs with the pure 103 unleaded, and am considering c16 (I'll take out my wideband and put in a plug) for 20+ pounds. However, that will probably only be used for straight-line racing since I don't think the power would be very useable in an auto-x situation.

with the different guages it may require more amperage to run the guages Jake, ask aruond the 3rd gen forums what the stock 5 speed "guage" and "room" fuses are amperage wise. if yours is correct then there is probably a piched set of wires somewhere, check behind the cluster near sharp edges for cut or chafing wires.

Well from what I can tell IF my temp gauge is correct, my elec. fans are not turning on at 210 F I even let it go to 215 but still no fans then I shut it off cuz I didn't want anything to go wrong.

Do you have aftermarket electric fans? I have a black magic fan and the controller that I got with it was a piece of junk that failed after three weeks of use.

Hey, I might be able to make it out. The problem wasn't the alternator, but actually the alternator pulley. Apparently it got deformed from the amount of stress put on it, so I'm having a new one sent to me ASAP. The car won't be fully tuned, but it'll run pretty hard, and I'd like to bring out my car for anyone that's never seen it before. Hope to see some of you guys there!

i finally got around to installing my new KYB AGX rear shocks and Tein springs, hopefully i can install the front springs tomorrow evening. the *** end of the car isn't jacked up to the sky anymore and feel much nicer driving under any condition, i especially like the fact that the left rear wheel doesn't hop anymore.

when i pulled the LR shock off it collapsed on itself, no resistance whatsoever. i think i got my moneys worth out of it, lol. also never knew our cars came with Tokicos stock...(yes they are factory units, i have seen them on 7s at the wreckers also)

I'm going to rig up a switch for my E-fans tomorrow night and throw my **** together hopefully. As long as I can make sure the car doesn't over heat i'm fairly happy. If i get a fan controller will that automatically turn them on at a certain Temp?

Good idea I still need to do that on my beater bmw...**** goes into red before the fan activates. And the radiator sucks, so yeah...definately need it. Get it done TODAY! You have to race.

Haha whatever, I figured the whole switch thing cuz on FD's they have a black/yellow wire where all you have to do is ground it while the car is running to have the fans kick on high I don't have it hooked up to a switch just yet but i have it near a ground so I can just ground it whenever, I'm gonna hook up a switch today tho. And I gotta throw the interior back together or I doubt i'll pass tech.
