yeah that turbo is way to small. the engine alone would make more power than with that turbo. I Have a custom gt35r on its way. about twice the size of that crappy 14g. its a t04 flange anyways, wont even bolt up. the manifold is a t3 flange. I mapped out a gt35r to the specs of that engine and at 13 lbs of boost it will give me the power that I want. i'll be happy with 350- 375 hp.

I love the 22R Is that going in the rolla/celica (can't remember which you have)

Also is that the 22r turbo engine out of the truck to start with?

As for porting. IMO Brap Brap is nice, but I like to actually have driveable power( some who have ridden in my car will argue that) But BP for a daily driven car is not going to be fun for long. Maybe I am just getting old. ( older and wiser)
Plus any porting you do I can overcome with a nice turbo and EFI anyday.......

Race pics to come later when /if the get loaded up

yeah it is a truck block with a 20r head. the 20r heads flow so much better than the 22r heads. its going in a second gen celica. she will be at the meets sooner or later. still alot of parts to come before I can even take that engine to the machine shop. the 75-77 20r heads flow an additional 45 cfms and have a smother flow ramp than the late 20's or eairlier 22's. these engines are all i used to even mess with, but i guess its time to get back to it. dave you wanna paint her?

You can do a blow-thru on anything. It requires getting a Racing Beat intake manifold ( or custom making one;() and then the appropriate carb(s) for your anticipated fuel needs. Sam is good with carbs. I am just busting *****.. A good carb set-up is something sweet. I would MUCH rather work with carbs on all the bikes I do. Unfortunate that all the manufactures are going with full EFI now as a standard on most models.

Yeah I had a blast at the race's. I lost 240 pics I took though when the camera thru a memory card error code at me...DAMNIT!!! Oh well

Mazda crashed the car on the last lap of race morning warm-ups Could NOT be repaired. DNS!

All you need is a Racing Beat upper manifold. A sidedraft Weber and a fuel regulator. A first gen dizzy. You can source the parts used or new. Then you can do the turbo. Alot simplier and cheaper than trying to make the stock fuel injection work. I hate to use this link http://www.rotaryshack.com/ but this will give you the idea.

Could you give a rough ball park figure, some used and new parts? And to go turbo would be easier with a carb?

You would be looking at maybe 1200-1500. You have the fuel pump, just get a reg for it, then source a TII turbo and manifold. Get a 13b manifold for a SE (I think that would work, they are 6 port as well, but may need to check up on that) and a 45 or 48 carb to throw on top. Get the intercooler set up done, oil lines, and BOV and your set. I have the book Maximum boost from Corky Bell if you want to borrow it. I believe I have the book in PDF format too, but I would have to search for it.

In all honesty, the carb has little to do with a boosted application. You can run a stock nikki on a bridge and turbo it. It will still run fine.

if you want that Maximum Boost book by Corky Bell in PDF let me know i've got a copy of it handy just pm me... i've only read the first 3 chapters its awesome, but i just had other things i need to finish reading before i can go on with my quest of finding out more about turbos, ..i've also got this older book Turbochargers by Hugh Maclnness it's pretty cool too but it's old and outdated quite a bit, i like the fact that i think it came out when turbo's where starting to get big and it explains how every single little detail works, it was printed in the late 70's oh well can't complain its worth the whole 100 pennies i paid for it lol
