Ok did you bleed the clutch? I would try that first. On a second gen its under the dash I believe. Try that. Then If not your clutch is grinding bad. Is what that noise is. I had the same problem on a mx-6. I replaced the clutch slave and it went away. Then I sold it. Then its the clutch bearing that centers the clutch. Throw out bearing. I guess.

im at a loss here guys, any input would be appreciated, these cars truley fight you when your trying to help them. lol
and you really cant say what you need till you take it off and look at it. Its going to be a quick fix. Dont drive it to much now.

nope not a spec on metal shards or anything, i drove it and it was cool, except for the annoying sound it made. Maz-Max quoted me $650 for a rebuild. and thats the last thing i need. 1 on craigslist but i dont want to buy a lemon. if someone i knew had one that would be awesome. ill pay good for it.

Don't have one but will let you know if I find one.Is the one on craighlist for a 79-80 because the shifter position will be different. The one on my SE would make the noise on 1st ,3rd and 5th gears, is yours making noise at all the gears? Anyway, just drive it and enjoy it for now till you find another trans, just wear some ear plugs.

Unhappy Tragedy strikes....

Well i went to get my plates got them put them on, went to get my inspection drove the car hooked it up to the machine, and BAM! so now its sitting at the inspection shop helpless. I was in 3rd going about 2K RPM doing the test, when the car started jurking NASTY! it almost hopped off the machine. and then is just lost fuel pressure and died. i pushed it off the machine and tried to start it again, it just turned over and over over. and wont start, i slammed the gas down and got started it again. but now im scared of it stalling between my house and in the ghetto projects somewhere. i already put another fuel filter in it and it clean. i premixed the gas its got about 10 gallons in it. And my tow truck man is out of town. What do i do?

i have no clear idea, like i said my guess is the fuel pump but i checked the bulb in the carb and its over half way. could it be getting to mucho gasolina? LOL its fine until it warms up, i was in 2nd this time, coming around the block when it started jurking again, i gave it gas and it just stalled and died. so i had to push it. once i gave it the usual 30 mins it started back up no problemo.

My fathers theory is this: that a coil is bad, because its only happening when the engine is warm. that the coil is fine until it heats up and then dies. Then it wont start until it cools down approx. 15-20 minutes later. how would i check if they were any good? cant i steal a set of 2nd gen coils?

Does this sound like the issue? or is my carb the culprit.

The is a few things that will cause the brake light (Warning Light) to stay on

1) Emerg Brake On
2) Low Brake Fluid level, There is a float in the reservoir that has a magnet on it make sure it is up near the top
3) Brake Light Out, But I think this is only when you press the brake, and I think it was only on the S1 S2.
4) There is a Short in one of the wires for the above items.

If it is the coil, it should still run on the other one, and you will barely tell the difference. Warm it up and get your brother to pull off one of the wires to a coil if it is still sparking try the other one, this will give you the answer on the coil.

2nd gen coils will work without the ignitors

I still say it is the carb.

ive also heard that the bypass valve or something in the fuel line before you get to the carb may be clogged. and thats why it dies. then after letting it sit the fuel settles back from the lines and then once started again it clogs. i thought this would be plausible except for the fact that it wont do it while idling just another suggestion from the numerous ive already tried to devise.

Here are the pictures from the vacation, I have lots of videos too, and the shuttle launch was GREAT, it took the sound about 45 sec to get to us.
