It's officially December. Any chance we'll might see them in 2010?

Hey guys sorry about the holdups... we're having an issue with the company that was to make the backing caps for the lights. We're working on finding a new shop to create them, or possibly employing a completely different process for the backs which should actually give the lights a smaller form factor (making mounting easier with extra space).

We were originally hoping to have the backing caps finished weeks ago, but the issues we ran into with this shop have really set us back pretty badly. We're going to do our best to have these completed by the end of the year, but realistically it may be into Jan. before they start shipping. I was hoping to not have to push the date back again, but we basically just terminated the relationship with this shop today from lack of progress on their part . Sorry guys, though this setback will probably result in an even better backing as a result. I know you guys have been waiting a long time please bear with us .
-Heath

Take your time, I'd rather not have a product that's rushed to market.

Does the reduced depth of the light change the optics any? Does it affect the focal length?
Will it make an FB model possible? I know the depth was an issue there.

I've got the FD lights and my pair have to be sent back, Heath has been great to deal with through the entire process of purchase and fixing my individual issue. Have faith that this delay will result in what could be a higher quality if not the same as initially anticipated. Trust me, once you drive with these at night you'll never want to take them out

These are definitely worth the wait!

Unfortunately the FB is simply too shallow to use projectors. The rear cap literally just keeps out dust/moisture... the optics are not affected in any way. Basically, with the mold we were using before, we needed to add depth to allow the forms to pop out of the molds. With the new process we should be able to significantly decrease the "bludge" on the back of the housings. just makes them easier to mount basically (plus they will look better). Granted its the back of the housings that you will never see and the only purpose is to keep out dust/moisture... but it will be a better overall product in the end.

Here's a thought, the smaller projector units that turboIIrotary uses, can those be adapted for use with the 1st gen housings?

Keep up the good work Heath!

Heath,

Any chance we can see some pictures of where the projectors are at as of now?

they are actually the same length (i have a set here) and are SIGNIFICANTLY inferior projectors, especially for distance-throw. They are wide but the intensity drops off heavily at distance. The FB's just have really really shallow headlight buckets... there's just very little room to fit good (err any) projectors in there.

I'd be happy to post pics of the progress if the backing caps were done... but since we employ a number of proprietary processes to construct them which took a ton of time and money to develop, I'm less inclined to post pictures of them until they are a little closer to completion

I can respect that. Keep up the good work and sorry to hear about the setbacks. The wait is worth it though

Yeah it will definitely be worth it... literally night and day (not to tease ya ). Also part of the setbacks have been a time crunch on my part. Adding to all the confusion and lack of time, I'm also in the middle of my masters thesis, and experienced a huge disaster with a month worth of participant data (~100 participants @ 1/2hr each) that got completely corrupted, and have had to start from scratch.

along with the backing caps debacle (that shop COMPLETELY dropped the ball to the point where we had to simply end things with them) it's just been one huge setback after another (business and personal life). Needless to say, I can't wait for this horrible year to be over... if a piano drops on my head before the year is out, I can't say I would be surprised

Actually the delay is probably good for all of us since Christmas is coming up and ties up a lot of cash.

Yes, sorry things will probably slow down a little before the holidays, but we're still working to get the FC lights done and packed before any of the other projects. Please shoot Scrub a PM to update your address.

"As far as the lights go, we are testing out the new backing material now to make sure it will last for as long as the lights do... so far everything is rock solid. If everything is fine remains ok after durability testing we should have them done in a matter of weeks at this point . These are ahead of the FD lights so you guys will be first to have them.

-Heath"

Heath sent me that on December 27th. That was almost 2 weeks ago. We're getting close
