Every time I look at this thread they practically built a new car when I was gone. I guess that is how it is when it is your car that you are working on you just get in the zone and forget about everything else except getting your car on the road.

Hey Chuck, got your msg. I thought that we would be heading out there about 5, but I can't go pick up the MAF sensors until after 5, prolly won't be making it out to Scott's until around 7 or so.

Brought'er home

Well, me an John brought'er home before she ended up painted yellow.
So now it's The Good

The Bad

and The Ugly

Four vehicles and only one is reliable. Coincidental that 3 of them are RX7s? Probably not.
The GXL isn't all that ugly, but she is compared to John's silver car :P
A few more small things and the car should be able to run Hopefully I'll make it to the next meet.

*should* being the key word. Turned the engine over a little bit, just fine. Turned off the key in the ignition, turned it back on and....... silence. No click nothing. Lights turn on? Check. Try starting the car again... nothing. *sigh* Also, the lower radiator hose is leaking. It's one I got from autozone. So now I need another hose. Good news is..... hm. Ummmm... the emergency lights work. lol

Make sure the Main fuse isnt loose... Is the Shift Up light coming on the gauge cluster, if it is sounds like the clutch switch

We called the Police, someone took are next lemons car, we have a reward for its return, it is a 88 Blue FC GXL. If anyone has seen it let us know, we will go tag it yellow.

Remember kids, troubleshooting electrical problems is a fun and exciting way to meet girls!

Ok, not really.....here's what we've got:
main fuse is good
good 12v to the ignition switch
turn switch to acc = good 12v on acc post of ignition switch
turn switch to on = dirt, like .5v on igi, acc and input post of ignition switch
pulled all interior igi related fuses = still dirt
pull all interior fuses = good 12v on igi, acc and input post of ignition switch
replaced 15amp engine fuse = main relay clicks
no power to fuel pump, discovered that the circuit opening relay was unplugged...not by Angel or me, so I have no idea how we were ever getting fuel. Plugged the relay back in and I'll be damn'd if the car didn't start right up.
<do a little dance>
The preceding was about 4 or 5 hours of taking measurments, looking **** up and cursing the rotary gods. Now I just have to figure out what circuit is dragging everything down.

Good as far as we can tell Thanks for asking ^_^ John took it out for a quick run around the neighborhood w/out any exhaust, I backed it out of the garage and washed it, and John pulled it back in and we got it up to where we can get under it and see about getting the exhaust back on. We then realized that we had no gaskets to use, so we'll be getting the exhaust on tomorrow hopefully!

Well, exhaust is back on, interior is cleaned out, I've been replacing interior screws. For some unknown reason quite a few were taken out. Someone was dumb and cranked down on the screws that keep the rear speaker covers on causing the plastic to split. *sigh*
Found out that I have factory speakers. Really surprised someone hasn't replaced those in the past two decades. Makes me wonder if they work. Found out that we have a bad switch for my brights, I'll be looking for another one of those! If it's not one thing, it's another!

Mine idles around 500 or less, and sounds good, but every once in a while she'll dip so low that the accessory lights come on, and sometimes she just dies o.o;

Besides that, my car never ceases to break and amaze us I went to pasadena, and was coming back on the ten, not too far from home when I let my foot off the gas to de-accelerate when traffic slowed down a bit since there was a policeman sitting on the side of the road. clunk clunk clunk. Hm. Sped up, clunking went away. Within 10mins the clunking got bad enough everytime that I used the break, shifted, or just let my foot of the gas to de-accelerate slowing that I pulled over on the interstate, and soon after that exited and pulled into a parking lot. John came and looked at it and we called a tow truck and they were too expensive. Then we called Scott. John drove it and made it home without anything falling apart, but I won't be driving it like that. Oh well, now that I got my car inspected I can drive my car, but now I can't actually drive my car. *sigh*

I swear Angel's car is cursed.
Scott gave me some good info, and after driving the car home I think it's either the driveshaft or one of the halfshafts.

Idle is supposed to be 750 ± 25 rpms (per FSM).

Driveshaft problems to me. towards the end of the driveshaft specifically if it is happening during deceleration. What condition was the driveshaft in before you put it on? It might have had some invisible play in it.
