Anybody going to DGRR?

The 1st gens will be making a showing this year.
It was still drivable but insurance totaled it. I still look at ones for sale from time to time, but perhaps I should finish some of these other projects before taking on any new ones :-)

I'll be at DGRR! Not sure what days yet.

Did you buy it back, or let insurance take it? If you kept it, any plans for it?

I pondered for a while and eventually let them take it. The buy back price was pretty high, a few hundred less than I paid for the car... Hot and cold starts were getting worse by the day, so I didn't see much value in the motor. It already had a rebuilt title too, so that discouraged me from wanting to sink a lot of time/money into it, when I see decent cars with blown engines for only a few grand . Those reasons plus all the other projects I've got led me to just let them take it. I hope to get another 8 some day, if Tara would let me I'd harass Kristy for that pretty blue R3... haha

Yes, OGTA is tonight. 6:30, Hooters Mall of Georgia. I should be there.

I didn't realize the starts were getting worse, otherwise I would have said throw a cheap bumper on it and track car!

Yes sir!!

The mower will be there for sure. I might bring my latest toy instead of the rx3 though? Not sure yet? What do you think?

No Reserve: 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia for sale on BaT Auctions - ending February 18 (Lot #66,131) | Bring a Trailer

Well as soon as this blue turd is gone I'll be back to driving the old RX7 again. Oh boy I can't wait to get rid of this VW. The RX is definitely more my style.

GLWS! Hope it fetches a pretty penny on BAT. I'm considering trying to list my T2 on there.

A TII ain't no Karman Ghia Brett.

For one thing, a TII doesn't have a carb.

For another, a TII doesn't have the looks.

James, your Ghia is a work of art. I'll bet it fetches a pretty penny and then some.

But a Ghia doesn't have a Wankel. That is a pretty car, James. I'm sure it will do well.

Have you finally seen the light and decided to trade your 7s in for another 8?

Haha, to be honest I really just want the T2's parking space opened back up for the FD :-). I should've made the garage 20' wider! But if I came across a pretty white RX8 for a good deal, I might just jump on it... It was the perfect compromise, a rotary that could do daycare runs for the 3 smaller kids...

I hope the Ghia's price pops in the final 24 hours James!

Don't discriminate Ray.... Tii's can have carbs. Tii's can have Nikki's.

I hope it catches a buck or two.

"But a Ghia doesn't have a Wankel."

No Wankel Tommy, but lots of ****.

And it's not the Wankel that's the problem with the TII, it's the EFI.

A Wankel without a Nikki is like Batman without Robin.

A ***** without *********.

Bush without Cheney.

OGTA without Felix.

It's plain and simple, EFI sucks. Or blows, whatever.

And yeah, a TII with a Nikki has possibilities.

Good luck with the Ghia James, I'm sure it will fetch a buck or two. That's one pretty car.

Ray, have I ever showed you the bottom side of an FC throttle body? At least on the non-turbo models, they have NIKKI cast into them! That's right!

Must have been some conspiracy going on at Mazda back then.

If you need the space, I'd be glad to look after the FD or TII for a while...

Holy cow, what an auction. I don't wanna do that ever again. But I got some dough to sink into the best money pit out there, my 84' FB.

Get ready for a ball bearing turbo, custom nikki intake mani 6 speed FB.

Congratulations! That was fun to watch. My mustang was like that where it doubled in the last day. Most of the action in the BAT auctions is first and last day when they are in the email. The days I between can be disconcerting for a seller but it usually turns out good in the end.
