Hey! That's not funny.
I have enuff love for the rotary that if he had one, we'd just be competing the whole time... now what kind of relationship is that??
I'll be the stubborn RX-7 driver, that refuses to own anything that isn't rotary, unless of course it's a Supra... but y'all dont have to worry, cuz an FC is much more affordable and reliable than making expensive repairs and mods on a Supra... let alone the insurance!
...So I am sticking to FCs for a while. I am hoping to get my hands on a Turbo II within the next year and a half, once I get my current FC painted/body kit/wing/rims/muffler/etc. She has LOTS of potential, just needs lots of TLC. I'm gonna end up putting all my money into my car... gosh. I'll STILL be poor, but at least my car looks good and runs well, right?
I'll be a poor college kid AGAIN, but at least I will look stylish going to and from school.

Everyone except the perky-girl gonna make it to the Char Grill this Saturday? Can anyone now take her seriously as an FC owner? She is gonna pass up a drive-in to see a guy that doesn't even drive a rotary!

I'm only passing up the drive-in cuz he is going underway next week, and he has duty this weekend. Otherwise, his Dodge-drivin-butt would be coming HERE. I don't wanna miss a meeting, but I only get to see him on the weekends anyway. *whines*

Christina, we understand your predicament, its just that we're all jealous of that hot FC and will miss it this Saturday. Let us know how the drive up to Nawfolk turns out. Call us Saturday we'll want to know that you made it OK.
David, The 4th Saturday in March will be the 26th. That'll be the last Saturday as well and will be the last drive-in before the Deals Gap trip.
When and where are you guys meeting to head to the mountains? What time are you planning on leaving? I'm debating on leaving Thursday or Friday. I'm starting to get the feeling that I'll be the only one coming from the coast, since Tyler backed out and Alex still has to put in his engine.

andy,
i went with a sound performance sp63, they make custom turbos based on precision turbo internals.
christina,
more than likely i will have a seat open, unless something changes.

Well I dropped my car off today. It should be ready in two weeks or less. I'm replacing the fender, bumper, and mirror from the accident. The whole car will be repainted, with all the little dings and dents repaired. I'm also replacing the sunroof with one from Steve's parts car, because the old panel had some rust on it. It should all look as clean as Bert's when everything's done.
i'll be in the state in april!
woohoo! I will be in the asheville saluda area. PM me i can help you out. I will also be there in march 8-15th. I may come up that way. I am thinking about trying to get up there as tookwik needs some help with his clutch. If he is still in need of help, i may come up that way while there in march. If not than April
meantime "smoken" on the boards here can probably help you out. See y'all in a little while!
^ My first southern saying!
, Also Bond007 as stated below is good with the FD.

I am getting help from a fellow forum member named Ashraf who lives in the Durham area (Bond007 on here). He has done a great job so far, he is a very thorough person. He doesn't work on cars as a living so it takes a while and he is kinda booked right now. He will probably finish my car in early March and then another of the local guys, Andy, is having his car worked on. Then Ashraf is going to try to get his car ready for VIR in June so you would be looking at a long wait so you might want to find someone else, not sure who else is around here.

Decide on when you're leaving and how you want to join up and we'll work with you and anyone else that will be coming up with you.

I wouldn't go to clean and fast. The guy who owned my car before me took it there for a new engine and stuff since the car had no engine in it when he bought it from the original owner. I don't know what the hell the guys at clean and fast did but it wasn't right, not sure if this is an isolated incident or what. All I know is I had to scrap the motor they put in cause it was unrebuildable.

From what I've heard base on many "insider":
Avoid clean and fast at all cost
McNair is pretty good but will cost you an arm and leg for their service
Ashraf is what I recommend too but you guys will probably have to wait until he finish up Rob car first, then my car and Ashraf's own upgrades before he will have time to book more. Ashraf does do a good job base on my personal experience. If you willing to go a bit of distance, Rotorsport also have a good reputation too http://www.rotorsportsracing.com/

I have heard mixed reviews about C&F.
On one hand you have Rick(not a member of the forum) who seems to have some great experiences with C&F. His car is well built and runs fine. He is a very knowledgeable guy and probably did a lot of research before letting C&F do any work; asked questions, inspected the work, etc.
I think Bert had some good experience with him, too. (Can't remember 100% though) Again, Bert strikes me as someone like Rick, a person who does his homework before letting a mechanic work on his cars.
On the other hand I saw Rob's car before it went into Ashraf's shop and Clean and Fast had messed it up. They had done a lot of shody work, and this was supposedly the owner's brother's car, originally(correct me if my memory fails me, Rob) It probably didn't help the fact that the person who bought it didn't do any research beforehand. I asked him some basic questions and his answer to most were "I dunno, it was that way when I bought it for C&F."
Obviously, not a car enthusiast. Again, I am glad that FD finally found a good home. It hurts every time I see a RX7 being mistreated.
Upshot is if you have a small job, pretty much know how to do it yourself, butjust don't want to tackle it yourself, Clean and Fast might be an alternative. Ashraf seems to be very thorough, and has always been very helpful. However, he is a one man, part-time operation and it looks like he is booked til at least June. Rotorsports seems to be an good shop, but they are in Kannapolis like someone else mentioned.
Anyhow, I hadn't written a long post in a while and had some spare time at 7:30A before heading out to the garage.
Good luck everyone and see you sometime around 5:00P or so. I will try an bring a sample of my powdercoating. It will be something small, since everything else is pretty much bolted to the engine.

Well I had some very good experiances with clean & fast. They bought my old 7 from me and I bought the new 7 from them as well. Everything they did for me was fine, but this was when they were at their old location where they specialized in ONLY rx7's, now they work on all imports I guess because they weren't getting enough business. Jerry is a great guy but when he gets short on money I get the impression that he takes shortcuts, thats the only downside to him that I've seen, well... he also is a very good seller (he'll make you think one thing just to get you in, then work you for more money) Bottomline, he knows his stuff with rx7's very well. I've seen him do a vacuum job in a couple hours (would take me a day or 2) as well. Anyways, Its early and I may be a little hungover so I'm gonna go take a little nap and I will see you guys tonight! BTW - Pray for State to beat Wake Forest at 4 this afternoon. (look for me, I'll be courtside)
Rick never had Jerry (of Clean and Fast) rebuild the motor in his FD. He did it all himself, and he continues to do most of the work on that car himself. Rick brings his car to Clean and Fast because Jerry is good at diagnosing problems, and because he has the equipment (lift etc) to get stuff done pretty fast. It wasn't like the previous owner of Rob's car.
