Going WOT in 2nd/3rd gear at 3000 rpms, I see 15-16 psi by 3600-3700 rpms. Also, cruising in 5th at 3000, I see 15 psi by 3500 rpms. The entire powerband feels strong as hell. With my new setup (vs my old one) I have also moved to a GZ LIM and 4 inch full exhaust, so I'm not slamming on the BNRs in any way. However, the car feels like it really might be making 450 to the ground at 15 psi, based on my old setup making 390 rwhp at that boost level.

I took my dad out on the highway---he owns a 290 rwhp FD and has ridden in/driven my FD through all it's iterations, and he basically said 'I didn't think these cars could be this fast on pump gas boost levels'

My sticky 275 width BFG G force KDs in the back have trouble keeping traction all through 2nd gear......getting abbreviated wheel spin at 70 mph takes some getting used to, lol
I've been following this thread for awhile but just havent posted...but damn Rich...I can't wait to get my car out of the shop to test out my 500r turbo....you are an inspiration for many FD owners...lol...well for me atleast...

I went with a 1.06 a/r, think long runner, aeromotive frp, 1300 cc secondaries, stock primaries, walboro fuel pump...etc...

oh ok, the new avatar threw me off. Your setup looks good, you have a larger a/r then me / Man, I don't think you'll have nearly enough fuel to really let this turbo stretch it's legs. Are you planning on bigger injectors and a higher flowing pump down the road? I wouldn't want to run more than 12-13 psi with those injectors and pump.

Oh yeah...well i should upgrade my primaries, secondaries, and fuel pump huh? I guess more money to spend right??

He rich is it possible to run the stock secondary 850cc as my primaries??? Might be a dumb question...

Yeah, that is what most people do. You really will need to do that, and most people go with something like 1600's in the sec's and you need a fuel pump, supra pump is an easy install.

Yup, you can run 850s in the primaries, but you need a milled tail to make it fit. I suggest brand new injectors, your primaries obviously get the most use:

http://www.gothamracing.com/catalog/...roducts_id=864

And then run 2 walbros. I'm running 870/1680 injectors, and have an apexi BNR32 fuel pump, which is a step up from the supra pump.

Rich, I'm no longer in favor of the BNR's. I'm not going to go over my head with a 500R, but I am considering ASPEC'S GT35R short runner kit, so I can run my air pump. Hope you get your car tuned soon! BTW Thanks for backing up Carol, I bought her steering wheel!

that's the real issue with these high hp, light cars...getting traction....without slicks, I wonder if you could beat your old set-up in the 1/8 mile?

as an alternative to another fuel pump i suggest you consider a Kenne Bell Boost A Pump (BAP.) $200.

i have run a BAP for 4 years along w a Cosmo pump. i run 850/1600 injectors and log digitally my fuel pressure thru the Power FC datalogit. so i KNOW my fuel pressure. i have run my injectors to 90% and there has been no drop off in fuel pressure.

the advantages over running a huge noisy pump are you only get uprated fuel delivery when you need it. the BAP triggers only when you are in boost. it sends more (up to an adjustable 50%) juice to the pump. the rest of the time you just cruise around w your walbro or cosmo pump on idle.

visit Kenne Bell's website and read lots of tech on the BAP.

it sure made my fuel system simple. BTW, i have mine set on a 20% increase in voltage under boost.

It doesn't matter. Any high powered car isn't going to hook up without slicks, et streets, or drag radials, regardless of weight. A single turbo Supra is a pig, but will light the tires at 70mph, even on pump gas.

on a roadcourse, a well sorted 350 rwhp FD would prob leave these single monsters behind

it's all for show and dyno queen exhibits

Mark, with my new setup I'm making full boost almost 1000 rpms sooner than my old setup. Plus, the entire powerband feels stronger, I'm sure my new dyno chart will bear that out. My new setup at 15 psi would murder my old setup at the same boost level. My big mistake was going non-seq on the BNRs, if they had been seq from the beginning I may have kept them.

He pussed out when I wanted a rematch before I took the car down for the single install, so who knows when we'll line up again, probably not until April when it warms up a bit.

Once my boost gauge starts reading this high all the time, I don't think many V8s out there will stand a chance unless they're making some serious power

damn.... 1k rpm SOONER than the BNRs...... wow.

my first choice was the 500r for the extra power.... then i thought id just go with Aspecs GT35R kit because of the quicker responce and good power at tops 400rwhp at 15psi...... but now im doubting the GT35R will acually spool up fast and be more effient than the 500r

if i go with the 500r OR the GT35R im going to run at around 13-15psi (which do you think is better? and on which kit?).... i DONT really want more than 400rwhp, so somthing in the range of 385-300rwhp will be perfect.... which kit from your experience do you think will be fast and more effient with the boost and rwhp im looking at

just want your opinion..... im going to to ask Sean about this.... but also wanted to see what you thinkg because ur running the 500r now and i read somwhere u had a GT35'd FD before?

mild streetported 13B btw

Keep in mind that I'm also running a full 4 inch turboback exhaust with the 500R which I am sure helps with the spool, and my old setup were non-sequential BNRs.

Based on the application you described, I think the GT35R T4 will be perfect for you....the 500R is mainly for those who want to crank the boost to about double the psi you described

that's an interesting assertion, I wonder what it would take to verify it

thanks.

i will be running either a custom 3.5" w/ magnaflow mufflers from Aspec or a Greddy SP with resonated pipe

and i am hoping the magnaflow will be quieter

actually, exhaust gas velocity should be higher with a 3" exhaust, so it seems spool would be faster

of course, with the decreased pressure drop, ultimate hp would be higher, but I suspect it's a minor difference

what is the estimated gas flow at peak rpm?
