My fathers theory is this: that a coil is bad, because its only happening when the engine is warm. that the coil is fine until it heats up and then dies. Does this sound like the issue? or is my carb the culprit.

The is a few things that will cause the brake light (Warning Light) to stay on

1) Emerg Brake On
2) Low Brake Fluid level, There is a float in the reservoir that has a magnet on it make sure it is up near the top
3) Brake Light Out, But I think this is only when you press the brake, and I think it was only on the S1 S2.
4) There is a Short in one of the wires for the above items.




If it is the coil, it should still run on the other one, and you will barely tell the difference. Warm it up and get your brother to pull off one of the wires to a coil if it is still sparking try the other one, this will give you the answer on the coil.

2nd gen coils will work without the ignitors

I still say it is the carb.
