I'm liking this Camaro ad at the bottom of the page. "Chevy Camaro Starting MSRP is Over $26,500 less than RX-8"

So they are about free?

Rotary Compression Tester

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-rx-7-1979-1985-parts-101/rotary-compression-tester-sale-870592/

Anyone interested in going in on a rotary compression tester? David Girod has this up for sale. Some of you guys know David. If we get 4 guys to split the cost it would not be too expensive.

Ray, I'm thinking I should make my way up to your house for one more Sunday to grab the last few things I keep suddenly remembering from my car before it's crushed, things like the speakers that I left in the front, the cup holder divider thing, the old radio's wiring harness, and the little aluminum carriage for it, and maybe a few other things that I probably have just kept forgetting. I could just tell you, but I feel like if I see it, I'll be able to nab exactly what I want better, since last time I left without sunlight to really make sure I had everything. I'll also be paid again by then, and can do the next payment. I do not like owing money for long.

Also, I still cannot for the LIFE of me find my FC shift **** Collin gave me, I had brought it to put on SPII before driving home but I don't know if it fell out of a box hidden somewhere in the mustang, SP I or SP II or your yard?

Last thing, my brakes are being VERY weird, I'll bring SPII to the OGTA and you guys can see for yourself, it's quite hard to explain, but long story short, if I hook up my brake booster to ta vacuum source, my brakes stay locked on on four corners, i I remove the vacuum source, the pedal gets lighter and the brakes will fully release.

I also need to tally a few more series 3 interior bits together, like you gave me the ashtray, but not the mechanism that it hinges on, and you gave me a glove box, but you took out the little part inside that the latch clips on, so my glove box won't close and stay closed, etc. Oh, and the fan speed **** doesn't slide onto the little stick it's supposed to rotate on, did htose change in 84 and 85 or is there some sort of adapter? The know has a D-shaped hole, but the little rod it is supposed to go on is a full circle.

Gosh there is just so much left with this car in the long run, but things are working well for now, I got almost all the dash put together.

Crit, bring the plug, that'll be convenient, I know it's cheap but I have just not had time to go get one, thank you.

Everyone who said congrats, thanks, sorry I am writing so much but I am just overwhelmed with things at the moment having just built a car.

Tomorrow's meet looks to be a fun one. I've got class again...

Anywho, what's up with all the funny rotary powered cars lately on CL?

I will hopefully be bringing the 13B with the 465 bolted on tomorrow! I just need to throw some gas in the tank, and it should run a bit. At least well enough to get me to the meet. Hopefully one of you guys can look, call me stupid for missing something simple, and fix it. I won't be there till like 7.30 at the earliest, so I'll bring a flashlight.

Mike I think I'm beyond the compression tester phase and am going straight into rebuild mode. So unless there is real interest in the tester (ie at least two other people) I think I'll pass.

Sounds like a plan Chris, be a nice nostalgic drive for the old White One.

Quad I'm dying to see at least one of your cars running. I hope you make it!

See ya'll this evening at Jeffery's!

I honestly would have expected just the factory roof to do a bit better than that.

Well, solved the mysterious brake problem, it's really stupid, but I'll explain at OGTA.

I'm guessing we either:

A) forgot to put the foam spacer in that positions the brake booster about 1/4 inch away from the firewall, or

B) had the connection from the peddle shaft to the brake master cylinder push rod hooked up wrong.

It was B.

B)Shaun put the little pin that holds the booster piston onto the pedal shaft BEHIND the pedal shaft rather than through the drilled hole, so the peddle drove the piston down(rather than forward into the brake booster), and binded the system with full pressure, thus both locking the brakes and making for a super stiff pedal.

Car brakes fin now, though that messed the clutch up a lot. I also need some good gear oil, the stuff we used at Rays house has caused a BUNCH of gear noise. I'll address that when I do the clutch and flywheel.

Well that's great. It sounds like you've got a solid car with some noises, but mechanically it sounds damn-near 100% sorted. Now you just need some S3 red interior bits, like center console and such. That, and a manual-steering S3 steering shaft / firewall boot. Very good news.

And yeah, Ray, Roland was right about the bed on the REPU. Until I double-wall the bed walls or put some super-thick spray-in stuff back there, I can't put anything more than half a pound in the bed unless it's very secure. Every single turn on the way home would mean a new dent sticking out the side of the truck. Back when they were cheap old jap trucks, that was okay, but now they're precious!

Got it Crit, let's not dent that bed! Besides I couldn't figure out how to fit that big old floor jack in my car, with the handle on it it's too long to fit without the back hatch being open (not an option for various reasons). So I just have the jack stands this evening, if we can figure out how to get the handle off the floor jack maybe Chris can bring it into town this weekend.

Chris are you sure the tranny noises are because of the gear oil? I don't see how it could make that much difference, especially since the stuff we drained out looked like it had been in there a few years. Glad to hear the brakes are working right again, that's a nice system to have.

Here's the templates for Billy's newly revised OGTA cards, I've printed up a bunch so see me this evening if you need to restock

Wanda's transmission whines just a bit louder with the Coastal in there versus whatever was in there before. But what I believe Chris's problem is, is his shifter turret doesn't have any gear oil in it. Without it, the shifter is going to make quite a lot of noise. Filling it should shut it's mouth.

On a rather disappointing note, Mutt won't be making it out to the meet with me this time either ;( He's sick. Which sucks, big time, cuz right now he's laying in bed in the room behind me looking half dead, and there's nothing I can do about it.

Chris, I've got your bolt.

Well, I plan on seeing everyone tonight. If someone's bringing a compression tester to the meet I'll volunteer my car as a test subject to see how my 35k mi old engine is wearing. =)
