Saturdays In Raleigh, Nc
hey people. i was just talking to a guy on the rrdi.org real cool guy from out in Pittsboro SN on here is 2ndgen12a and and 12A2NDGEN on the rrdi site.
anyhow, he has a car shop out there, and wants to host a meet/cookout, sometime soon. since we have been looking to do something different, about once a month. i thought this would be good idea, to get out of town for a day. maybe we could find a back road route to get there instead of flying straight in. its about 30minutes from raleigh. just a thought. let me know what you guys think. I think it would be fun. That, christina's housewarming, and a beach trip/meet, and whatever random summer events, should make for an action packed summer.
P.S. like we "discussed" in the meet yesterday, i am going to start posting more, on the rrdi site, and less on this thread. eventually/soon i think we want to let this thread die, and move to rrdi.org. the chat window is actually really cool.

Is the 1st weekend in July good with everyone? say the 7th? There is alot of stuff to do around here also. I can make reservations to do some sight seeing. There is the NC State aquarium, the battleship and Im also going to look into taking the ferry over to southpoint, then we can drive back over, the backroads are fun.

eric, are we going to have to keep a thread open called, "so speedjunkie can post at work" hahaha. that would be awesome. hahaha.
also, while we can fuxor with the PFC, and lean it out some. the only harm you will do in putting it in as is, might be that it runs a bit rich. an ECU programmed for more mods is much safer than one setup for less mods (less mods = more lean = blown engine) I would say throw it in there. if nothing else, that rascal will give you a lot of feedback from your sensors, and let you know if anything is out of spec. TPS, IAC, o2, etc. makes troubleshooting sensors easy. if we can get the car running then we can worry about the tune (no sarcasm)
also as time/money allows, you might want to consider getting a datalogit. interfaces with a laptop, and makes the PFC much easier to manipulate, as well as adding additional functions that you can't tap into with the commander.

Yeah, let's see if we can get the mods to rename this thread haha. That would be funny as hell.
Yeah I figured I'd run rich, but I wasn't sure just how much more. I didn't want to mess it up even more. But you're right, I'd much rather run rich than lean. I'm going to try a couple more things before putting it in there.
I want to get a datalogit right now but I don't have any money, haha. I would have gotten in on the GB if I'd had the PFC already. I don't have a laptop to use either though haha. I'll look through the sale section and see if I can find one. Should I get the one with the serial cable or the USB cable?

assuming he had OEM injectors in there. it wouldnt run rich at idle or startup, only under boost.
i am serious dude you should throw it in. it will give you a display of all your sensor voltage outputs. it makes troubleshooting sensors a breeze.
get the one with USB, most laptops don't have a serial port anymore. that is straight old skool. haha.

Well I don't have a laptop anyway, and I was planning on getting a cheap used one to use just for this, which may end up being an older one. The one with USB is only $20 more, making it $395 brand new from NZ, which is still too rich for my blood right now.
I might go ahead and put it in tonight then, I am kinda excited...not like I'll be able to reap the benefits though so I'm not sure why I'm so happy, haha.

you might be able to. i think it will help troubleshoot, IF it is a sensor of somesort. it'll also tell you your ignition timing, etc. it has a lot of feedback.
old laptops would have a USB and serial. new ones only USB. so either way USB FTW.
we gotta get you up and running before the beach meeting.
even if it means rebuild.

Well I guess I'll look for one with the USB cable, or buy it separately from the dealer in NZ if I can find a used datalogit for cheaper.
Well, only one problem with that...money. I don't have the money for a rebuild kit (or engine for that matter), not yet anyway. Hopefully it will be ready by winter, haha.
Josh are you just post whoring to get to 3000? LOL
