No the lights should not be pulling any current while turned off. I have left my car sitting for weeks at a time and it starts right up (I'm running a PC 545.) How often do you drive your car?

Guess what David, I've proved you wrong before even though you were dead set on the misinformation that was fed to you by others. You probably still think the cutoff style of our lights are ECE As quoted in the post above our instructions clearly state to use our lights at your own risk. You want to offer DOT street legal headlights to the community.. GO FOR IT! You think a DOT approval makes everything peachy? Our stock headlights were DOT approved; they should be illegal and Mazda should be sued for releasing such terrible lighting. I believe your mounting assembly also has to be DOT approved not only the lights; but hey you've obviously got too much free time on your hands so by all means research away tiger! The fact of the matter is you'll believe whatever you read or what is told to you by a "credible" source. See blow:

I bet you'd believe BP if they told you the oil spill had been completely cleaned up too.

You're like a little kid pointing fingers, act your age.. I know the Ed hardy shirts make you feel young again, but it's called being mature. As stated above our lights were designed for off-road use and are to be used at your own risk. Unless you have a genuine interest in purchasing any of our products please refrain from posting in our threads. If you feel the need to continue to post in our threads I will have the posts deleted. We can't continue to respond to your attacks in our for sale threads, I'm sure if the roles were reversed you'd be quite cross. Heath can field any further comments via PM, I'm done dealing with you. Any further issues you have with a product which you are not going to purchase should be posted in the goodguy/badguy section. Our customers can critique our products there. You seem to have taken a particular interest in both of our headlight kits and our fire extinguisher mounting solution among other things.

I can admit to being wrong, but when someone tells you that 5+5 = 10 and you're convinced it equals 9 then that's just called being ignorant. It's pretty funny how you like to pick on us so much, but you get all emo when something is said directly to you.

We've never claimed our lights were DOT approved. Everyone definitely does make their own decisions, you chose to spend 100k+ on a 20B swap which continues to break down and have ongoing issues. If my car was at kilo racing or at the body shop as much as yours I'd probably be a little feisty too. One day you'll get to enjoy your headlights as much as I enjoy mine. I guess when you do your own work you know it's done right

Members can choose whatever lighting solution they want. Just about any projector based headlight will offer better lighting then stock. Thanks for trying to make us second guess offering a better then stock lighting solution. Any FD owners who have seen our lights were very impressed with the road lighting, and our customers are happy. Do I care if our lights are better then your solution? No. You've had the opportunity twice now to compare our lights, but never said a word about it to me. Maybe it just comes down to the issue of confidence.
Time to settle down sport. The Carlisi meet was genuine. Go back and check the thread posts and see who started this - Heath, with his swipe at me. I had no intention of bringing up any of this stuff until his posts came up and off we went.

I am pretty sure you guys have stated your lights are DOT approved and Heath has argued a lot and danced around the subject. They are not DOT approved and can't be and that is a fact. Again, not opinion but fact.

And I really don't want to offer a headlight kit, DOT or not, but if I did, it most certainly would be DOT approved as there is no way I would want the legal liability of this. My body shop guys may offer a kit (we'll see) and my advice to them is to make it with Hella DOT parts.

And the last time I recall you proving me wrong was when you posted up a pic of a headlight, claiming it was a stock unit but as we know it turned out to be a retrofit unit from your supplier, theretrofitsource.com. I have learned a lot about cutoffs over the past year or so and I will concede your beam pattern may be a DOT one, one that may or may not conform to DOT standards. It might also be an ECE one too but we won't know that as you guys won't have your units tested to see if they conform to either standard. And it is much more than just the sharpness of the cutoff that makes the lights conform or not conform, there are over 30 factors taken into consideration here. Again, this is from my "poor BP" source, the automotive headlight development group at Hella, but hey they could be lying to me I guess. It's about the best source I can think of, the guys that actually make headlights for many of the best cars on the road.

And yes we all make our own decisions and I continue to recommend your lights to others, DOT approved or not. They are the best option I know of for those that want to keep the full height pop up look. I hope you sell a bunch of them. And regarding the fines DOT can levy against you ("off-road" stamp or not), you guys better make sure you are an official LLC or S-corp so you have no personal liability. PM me if you need more on this as I teach this stuff at the university level and am happy to help. Costs like $100 bucks to file.

As for my car, take a number and stand in line with the numerous people that have given me advice on the conversion. Have I learned a lot? Yes, most certainly. Have I also spent way too much on the car? You bet and it has been painful. I am pretty close to having my issues sorted out though so at least give me credit for perseverance. That counts for something right? For those of us that are not mechanics, it's that much more difficult. Chris Carlisi and I spent much time on the phone discussing our 3 rotor builds as we had parallel experiences. Lots of starts and stops and way too much money spent for sure. I have told myself I will write up a primer for the next guy that wants to try this and I might still do that. We'll see.

Regarding the light "challenge", this is a two-way street and you could have asked to do this right? Would have been interesting though with my car living on Gordon's lift the entire meet. I could have faked you out and just raised the car up and down for high and low beams

And finally, any time you want some "ed hardy" fashion advice, I'm here for you. Okay so I had to look up the ed hardy thing but I do wear shirts like that for sure. Ever since selling my software company a few years ago, I vowed not to wear suits but to dress much more casually. So it's shorts and t shirts for me and jeans, t shirts, and jackets when I lecture. Works for me

i would like to say cutoff sharpness has nothing to do with DOT if you take a look at new cars with hid's they have frosted lenses to make the cutoff soft and let a little light go above the cutoff.

I was driving it daily but been stranded a couple times already so I'm using other car for the time being.

The PC925 won't keep the charge even for a day if I don't drive the car. I have to put it on a charger if I leave the car sitting longer than a day; maybe I need a new battery...

1: I wish I had 750 bucks to spend because this is the hands down best lighting option I've seen for our cars.

2: Whoa, an old-school squabble! heh, That was a pretty entertaining 10 minutes or so.

Hi, I've had this kit recommended to me, I'm in San Diego at the beginning of May, is there any chance of getting hold of a UK RHD kit with standard ballasts?

regards

Rich

Additional units probably wont be ready by then, but we can obviously ship to the UK when they are. Please add your name to the interest list here.
