Timing is good for me to be in on the second production year on the new 7 (2011), I should have the house refinanced by then and the economy should be screaming once the stimulus plan kicks in, for real this time instead of for the benefit of a handful of disgustingly rich people.

I think I'll place an order, anticipating a year or two waiting period. What color do you guys think I should get? Traditional white or silver would be nice, 7's look good in those. Anybody got any pictures of what it's going to look like? There is of course no doubt that the new 7 will look and have similar design features to the 1st and 3rd generations, probably with models covering both, a 1st gen "sports" model and a 3rd gen "touring" model.

That CAD job is looking pretty attractive, now that we know about the undie perks. Jackson said he wasn't interested but Greg the Elder just might be, over qualified as he is. He loves kicking around the house in his underwear and I don't think he knew about the undie clause when he turned it down last time.

"After our going to lengths to dispute the likelihood of any RX-7 coming to us any time in the next decade, Inside Line reckons it’s had an inside source at Mazda’s Hiroshima HQ confirm that a new Mazda RX-7 is indeed on the way, though no dates were given.

According to IL’s source, Mazda’s efforts to promote the Renesis engine over the past decade means the company will not allow the rotary engine to fall into the pages of history yet again.

IL’s man on the inside said that development of a new RX-7 is “well along”, and that the next-gen sports car will feature a front-midship-mounted 16X rotary engine making upwards of 201kW (270hp) without any form of forced induction.

The new 16X engine is believed to be built on a 800cc x 2 configuration, as opposed to the 13B’s 654cc x 2 format. Despite the higher capacity, fuel economy is improved by some 20 percent – a factor which will go a long way towards improving the rotary’s image as an oil-burning engine with poor economy and high emissions.

Inside Line says the new (FE?) RX-7 will feature a new twin-clutch six-speed manual transmission, with a feature that will allow drivers to set the revs at which the clutches engage.

An all-new chassis is supposedly part of the project, and Mazda has managed to cut as good as 100kg (220lb), bringing the car down to around 1197kg.

Little else was offered regarding a new RX-8 and the oft-rumoured (and possibly hydrogen-powered) RX-9, except to say that projects for both cars are underway."
I read that when it broke on Thursday, but I wouldn't call it a holy **** moment. It's still a long way off, they haven't announced any success with the 16X (just that they're testing), there's still no official word of the car, which would be unusual for a car that would debut in 2010, and we haven't seen any renderings or show cars. Don't start emptying the 401k yet.

By the way, if anyone wants to do a little wrenching this weekend, my new GSL-SE is getting a tranny swap this afternoon in Sugar Hill (across the interstate from Jeffrey's).

All the beer you can drink.

Well guys, I appreciate the offer, but I found out this afternoon that we'll be taking my mom to Cirque du Soleil, which will be an all day affair. As such, I just finished up a marathon session to get the tranny replaced solo through the night. I just can't stand loosing a weekend with so many things to do.

If I get time tomorrow, i'll take her out on a test drive and if all goes well, get ready to list her on eBay and craigslist.

Be sure to get the grease out from under your fingernails before going out with the mom Crit, mom's are sensitive about things like that.

If you can get the car high enough in the air, you can just bench press the tranny in and out. With an extra pair of hands, it's even easier.

yeah how far away are you?n i might could just bring it to an ogta meet, its probably closer. i know you can bench it in like crit said, but i got sick of that after about 4 times of in and out. of course, my situation was extreme and i just snapped and bought the jack. now it would be retarded not to just use it.

Man, I worked on a Jeep like a week or so ago, and STILL couldn't get the grit out from under my nails. Eventually scraped the best I could and cut them back to basically nothing. Now they are just a little black line I have failed.

One handed at that for you!

Being 35 year old I now think "work smarter not harder" so the engine hoist gets alot of use.

On a real note, how is the multicolor bar coming along? Able to do it? If not then solid silver.

Did not turn out to well. I needed to sand blast it off. The powder bled and did not form a crisp line. It is already solid black (I thought that is what you wanted if not two tone) . PM me your address.

Drivers door is finally off. Good thing I picked up those NOS outer rockers a while back, I will need them. Will need to fab a new drivers side inner rocker. Also the hind area for the doors is all busted up. So......Not done yet but do have a head start.
