I just spent 12 sessions in my FD on a set on Toyo T1-Rs. Most of the drivers in my group were on R comps, but none were faster. Though I do care too much for the Kumho 712s, there was a respectably fast 911 in my group running them. He did not quite have the grip I had, but they were working for him.

If you learn to drive fast on street comps, then when you do switch to R comps you'll be much faster because you won't have masked bad habits. Street tires help learn to be smooth, maximize the line and use all the grip there.

This weekend I turned the boost down to 10 psi, it was well over 90 deg on the track (Rockingham is like a microwave with the stands trapping heat) and I was trying new lines. I still managed to get slightly quicker laps than those from last fall where it was much cooler and running 12-13 psi.

Here is a little cat and mouse with that Porsche. He's really fast in NASCAR 1 & 2, but he loses so much ground on the infield I'm able to get a pass. I guess I'm too chicken because I kept it under 110 mph in the banking. If I had been focusing more on the track and less on him I'd have caught him faster. Next time he may be to tough to catch.

I can see the point with the tires, but not much else.

I thought we were going to see rose petals falling onto the video when that music started playing, haha.

Now THAT I understand and respect, haha. When the whole tire issue came up about you not using race tires, I remembered you saying you were looking for cheap or free tires so I figured that might be why you were looking for those. I can understand, I gotta take out loans to do mods, haha. I'd love to whip some Porsches, and whoever else that has money and I beat them with something I built in my garage.

Well he was fast. It seems like I was able to outbrake him and exit the turns a tad faster. I'm far from being expert fast. An instructor in a Z06 pulled away from me so fast I may as well have been in my Volvo.

I had several inquisitive folks stop by my garage space, but no one from the forum that I know of. We had 2 FDs, one FC and one race prepped FB. The "orange crush" FB was driven by my instructor Russ Marshall.

Does anyone know how, or if you can, set the following items to default on? I can't find anything in the user profile options or elsewhere that does it. Is it cookie related, i.e. keep it where you set it until you change it only if you have the right cookie turned on, which I may not as I'm cookie intolerant. ;)

The only one that stays on for me is 'Automatically parse links in text'.

Worse, after a preview and then more editing it unchecks, one or both (never consistant, weird), of what I'd already checked previously, therefore requiring me to edit the post if I want to have it like I intended. aarrrrggghhhh!!!

See you there Bert!
I'm such an idiot. I was actually talking to Greg, I don't know why I called you Bert, haha. In my defense it was about 2am and I was tired as hell, haha, aside from the fact that I'm so psyched about the meet again.

^Sorry we won't see you there, and although for some reason my POS computer won't show the pics and I can't see your engine, I'm happy for you, haha. Have fun with that, I feel your pain with the lack of cashflow.

Hey guys,

Sorry that I could not make it to the meet tonight, but I will catch everyone at the next one. How many cars showed up and what are the plans for July?

You're really gonna do it, put a piston engine in an AE? I thought it was just a joke. V8 isn't that a veggie juice? Didn't know they made engines, or are they you're sponsor?

What to do on a Rainy Summer evening in Raleigh?

If you are a rotorhead and have a running RX car here's what some people did last Saturday:
8's in the Rain

and we had 7's in the Rain

Rotorheads outta the Rain

Father and Son

S4 Brothers

Nitrous installed!

Here is the nitrous install with hood down

Rainin' Cajuns

Remember all, next Drive-In will be a Beaver Dam Recreation area for a cookout and to welcome David back to civilian life and job hunting. Bring a door prize and some food, see perkystina's post for more details.

The chief export of Chuck Norris is pain. Or so I've heard. (He's right behind me, HEEEELP!)

I didn't realize the cookout was on for the next meet. I gotta get ahold of a door prize. What would be a good example? And who's bringing what for food?

Drivers wanted: There is a possibility of an MSCCNC autocross and/or autox school. This is an excellent opportunity.

We are hoping to keep it limited to Mazdas, but its possible that could be relaxed. So as of now, any Mazda in good running condition. If anyone is seriously interested post to that topic. Price should be in the $ 25-35 range for members, but I cannot be held to that since we are in the early stages of gauging interest. That is where we are taking the pulse for this. If anyone is unfamiliar with autox, here is some good general info:
http://www.thscc.com/autocross/info/faq.html
Don't worry about being competitive. I suck at it and that won't be stopping me.
