Yeah Scrub could you paste an updated payment status list so we can see what members need to be harassed in their other threads?

I believe the plan is that they close the list Oct 31, then as soon as all payments are in they order all the parts, they build the assemblies, and then they ship to us in the order in which we signed up.

+2 Would be an instant hit and would completely modernize FD lighting style and functionality.

Uh... ks headlights are far from modern-looking. And functionality seems pretty tip-top on the units they're offering right now. To be fair I can understand the appeal of them but I just don't agree with your reasoning.

I concur with Maximum. What are you going to protect the projector with the KS style lights? I'm not spending all that money for a projector to get crack from a rock. Atleast using the stock style clear lens, it's replaceable for a decent amount and is less likely to get damaged.

I wouldn't trip about a rock hitting them, my FD is only a weekend car, the probability of it happening is worth how sexy they'd be, and I'm sure they could create some sort of cover for them out of plexi-glass if they wanted to.

I won't comment on my opinion of these ones. Like you said, you're doing it for the functionality, and I'm glad SakeBomb came out with a new product that helps us FD owners.

I might just buy some KS's and retrofit them myself. Modern? maybe not, but they look a hell-of a lot better.

Waterproof? Rock/dirt proof? How are they aimed/adjusted? These are all reasons we stuck with the stock lights. Also what is the other lamp used for? If its HID then you realize this would significantly raise the cost (even if its halogen it would), and we realize they are already not particularly cheap! Honestly, this is a discussion of aesthetics not functionality, and most people wouldn't want to purchase lights that cost $1.5K (not to mention these already exist.) Knight Sports actually contacted us about sending a test set of RHD lights to them for testing to pass their light inspection. If they pass (and they should as they are functionally the same as other OEM HID setups) then KS wants to order some from us, as their current lights don't pass light inspection in japan... so trust me when I say this is honestly just an aesthetic debate and I'm sure KS wouldnt appreciate us stepping on their toes by copying their products

I'm not arguing that this isn't a debate of aesthetics, as I'm sure a KS retrofitted kit would provide just as much light output as your product. I'm not sure of the process of aiming and adjusting projectors, but would assume it would be similar? With a little bit of creativity someone could make them: rock/dirt/water proof. It more about the time/resources to do it.

Cost is understandable. I see BMW quad-projectors going for $1200 w/ angel eyes, including new housings.

Thanks for the news on KS designing a kit w/ projectors. Can't wait till they come out.

Once everyone is paid up we will order all the parts... then there will be a wait time for all the various parts to get to us, and for us to create each set. They will be shipped in order of completion according to your position on the list. We are aiming for the beginning of December (about a month from now) to start shipping the first sets barring any big complications. Our goal is to have the last ones out before Christmas but I do want everyone to realize these have to be individually built and aligned.

That being said, we will work as fast as possible to get them built and shipped, but we need to be able to spend enough time with each set to build them to our standards.... we will NOT sacrifice quality to slop through them as fast as possible (which is why I'm being slightly vague with a deadline)

I think you misunderstood his post - KS is talking about buying sakebomb's headlights from them because their lights don't pass Japanese inspection. They're not developing anything new.

Sorry, I meant to say that they have the dual headlight set already, but they would like to buy OUR projector headlights. The aiming with ours is done using the stock aiming screws; it looks like the quads are permanently fixed. Basically, the quad lights are WAY more complex a proposition than you might think, and to build 10 sets of them would be way over 1500 I'm sure... not to mention it's beyond the scope of this thread cause at the moment we don't have quad lights to offer

Please PM me and we can talk further -Heath

I won't comment on my opinion of these ones. Like you said, you're doing it for the functionality, and I'm glad SakeBomb came out with a new product that helps us FD owners.

I might just buy some KS's and retrofit them myself. Modern? maybe not, but they look a hell-of a lot better.

Does anyone know the size of the lights used in the KS kit? 90mm?

I've seen the light output on the HID KS kit and it is not good. Not a projector lens, no cutoff and they splash light all over the place. It doesn't surprise me they'd want another solution. FYI - there are very good options for projectors that are waterproof and rock proof without using the stock headlight cover for protection. They're not cheap and I think $1,000 is a good estimate of what a high quality DIY kit would cost for all new components (you could do this with used OEM projectors and a retrofit HID system for less) and $1,500 wouldn't be unreasonable for retail. I'd pay that now if someone had a proper kit.

Looks like I will forge out on my own with the dual pop up HID idea
