My very own Blue Lawn Ornament!
Soooooooo, paint color aside.....we picked up a speedometer cable, long starter bolt/nut, and some S5 taillights for Angels car today, and we made a new friend! Oh, and her blockoff plates showed up in the mailbox. I think we've got everything...time to start putting it back together. The saga continues!

Bad lighting lol
The only lighting we had that night was the camera flash! Not sure about the paint, but I know that the paint color from the factory can vary from car to car depending on when they were painted. When the vat was nearly full or nearly empty. o.o Nothin y'all don't know though :P just thought I'd mention it.
Thanks to Ben and Anthony btw for the tip on the tail lights!

So whats the word on the fd? and about the paint color you think you got some problems. Im gonna try to spray this to match the color thats on the car. Which it should. this is one of only a few colors thats factory mixed. Dupont dont play. anybody got a spray booth?
" Always willing to.....

Oh, and on the subject of Angels car....massive work on it will commence Saturday. If all goes well I want it back on the road by next week.

Lol, he's saying he almost bought Angels car off Craigslist. Took me forever to figure out what you were talkin' about, I was about to ask "You been drinkin', Larry?" LOL!

Hey scoot did you get my rx bag o tools. I also hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!!
Well, the car didn't make it back on the road, keep hitting some bumps. Looks like my shifter is missing some parts and I've pretty much decided just to try and get a stock exhaust. If anyone sees one around I'd super appreciate the info!
Well that's good!
That means I hadn't missed there being a missing badge in front of my face all the time I was sitting in front of the car. When I was looking at the picture it's really indistinct and I thought it was residue from where a badge had been. Kinda looks like that on my back bumper where they took them off
I learn something new every day

Sooooo.... today has been a busy day
Me and John swung by Keith's house and picked up the exhaust, made it to Scott's house fine even though we hauled the entire exhaust in the rodeo and I had the second Cat for an arm rest. Chuck got there not long after us, we got the radiator hoses put back on, Phil got there, got the starter back on, Scott got home, turned over the engine to check compression, engine caught on fire, Phil Scott and Chuck put the fire out, I showed my gratitude by supplying beverages, we got everything in order for a fire NOT to reoccur, checked compression on the front rotor.. all three faces showing 150-160 at 300RPM. Kinda crazy right? Then we checked the second rotor.... 001 003 000 ....... uh .... that's not right, switched compression testers and sensors around.... still 000 002 001 ...... :'( Took the exhaust manifold off so we could at least kinda see the Apex seals and at least the one seal that I saw was folded over. The guy I got the car from said it was sluggish. Now we see why! One rotor with good compression and one with none. So, it's at least an hour drive to Scotts, and another home, but Johns being a real trooper and came all the way back home so that he can drive all the way back, though I couldn't go since I have to be back at work by 6am tomorrow. We loaded up a 13b that supposedly has good compression, and sent him back to Scott's house. Not sure how things will go down by tomorrow morning but I appreciate all the effort tremenously no matter how it goes! Though I hope for the better
Big thanks to Keith for the exhaust, and to Phil, Chuck, and Scott for putting the fire out before it ruined anything
P.S. No pics of the fireball, but I will have pics of the singed inside of my hood by tomorrow or the next day. :P

Just to make sure the story is straight, John was the route cause of the fire, he was super happy about finally getting the starter installed, and turned the engine over with the fuel lines not connected to anything and then ones of the spark plugs joined the mix. It was a impressive fire ball, Phil used it fire extinguisher that is always in his vert, and Scott and I maned the water hose. By the way, breathing in that fire extinguisher powder isnt nice, I was messed up for awhile.
Anyways, John and I got the motor pulled and swapped the front cover/oil pan then installed the motor back into the car, that was about all we got done, I spent the last 2-3 hours keeping John moving, he was dieing quickly.
Today John will have to finish putting the stuff back on the engine. It should be running today.

The fire was 100% my fault, and this is a perfect example of what happens when you don't pay attention. I was very excited about getting to turn her car over and check compression and I rushed into turning the car over. I'm very grateful to the guys for reacting so quickly and I'm thankful that no one was hurt and that no serious damage was caused to the car.
Chuck is the man....that guy could motivate anyone. I've done plenty of work on rotary's but most of the time it's been in a garage with lights and concrete floors. Chuck doesn't need any of that, he just makes do with what he's got and makes it work. Just F'ing do it!
About the compression: yeah, we were all pretty giddy with the 150+ compression readings on the front rotor. When we tested the rear rotor we initially thought something was wrong with the tester. Chuck wound up putting his finger over the spark plug hole and he couldn't feel any air move when we turned it over. Very disappointing, but what can you do? Well for starters you can drive an hour, pull your spare 13B out of storage (thanks Aaron!), drive an hour back and then you can just stay out of Chucks way and do exactly what he tells you to do and get those motors swapped in ~3 hours. That included removing A/C, power steering, radiator, starter, transmission and swapping the front cover and oil pan from the bad engine to the good one.
All that's left is pretty much what Chuck said...just bolt the manifolds and such back on. Chuck did check the apex seals by hand and thinks they feel good...at least they're smooth and springy.
-John
P.S.- Chuck has the bad engine now....I'm hoping to see it rebuilt as a peripheral port and dropped into the LeMons car for a second chance at life!! Just keep those front rotor apex seals in order!

Just trying to get it running like everyone else.
Other than that the day was a success
Gonna be going out there tomorrow afternoon to hopefully put the rest of the manifold back on, fuel lines, some other things I'm too tired to remember right now, and mess around with my exhaust
Talk to y'all later
Pictures!

The one rotor beast.

Bride-of-frankenstein engine

And, about all the damage the small fire did was clean up the hood a little bit. Took off all that dangling fabric, well, on the driver side that is.
