GT35R FD build @ jeroentje.nl

Hello,

I'm Jeroen from The Netherlands owner of a shop 90% doing Mazda.
So after a couple of years driving in a Protege V6 it was time for some faster car.
in 2005 I bought this 92 RX-7 FD3S

Engine was working fine and after a couple of months we changed the outside.

- Cwest bodykit
- removed sidemarkers
- removed mirrors
- removed rear wiper and washer
- removed antenna
- carbon wing
- carbon mirrors
- carbon Seibon hood
- projector headlights
- 5zigen 18inch wheels
- AST suspension
- and small rhings more.

Then it looked like this:

After some track days we had some problems with the rat nest.
Then I made it non seq. Still had some boost problems.

It became winter so a perfect time to change the inside.

To do list:

- GT35R T3 1.06 turbo
- 46mm wastegate
- Apexi Power FC
- Apexi AVC-R Boost controller
- Extreme fuel system (thanx Jason)
- custom interooler setup (V mount)
- custom radiator
- custom turbo manifold
- custom exhaust system
- custom hood to match the intercooler
- custom wiring harnass
- remove ABS
- remove power steering
- remove airco
- remove waterpomp and thermostat (going electric)
- altenator at airco pump position

Pics of the start:

Try to figure out the position of the turbo

making the perfect intercooler

ehm... that is large

V mount with a changed Skyline R32 radiator

Coils and ignitor module together (without the 2m. wire harnass)

I try to update along with the project.

nice looking v mount setup

Jeroen,

nice looking Vmount. how much work did the GTR radiator need to fit in? did you weld shut the upper (inlet) and reposition it or did you leave it as is? I think maybe the lower's angle would be pretty good.

you will like the 35R in as far as boost and spool go, but there are some issues with the cartridge, do a quick search a lot of guys have blown them, the makers claim its due to heat and a cooling issue, I think after helping my firend blow his it might be due to the small t-3 turbine entrance I think it concentrates to much heat around the cartridge due to its restrictive nature in comparison to the t4 hotside.....

We removed the complete top with the cap from the radiator and put on a new top with just one connection.
Because the radiator is at the very low... just a few mm. above the bumper we made a side connection.

The only place to pick up a T4 hotside is with Aspec and when I started he wasn't selling the without a complete kit.
The T3 was on stock at the Garret import company and a lot cheaper for me.
I have seen some great numbers out here with the T3 version.
Try to cool it down as max. as possible.

small update.

3 inch downpipe done.
Schreamer pipe done.
Electric waterpomp is here, so now trying to figure out the piping.

We made a copy of a stock hood.
Made one from FRP and now we are creating a air duct to fit the intercooler.
At the end of the hood we will make some air outlets so the hot air can escape the engine bay.

Sneak preview

I am drooling over the hood. Like it very much. Although I wouldn't know about driving that on the street...

See that style hood on a Britcar car (race series). Meant to work well.

Small update.

Ripped out the wiring.
I will make some new.
It was a RHD but now I ripped everything out so I will make it LHD with some Wilwood pedals.

I'm trying to figure out the intercooler and cooling piping

We made a mold of the prototype hood and made a new one with the mold.
Put it on the car so I can mount the intercooler in place

Strange hood when it is open

Greddy Elbow almost gone
