Happy Birthday Collin. But Stu's right, you won't be a teenager much longer, so enjoy it while it lasts.

Alrighty, I just remembered it from that meet at your house a while ago and wondered how it was still doing.

Yep- I've already requested off the January and February OGTA meets from work, so we're good there. If gas stays this low we're even better

And now I'm sitting on my bed waiting for Collin to get here so we can take the water-pump housing off of my spare motor...

It should be. I spent a good day going through it and finally got it running. She purrs now, just got to sort out the secondaries, bleed brakes, tighten some stuff up and start daily driving it. Found some wheels but they won't be going on till I get some suspension. I can't wait to start driving it.

LoL!! Sorry Brett! That IS the one that I picked up though. He said was waiting on me buying or not, so I snatched it up.
There was a bunch of little things. For starters:
Re-wired the fuel pump.
There was no TPS... at all.
Distributor was just sitting there loose. Several leaks or parts not bolted on etc etc. After We got it to start, we couldn't keep it running only to find the MAF unplugged lol. It didn't have an Alternator but a friend did so I threw that on there.
THEN, I almost blew it up when we got it running, because the gear on teh bottom of the dist. was like 180 degrees or some crazy amount off the marks, and I probably spark knocked the motor 15 times before I realized what the noise was . Thankfully It did not blow up. Basically a day or two's worth of pidding and it runs good, starts up no flooding and isn't really smoking either. Should be a strong ride with a few tweaks.

The distributor, huh? Well there's your problem. If you really do have a distributor, then the car's been hacked quite a bit, as they originally just came with a Crank Angle Sensor. It only turns at half the speed of the engine, so 180-out is the same as being right on. Had you restabbed it just as it sat in your hands and turned the engine over once to TDC, it may have been right on the mark. That said, it's still important to check the timing, as a lot of folks get it wrong, and rotaries are notoriously tolerant of shitty timing. It'll run like *** when it's wrong, but it'll still run.

LoL. I meant CAS. I keep calling the damn thing a distributor. But yes, it was way out of wack. Like, blow your motor up from being so far out of time bad. It was running rough and everytime you would snap the throttle it made this crazy noise. After fixing the CAS and re-timing the motor it quit making the scary noise and started running much better. But thank you for keepin me in line!

Drove it last night. Secondaries are shot. Also, got back and ended up with a puddle or two of oil under the car. It was dark, and today had to work, so changing secondaries and finding huge oil leak should come this weekend.

Ehh... with what you're saying has had to be done to that car, I probably would have killed it myself since I don't know a whole lot about troubleshooting. Well I do, but you've got more experience. Hopefully the oil leak is something small like the cooler lines or the oil-pan gasket... I've got the 'vert which I'm just whoring out since there's no future for it, so if you need some S5 engine part I'd totally hook you up.

On another note, I totally got my car to make 'fire' today Someone was following me and I took 2nd to like 7500 and it made two nice little pops. But when I got home, I kinda felt bad for pushing it like that since I found a new coolant leak. I parked it next to the 'vert (which slipped off the rear damn jackstands ) and saw some smoke coming from the hood scoop and smelled a faint hint of coolant. I checked quick with my cell phone's pathetic light and found something leaking on the passenger side of the engine bay. I don't have to work until 4 tomorrow, so I'll have plenty of time to check it out and hopefully fix it.

And I'm going to be doing the transmission and clutch swap sometime after the 18th. Anyone wanna help?

Night ya'll.

Austin, I don't know much about FC's (thank goodness) but aren't they fuel injected? Secondaries are a Nikki thing (yes!). You FC kids don't even know what it's like when the secondaries kick in.

Maybe you are talking about the back up computer that runs the injectors on the weekends or something like that?

Anyway, it's a rotary, that's the good news, congrats!

Brett if you make it to the next meet I'll bring a little flashlight you can use to find those oil and coolant leaks, you need to figure that **** out and fix it.

Careful, Brett! The school *may* call the EPA on your car!

Crit, if you're listening, (rather than call you) I have next Saturday off...and Friday night off. I don't work until 2:30pm on Sunday (Not that it matters?) ... is that adequate? Good time for you?

So I found the coolant leak- and it's in a bad spot, and I might have to take the intake off once again to replace it... it's a pinhole leak, so maybe it'll hold until after sunday when I can tear it apart and drive a different car to school. I'm going to try to remove it by getting behind the UIM and somehow weasleing a pair of pliars onto the clamp. Wish me luck...

For that $100 parking spot I should be able to get my name engraved in it

And I got the convertible off of the ground. The two tires I had under it caught it with the differential and the gas tank. The tank's not damaged, and the diff looks just the same. I've gotta get the wheels off of my other car so I can get that bitch moved out of here...

Brett - Yeah the car just needed/needs a real good going through. I'm hoping the leak is just a busted line somewhere, but i'll be seeing soon. The car did/does need work, but I haven't actually spent any money getting it running yet so since I still have a boinger to daily while I get this one running I can deal with it haha. I think the only s5 part I need right now is the temperature sensor but a friend has one locally I need to go grab. The rest of the motor (intakes and such) are all s4 to make the motor work right in the car, but If I find anything I need I will definitely let you know!

Ray - Although we do not have carburetors on FC's from the factory, we do have primary and secondary injectors (which I usually just call secondaries). The car is falling on its face under any more than barely any throttle right about 3800 rpms. Should clear up when I put another set of injectors in it. Once I find the oil leak, I should be able to start driving my ugly duckling.

So I took off the intake and fixed the stupid little coolant leak, and my car's all dandy once again.

BUT I'm confused with sometime completed unrelated- I payed for my senior pictures with my debit card ($230) and the company accidentaly charged it twice. I only had like $50 left before they charged it the second time, so my account overdrew and I'm like $173 negative and I've already been charged the overdraft fees and everything. I send a message to the customer service thing explaining everything, and I plan on calling the picture company monday. But I'm stuck with no cash now, and my bank account's screwed. What should I do, financially smart elders?

Well I have found that when dealing with a debit card you can get screwed like that. It may be that they charged you twice or it may be another issue. See when someone runs a credit card they do what is called a "authorization" then at the end of the day they batch all of their cc orders. The batch, if not done correctly, will charge the card and not release the authorization. This means you are charged twice until the authorization "drops off". This is usually 5 to 7 business days. Most people never see this with a credit card since you are billed a month later and only see the final charges.

Debit cards are different. You see all the charges immediately since they pull from your bank account. This also happens when you pay at the pump. They authorize a hefty $50 to $70 charge to turn the pump. Then bill what you actually purchased in gas. A person could be out $140 for 5 days for $70 in gas.

What I would do is call the bank first. Ask them for their fax number and ask them to look at your account. Ask them to tell you if you were charged twice or if it was an authorization. Then call the company. Tell them what you found out. Ask them to "release" the authorization or "cancel" the double charge. Tell them they will need to fax a letter to the bank to explain how they messed up. Once a fax is sent, call your bank again and ask them to waive the overdraft due to "the retailers" mix up. If they will not waive the fee you can go back to the retailer and ask for it from them.

One thing though. Be nice It will get things done quicker but be prepared for up to 5 business days before the money is back in the account.

..........and happy birthday Collin!

He swore it didnt go through but when I got back home and checked my account online It charged my debit card & credit card 5 times each for over 2 grand total... I was pissed That cleaned me out for a couple of days....I wound up getting my **** straight and didnt pay for the $260 windshield.....So if I were you I would DEMAND free pictures for your inconvienience!!!
