I've actually found ss oil return lines to be harder to install in the past because a -10 or similar line of that short length has very little flex. They do last longer however. Would this be directly adaptable to the current kit with the rubber oil return line? How much$?

Yes it's easily adaptable to the current kit. It will fit without having kink or bend issues. Price is PM'd

The ones I currently have will only work if you have our long runner manifold.

Hm, I might be interested in that s/s oil return line.

Update, I ordered some ic piping and couplers and have received most of it. I also have a Tial BOV welded on the cold side pipe and ready to go. I still have to track down this damn exhaust leak (seems to be turbo to manifold) and am waiting on a reducer coupler. Not driving the car is driving me nuts......

Rich,

You need to verify that the two flanges on the exhaust manifold are flat.
I did not do this and have suffered two leaks, one for each flange.
To make a long story short: the turbo side flange had a .025" drop off on one corner; and the exhaust flange on the outside end for the #1 exhaust dropped off about .005" right where it contacted the gasket.

My car has been parked since mid October for the winter. Won't be taking it out until March/April of next year so try that on for size.

Hi Chuck,

thanks for the input. I was told that my manifold was 'faced' before being sent out so shouldnt have any issues. But, the exhaust leak is definitely coming from the turbo to manifold seam. I wonder if it's possible that it's the turbine flange? What do you recommend, bringing the manifold to a machine shop and have them shave off a small amount in order to ensure it's flat?

we had this exact same issue on a 500r kit we did recently. the turbine housing itself had to be 'faced' as you call it. plus, with such a tight fitment it's such a pain getting to the back left nut and tightening it. regardless we got it leak free and i will say again.. this turbo setup is pretty bad ***.

Ok, great, thanks for sharing that info. I plan to bring the turbine housing to a machine shop to have them resurface it. If I can solve my leak without having to remove the manifold or wastegate I'll be a happy camper

You need to get a good straight edge and check all 3 mating surfaces.
My turbo's flange was true. Only the exhaust manifold was bad.
They could posible warp after use due to the hight heat.
I do not know if A-Spec heats up their manifolds after assembly and before final machineing?!

I would tend to agree, we have had one or two manifolds make it by us with the flange not getting faced after assembly. But it would be very odd if the turbine was the cause. Those are machined after being cast. I do know goodfellas manifold was faced before it left, but please keep me informed.

Flange could be warped. From being in heat.

Well, the manifold is on the car. I'll check the welds as best I can, I want to avoid removing it. The mani-to-turbo flange on the mani appears to be straight and true.

Mr. Dearborn, you're referring to the heat of welding the manifold? the car has only sat idling, so it hasn't experienced any heat from boosting.

Removing it might b the only way to see, as I said I looked for almost 2 years and justs found it after my second rebuild when I was inspecting parts. It was a small hole between the rear runner and the wastegate runner, in the joint, took less than a minuite to fix at my shop but a hole non the less

Has happened on a few of their kits you have to have the manifold machined flat. Not a huge deal but an annoyance none the less. Good luck with your kit and hope you reach your goals.

thanks for the well-wishes.

I'm told the manifold was faced flat, so I plan to direct my efforts at getting the turbo faced as well, i believe that is where the problem lies. I'll find out soon enough....

Has someone pissed in your cheerios lately?? As I stated just a few posts back, Some have made it by without my knowing, it happens, I move a lot of manifolds and kits. I stand by the product and address the issue if it arises. You move away and suddenly get angry and grow *****? Do not trash Rich's thread, if you have a issue PM me, last I checked I thought we were on good standing??

I dont get what you are saying are you calling me a liar or are you agreeing with me that your manifolds in some cases go out unfinished? I was merely stating a fact.

I'm saying over the past two days you pop up out of nowhere and offer nothing positive in two different threads. If you have a issue I'm unaware of bring it to me via PM's quit jumping on Riches posts and sounding like your trash talking him or my product that's all.
