I was just messin' with ya of course. I'm hoping to make it to NOPI, but have recently discovered (about an hour ago actually) that I may have to work this weekend. But as soon as I know, you all will know. Perky, I got a deal for ya (I left you a voicemail about it). There is a VR 94 Touring FD (with R1 lip and rear spoiler) here for $9500, new tires, roll bar already installed, fairly new slotted/drilled brake rotors, interior is in good condition, IIRC it has 115k miles, looks to have ALOT of maint. records if not all, 3" exhaust all the way back although I don't know what kind, Knight Sports computer (supposedly the guy had to use a JDM wiring harness so he had some trouble wiring it up but it should be all good now). The only problem is it has a blown engine, but they say it comes with a good one for free, so all you'd need is install. The engine bay looks pretty stock. And it has a Clifford alarm. I got some pics from when my buddy Inacio was looking at it. They say they're putting it on Ebay this week so you or whoever better hurry. Oh, I almost forgot. The guy wrecked it, I think they said a couple years ago, and the place that has the car right now are the ones that fixed it. You can see on the front, the bumper doesn't line up correctly, but it's not TOO bad. It does have a clean title, I've seen the CARFAX report. I tried to get one done here on the forums to make sure they weren't doctoring it but no one seemed eager to help.

Victor (PR_soldier) is also looking at selling his FC, he wanted me to tell everyone. I don't remember what all he has done to it, but it sounds pretty nice. You'll have to ask him more about it (sorry Victor, haha). He's not new to this, so you can expect a quality car. I'm not sure of an asking price or when it will officially go on the market, just wanted to let you guys know.

My trip to Florida this weekend was spectacular. I just got back today at around 11am, to come to work 6pm tonight, haha. When we were out on the water yesterday we saw some dolphins, it was pretty cool. And my sister-in-law's brother let me drive his Porsche 968(?), front engine 4-cyl. It was his boat we went out on, he's a super nice guy. I have pics and videos of the trip I can show you guys next time I see you. Oh, and when I was driving through Georgia I woke up just in time to see a 99 spec white FD as well. That kept me awake for a little bit, haha. Oh well, gotta get back to work.

Yeah, sorry Josh. I did just find out that we're working 12s this weekend, both days. It sucks. I really wish I could go.

Actually I don't think the price on that car is too bad, as long as the frame isn't damaged from the accident. It does have a clean title so if you fix the front to make it look factory again, no one would ever know the difference. We didn't notice anything indicating frame damage. With fresh paint, new tires, and just a nice car overall, I don't think it's too bad a price. I would buy it if I had the money.

Just in case anyone is confused, we will be having the second Saturday RRDI this weekend as usual. Those going to NOPI will just have to be back at the Char Grill for the Drive-In by 6:30 PM. :0)

Anyone not going to Rockingham for NOPI can join me and the rest of the gang at the Char Grill.

Oh, Perky Congrats Y'all can get married next April at Deals Gap?

Josh, if you can't get a ride to Rockingham we'll still let you come to the Drive In. If you don't remember where we meet I'll be glad to meet up and escort you in to the Char Grill.

thanks bert. i have an offer to ride with christina, although she mentioned something about being able to fold myself in half. she must be talking about the back seat of the SRT-4 LOL. plus, I don't know if you guys would want a betrayer of the brotherhood at the chargrill.

i guess since i paid $13K for mine with about 70K miles on it 2-3 years ago, running, and in excellent condition. however, i guess they are getting more rare, and therefore the price is going up or at least maintaining.

anyhow, have fun working. trust me i know what it's like to miss events due to work.

Since I've been working midnights I know I've been out of the loop on a lot of stuff. Do I want to know what you meant above? The only way you could betray the rotary brotherhood is to abandon your FD and I know that would never happen. So what's going on with you?

lol i posted on RRDI.org. For those who don't know I blew my engine about a week ago. I am going LS1; that's what i meant Bert. I haven't abandoned the FD3S, just the RX7/13b. My rotary experiment failed twice, and that is enough for me. So i guess my car is going to be an LS1X-1(LS1 eXperiment 1) or something like that, maybe LX-1, but always a FD3S. The project should be done by the end of july, if all goes according to plan.

Sorry guys, but all i have to say is 400+RWHP with no reliability issues, is too much for me to resist. I suppose I have gone to the darkside, maybe i will change my name to Vader. LOL sorry i know that is corny, but i can't resist.

^DAMN, the end of July!? I figured it would be a while. I can see why you're doing it though, no hard feelings here. I just can't give up on the rotary yet, haha.

There might be a chance I'll get off work tomorrow, depending on how these inspectors wanna work it. Depending on what times they come to inspect the equipment, I might be able to make it out there tomorrow but it will probably be kinda later in the afternoon. I'll get off at 6am tomorrow morning and I'll need my sleep, whether I have to work or not. So I might still see you guys out there.

I've owned several rotaries during the last 10 years. The NA's were superbly reliable. The FD's were predicatble not as reliable. The only trump I can think the 13b-rew has over an LS1 is its revability. Owning an FD is an emotional thing. Logic is defied. I can understand the LS1 swap in the pursuit of more reliable uber power.

I've stuck with the 13b-rew because for me 300 or so whp is enough for what i do. I can hunt down most anything on the track and if not then that means I need to work more on my driving. But Josh, is more of a tinkerer...a scientist...he seems to like engineering. Aso for me, having a rotary is special. Its like having a steam powered car or a sailing vessel. Its not better, but eccentric in character. Just cool.

Josh, I can't wait to see it. I know you'll do a great job. Maybe you'll pave the way for a couple of us FD guys in Central NC.

Im with ya Josh...as cool as your FD is...for the money a V8 swap is the way to go. I drove a 1st gen V8 with about 400 rwhp...it was scary fast. I am a rotorhead...but you just can't beat the price and torque of a V8. That could be my next project.

These are exactly the words I've been searching for to describe my feeling for it as well. Not so much the "logic is defied" part, but that definitely is true too, haha. This is going in my sig.

i agree, and i went against my better judgement the first time, to preserve the heart of the beast. i love the rotary. after taking my first engine apart i marvelled at the simplicity, and beauty. i love the concept of the rotary, it is internal combustion at its simplist.

that being said, i think my hunger for power in the 400RWHP~ range is unfortunately better satiated by 8 pistons.

also as a side note, though the LS1s stock redline is 6K, with minor valvetrain mods it can be made to rev and pull to 7K(higher if you have big money). after owning a rotary i will definitely be trying to raise my redline as much as possible. i will miss the extra 2K of revs.

also, i will be taking my time with this one. realistically, it will probably be more like the middle of august, before she is done done, but driveable by end of July. Of course we all know how projects go it'll probably be december LOL
