My very own Blue Lawn Ornament!
Without disassembly, you might try using WD-40 first. It will soften and partially dissolve any old, dry grease in the tracks, then try the spray lithium chain lube I used. It's supposed to not dry out, and be waterproof. This is what I used:

I got mine at O'Reilly Auto Parts, supposed to be available at Wal*Mart. Works great for door hinges and latches, hood hinges and latch, etc. I tend to use it in combination with spray PTFE (AKA Dry Film Lubricant):

to make everything as slippery as possible!
I hate squeaks and groans, and hard to operate latches and handles.

Hopefully one day in the next few weeks I'll be able to coerce John into helping me get it out so I can clean it. Or maybe I'll just give him a cupcake. :P
I just confirmed that my car was originally 5A - sapphire blue, says so on the engine bay firewall. Well, the 5A part that is. Anyways, I've actually done some looking around on the interwebs and found gxls the same color as my car. Or, if they weren't gxls they at least weren't s5. >.>
Yay

Anyways, my car popped the coolant light and annoying-as-hell buzzer and I had to check my water levels. Oh boy. Checked the top fill point on the hose to the engine. Completely empty..... Okay. Close that, Checked the radiator..... No water visible. Not so good actually. Then checked the overflow tank, also empty. Hmm. Looked underneath the car, no puddles of water, nothing dripping, and not even any remotely wet spots underneath. Well, went ahead filled everything up, burped the hoses. Closed everything, drove home, no problem. After that for a few days I was refilling the coolant at the top hose point since the radiator stayed topped off after that, but I was still loosing water after just driving less than 10 miles. Loosing water as in, not a half cup or cup, but, the top hose to the engine was empty... Still, no drips or puddles of water on the ground. Getting VERY worried at this point. Thought John didn't seem too worried. If it was eating coolant he told me I'd just "drive it till the wheels fall off". Which, I couldn't argue with much. Any-a-ways, John rented a pressure checker thing-a-ma-bob from o'reillys and checked the FD - which had champagne bubbles at one point, and every time after driving would lose a small amount of water. Well, the FD had a leak that John described as considerable to me. HAHAHAHAHAhahahahaha... ehh... yeah, it was very non-consequential compared to the external leak my car later presented when the pressure checker thing-a-ma-bob was applied to it. As John pumped up the pressure it went from a slow drip very quickly into a STREAM of water. I think John had 12psi or pounds of pressure on it at that point. Or is that the same thing? Any ways, we found where the water was coming from, it is ONCE AGAIN, the lowest hose on the radiator leaking at the top AND bottom. Bleah. Terrible. I may have to spring for the stock hose that costs oh-gosh much for a hose that is only about a foot long D: But, for now, no leaks. I had intended to get a paint job for my car with my tax return, but I think I'll end up getting new tires and the odds and ends for my car instead, like that dang ol' lower hose. Too bad too. The car's body is in relatively decent condition. It'd look soooooo sexy with a new paint job. I'd repaint it sapphire blue, of course
Oh Oh, also, got tired of my car looking even more ghetto with the badges missing off the back, in the badges place was left holes and discolored, old, stuck-on glue. One of the badges has been repainted in the last decade and doesn't look too bad, the other badge, well, it hasn't had the same luck. Oh well. I stuck them back on, and presto chango, the car looks slightly better. Now... if only one of my exhaust tips had not rusted off.... :P

Well, it's been a while since I've updated, and my car hasn't really gotten too much further ahead in the world. The very broken GXL speaker covers have been replaced with regular base model speaker covers that are in much better condition. I've got a s5 radio in my dash that doesn't work since my car has s4 wiring, but damn it looks so much better than a gaping hole. I finally replaced my broken bin, only to have the unbroken one broken. Oh well lol. I replaced my right s5 tail with one that isn't as coming apart, I finally got around to getting new tires, potenza pole positions - Thank you very much John for finding those for me - put onto my '91 rims that I've had for six months. Before John and I broke up he replaced my master cylinder for both my clutch and brakes I beleive? Been a while I can't even remember :P Anything improving is better than nothing improving, so I guess things are getting better all the time.
I have a blue 86 GXL that is going to be Lemon-ized. It still has a full interior which is going to be removed. Some of the stuff is being sold off to finance the build but you can have the bins.
^^^ I hope you mean just the doors cause I am truck-less right now. It pissed me off so I sold it and got an 8.
Now the 8 pisses me off too so its all good. The FD and the FE team up on me! It aint fair.
If you need any other plastic interior bits - you're gonna need to make a list or come pull them from the car before I start stripping it.
Oh yeah - there is a racing beat Y-pipe and mufflers for sale on another forum in Houston (hint hint) for $100... not a bad price really.

I think that'll fit in the great8 won't they? I may come out and look at it to see what I could use, it'd help to have my car there to compare with lol. As for the y pipe and mufflers, I can has a link please?
