We usually try to stay away from situations like this due to the liability involved, but, we would be willing to help you out. As long as you understand that the map we supply you with is strictly one to get you from point A to point B. The timing maps will be reasonable, but will definitely need some tweaking based upon your set-up, which should be taken care of by the person tuning your vehicle. PM or e-mail me a list of your supporting mods and I'll see what I can dig up. Sound good?

The newer 500R-SP is showing very promising at the track. I will post up some info in the next few days.

Hi, which turbo kit has the most potential. I have a series 8. Thinking T35/40 allows you to run stock series 8 injectors, and grow into the car. Later when I want more power just up the hotside and buy bigger injectors. What do you think? Don't think I could run stock injectors on the 500r-sp. I don't like spending all that money on the garrett though and then turn around later and wishing I had the potential of the 500r. Any thoughts please? I live in Australia, RX7 has been my dream for a decade, which i finally been able to afford to buy. I bought a series 8 with 30K Miles and the motor blew after driving it only twice even though I had the car inspected prior to purhcase. I did expect to do the motor but not that soon. Now I find myself spending another $10K + and want the best potential HP for dollars spent. I have the same power goals as many of around 450-500 and want to take the car to the track and don't want skylines passing me by. My mechanic has extend ported the motor, just have to decide on the turbo. He wants me to go the 35/40 but previous cars with this setup only hit 400hp and this doesn't seem good value for dollars spent considering the twins before were probably giving me 330hp. I do want a relatively linear power delivery. Cheers

 

Selling the turbo alone has two issues, first I have a hard enough time getting kits out quickly as it is, I would rather not have, a kit not go out, than have a turbo alone go out. Second and more of the larger reason. It wouldn't be cost effective. I have to much cost into the turbo itself and I absorb some of that into the kit cost. FOr me to sell just a turbo would put it in a price range that most wont justify. Custom turbo's cost money.


The newer ones use larger turbines with custom profiles machined to suit the specific housing. This allows for better more specific applications. They fit better, meaning they have more room around the CHRA to work with than the older models. They are proving to perform better as well in testing. The SP runs a .84 turbine housing, it spools quicker than the older 1.0 or 1.06 obviously however due to the specific wheel profiles the new .84 SP is showing more flow up to top than the old 1.06 A/r So your getting quicker response down low and more flow up top. Sounds like a good move in the right direction to me. The HP models will be able to outperform your standard 1.0 TO4Z as that was the goal in mind for that version and will be geared more towards high hp street/highway type car.

If it were me I would say a SP is about as good as it gets. Great response with the capability of going over 500whp. and honestly anyone who has been in a 500whp FD can tell you. It is more than adaquate for anything short of bragging rights.

This question might depend on porting (any other things) but assuming an average street port, how much PSi could 550/1600cc injectors keep up with at 80-85% injector duty cycle? I'd love to run 16 PSi on pump but not sure if that is enough fuel. I'm currently running the BNR twins on 550/1300cc at 17 PSi at 84-85% injector duty.

You will be just fine at 15-16 PSI and that injector set-up. Just make sure you have the pump to match.

 

Well this is just great, I spent all this time researching what turbo to get, and now i find out the 500r sp will out flow the T04Z 1.00 i just ordered from you guys. I hope I have the opportunity to possibly switch to the 500 r sp before my T04z is shipped, if in fact the 500r sp can out flow it in the upper register. I had been waiting for some results to come out about the new 500r, tell us more guys.

By GT core are you referring to CHRA? They use multiple part numbers off of Garrett turbo's as well as some off shelf parts being machined to suit our specs. They also incorporate some of our own parts depending on the application.

 

Hopefully soon the two test vehicles that are running the 500R-SP switched from the 500R. So far what we have is the turbo feels quicker and needs more fuel sooner in the map as well as up top in the map. This indicates it has quicker response as well as more flow up top. Keep in mind this was done on a same motor same car with a existing 500R 1.06 A/r The new custom turbine in the .84 is showing more flow up top than the older turbine and 1.06 A/r. Hopefully that helps some.

 

Once I get my turbo, I'll post dyno sheets of Mustang, Dynopack, and Dynojet ^_^

Zero R:
I am running a Garrett GT42RS 1.01 A/R at mo and wanna down size for better response on track.
Full boost 1.6bar at 4500rpm 648hp, wanna try to get full spool by 3700-3800rpm but still need to have power guess I could drop to 570hp-600hp if I can get out corner quicker.

What one off your turbos would you suggest ?
Have you compared your turbos against Borg Warner tubs ?

Yea any updates? Think i will be going with this setup for my build. Need to get the moneys first. Looking for around 500rwhp and getting boost around 3500 if that is possible. Thinking i might go with this or the 35r since i want a quick response.

 

Whoever has some of these new turbos, put them on your car, dyno them, and put up some figures, were dying here, im half tempted to buy one just so i could find out what it can do.
