NorCal 7's May Meet

http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/Sacramento/Cup20053.htm

Alright ladies and gentlemen for all of you who missed out there is another autocross going on May 28th At San Juaquin Fairgrounds

I for one would like to go run this time, since my car will be ready by then. If this sounds good to everyone else then let's do it. Also gives a second chance for all those who didn't get out there this past saturday.

it also gives those of us who did run and found the weaknesses in our cars a chance to fix them and test the modifications out.

i'm up for it.

I'm down. Hopefully I can run in this one.

Hey Ben, as far as replacing studs in the back wheels of my TII, do I need a whole new hub or can we just replace the studs? Let me know something if you know the answer. Thanks in advance bro.

You can just replace studs by hammering them out, i helped my friend do it on his Trans Am. Fiesty little buggers tho.

Jake, I know that you can do that with some cars. But for some reason I remember somebody telling me that you have to replace the entire rear hub on Turbo FC's. That's why I'm checking in to it.

i'm sure it is possible but you may have to pull the whole hub out in order to replace the studs since there isn't a whole lot of room back there with the rear control arms.

I'm going to go ahead and replace all 10 of them in the rear. I just don't trust the old ones for as bad as I'm going to be beating up that rear end.

i'm going to check out a T2 after work today, it has no title so i may be parting it out, i'll let you know since it may be easier just to swap out the hubs.

HELL YEAH!!!! There will be a few things I would want off of that if you part it out. I would even go in on it with you if the price is right. Let me know what you find out.

I'm in....who knows I may have to sneak out when I'm staying with my mom Oh and by then me = slotted rotors And I'll have my fd alt installed by then, but that doesn't mean a whole lot on the track :P Hopefully I rip the smog pump off by then too. On a side note I didn't get lost once in San Fran Yet I can get lost in sac...haha. See you guys there. We need a bbq or small meet before that auto cross though! ...and my fender is still red. Sure is taking a hell of a long time to get the moldings in..

it is an S4 T2, body is red and is in 4.5 out of 10 condition, has some body damage to the right side that has been bondo'ed but not painted. the interior is the same as mine, cloth grey, not horrible shape but it has been sitting for about 4+ years so it is dirty and i didn't thoroughly look it over. the car died to an engine fire(minor fire, only damaged the wiring harness from what i saw) from what i suspect was a leaky fuel dampener, the upper end of the engine was torn apart and i could see the black under the UIM and the injector wires were all burnt but the motor looked to be in one piece still, the turbo is probably also still good.

the price: FREE

with a couple of exceptions, it has to be towed off the guys property by tomorrow at the latest. the car has no title, the previous owner abandoned it on his property but he claims he might be able to get a hold of the owner. the tags are from '01, i didn't look at the month, cause i doubt it matter much at that point...

i am hesitant to go pick it up even though it is free, i don't have tons of extra space to store and tear apart another car but can make do for a little while. if i picked it up i would part the whole thing up and the main issue would be trying to get rid of the chassis without a title, wreckers require a title to wreck a car don't they? last exception is the pats guy who told me about it will probably want some type of finder's fee, though i think even $100 would be pushing it, i think he thought it would be a good rebuilder but i told him FCs don't have a great resale and parting it out would only net about $1000 plus there is gas to pick it up, dolly rental and my time of tearing the car apart.

the only parts i really am interested in is the core motor and turbo since i need a spare to do my hybrid upgrade while i drive on my current one until it pops, which won't be long at this rate...

let me know what you all think i should do or if you have any idea on what i or we can do with this thing.

i must know by tonight though so i can take my truck to work tomorrow in prep to tow it to my house or anywhere else.

btw, the car is located in West Sac near Elkhorn and Watt ave.

Jake you can say anything about my car, it wouldn't hurt me one bit, I know it looks like crap, runs like crap, only thing I can be thankful for is that it doesn't smell like crap.

Race!?! bahaha, you know you'll beat me. Still need to get my feet wet in some autocross.

Ben, how is the passenger fender and sunroof. i know you said the right side is messed but how's the passenger fender. my tII has a banged passenger fender and rusted sunroof. i have extra fenders and sunroof too but if i can get some red ones then i don't have to deal with paint as i already have a NA clown car.

Wow, Elkhorn/Watt is about 4 miles away from me. That area is more Elverta/Rio Linda than West Sac. Unfortunately I live in apartments so they probably would not take kindly to people parting out cars in the parking lot, heh. I've got a connection that can get cars crushed, but I don't think he would have the space to store the car while it was being parted. I can always ask though, but tomorrow is pretty short notice on something like that. I might be able to work a deal with him if there are any worthwhile parts left on it, but it sounds like most of that is already spoken for.

Mike

from memory i think the passenger side fender does have some damage near where the passenger door is but it might have been the door i was looking at and the fender may be in decent condition but i can't say for sure until tomorrow, i wish i could have gotten some pics.

i can pull the car apart and get a hold of you Mike to crush the remainder, i would preferably like to find the owner of the car first before i go and start dismantling it though.

Ben,

I'll need some parts off of it. If the guys wants some kind of finders fee then I'll chip in some money seeing as I'll be wanting parts off of it. I got dibs on the rear end!! And the tranny if it isn't all f*cked up. I'll give you a call tonight about this Ben.

i passed on it unless someone has some space they want to give up to pick apart or restore the car. it wouldn't take much to get running, hell i could probably have it up and running in a few hours but there is no history on the car and no title and i have very limited space. let me know if any of you guys want to take a gamble with it.
