So just confirming- were not having the Nov 4 OGTA meet since it's election day, right? If we are, I've got that day off

And I think we should have another *rotary* drive before Christmas- since gas is cheap-er and the mountains are supposed to be all pretty and what not, (and since I'm legal ). Just a thought I've been thinking of lately.

Collin- I'm going to grab those pedals tomorrow after school and head up there. You have everything off of that motor that you want, right?

And speaking of the motor- I want an OGTA opinion on it... should I fill it up with sea-foam and let it sit for around 2 months before I install it in my car? Or should I do something else to prep it up ahead of time? I'm planning on swapping it in in January along with... a better transmission and Ohh an LSD!

went up to Fort Mountain State Park today. off of Georgia Route 52, which is a really fun twisty road by the way. VERY nice park. AWESOME outlooks.

http://www.gastateparks.org/FortMountain/

Here is one of the road (rt.52) that the park is off of. ( I didnt take this photo)

and here is some of the lookouts. I should of taken some of the large parking lot near the lake area. Looked big enough to hold more than showed at the first Ft Yargo meet. Maybe an idea to have a meet a little further to the west and north in the mountains. Since its going to start getting very nice with the leaves changing.

Brett, we ARE having the OGTA meeting on the 4th. I see no reason not to. If only 2 people show up, that is fine. When we have weekend meets, it is just a bonus, no need to skip the 1st Tuesday of the month meetings.

Zach... What big pictures you have.

We meet down 85, near the merge with 985. The gas station pic you saw was several out-of-staters stopping for gas while leaving Lake Hartwell, on the GA/SC border. We'll have another meet up there in June or July, but it's not a common thing.

The regular meeting is all explained in the first page of this very long thread.

Oh, and I'll be at Jeffrey's on the 4th. Besides, it's not like Georgia is gonna turn to a red state in our lifetime.

Crit? No praise on the transmission business on my brother's Escort? I'm saddened slightly..

I'm waiting on Brett for the pedal box. I've got everything..including gear oil...and the piece of steel for the crossmember...just need the pedal box and I need the steel drilled.

Who's got something to drill through 5/16ths of steel channel?

By the way, I bought cheapo Coastal gear oil...going to do the swap, drive it for a bit and then drain out the cheap stuff and replace it with something much better.

Any regular drill bit will cut HR mild steel. Just use some WD-40 and cut slowly (much faster to go slow). Don't you also have bolts and washers to locate? Once it's all bolted together, do I recall correctly that you're also supposed to pull it back out and weld it up?

Nah, it doesn't have to come out to be welded...it's only suggested that you tack a few welds on here and there to stiffen it all up...nothing major.

Bolts and washers are a hardware store drive away...but I believe all I need are the washers since I have the mounting hardware already...

Damien's back, just in time for Halloween. Now he's got the cat off and gutting it:

Here's the link to Jeffery's Sports Bar on Horizon Dr. in Suwanee, for the Newbies:

Michael's right about the right tool for the right job, a 1/2" drill or better a drill press. Or go visit Crit with a case of brewskies.

Crit what's this thing about Georgia turning into a red state? I thought it already was a red state that's turning blue? (CNN has Georgia marked in as pink, which means it's Communist, I think).

LOL I think if I ask Crit for one more favor he'll shoot me (And trust me, he's got guns...)!

Pedal box is here. Damn it's a whole lot more annoying looking than I thought originally...problem is, Brett forgot the mounting hardware... oopsies.

I have the specs for the crossmember...but it's for an 8" piece...mine is 9". Not sure if that makes a difference or not with the measurements or not? I'm not great with math or geometry. heh

Once I've got that drilled and ready, I can tear into Sabine and make a date for the actual install. Not sure how many people are actually gonna show up now that it's cooling down...bleh. Damn.

The assembly uses like 6 or 7 nuts that screw onto studs already mounted to the car. And Sabine has those bolts already on her,
so I didn't see a need to get them. (And I dropped a few into the pile of random bolts/nuts/washers/pennies in my parts car). But
you said you were just swaping the brake and clutch pedals, correct? If that's the case, everything you'll need is on the complete
assembly already and you've just got to switch it over...? So I think you might've been on the 'crack' when you wrote that reply

AND Collin and I seafoamed my car this evening at his house. We only used half of a can since the other half went to his brothers
Escort. Maybe he'll feel chipper and decide to make them all 'pro' and post them on photobucket or something.

Zach- I'm completely interested- as long as it's not a big fart can and some tubes The header is what I'm really in it for. If I were
to buy that one off of you or one from whoever else, I'll swap it out when I do the motor/tranny/LSD swap and that'll make my car
even more enjoyable. No rush or anything- the swap is planned for January at the earliest.

And I got my motor today! It's sitting in the floor board of my car as I type. I'm hauling it to my uncles garage tomorrow after school
to let it sit with the transmission.

I'm still clueless as to these previous posts:

That does look a lot like Brett's rear end. Obviously he didn't follow the instructions on the bottle.

Haha, I was making fun of how Brett's hood was polished in a way that made it look like a shimmering pool.

Hey everyone, I was reading thru and seeing that the next meet is on the 4th yes? Also saw someone mention it should be moved? I would like to throw out a mini meet at the RROC event that weekend at RA. ..or the that Saturday night at Jeffry's? Just a thought. I would like to see the whole OGTA crew while we are down that way.
It will be a fun couple weekends.. PDX at RA the 9th, and then Holiday laps at VIR the 14th. 25 dollar donation for a 20 minute session As many as you can fit in/afford.

See everyone later.

Oh you bastard- That does look pretty cool though I totally blow at photoshop... I re-polished the hood though! It still has the lines in it, just different ones now that are spaced smaller apart. What am I doing wrong?!

slower speeds, less pressure, and circular patterns in a random orbit around the hood. like

Then buff it out by hand with firm pressure to even it out.
