Cool.. I most likely will not make the road event but just the drag day... Dont think my new set up will like the road track.. LOL

I'm going... hopefully with all my replacement parts installed and intercooler duct made. I plan to at least checkout the road course on Friday (hopefully get in a lap or two at the end of the event).

yeah some time this week if you have time I would like to check those underhood temps. My buddy just picked up a powder coat setup and we want to see what we can coat temp wise. I am trying to get Gregs motor fired up in that second gen and I would love to take it to the speed for sale also. I might try thetrack day too. I wish I had the time to fire up my REW with the t66 and power fc. Hopefully soon.

Dustin

best bet is to have Dustin or someone who knows what they are doing look at it for you. If it is water (coolant) = new motor time. If it is blueish then oil, oil could be turbo's or oil control ring failure.

Check coolant level to see if its low? Can you smell coolant in the exhaust when running? IS it smoking just at start up or all the time?

Or you could have mazda do a compression test and a leak down test and that would anwser any questions you have.

Takes less than a tablespoon of coolant to cause a cloud of smoke at startup.

- Check for cloudy coolant that smells of fuel. It won't be see-thru like the normal, translucent green coolant look
- Check for overflow over-filling and spilling out at some points
- Check for water (odorless wet) on leading plugs
- Is it difficult to start and run for about the first 10-30sec or so after the car has sat for awhile after having run prior?

All of those symptoms are essentially required to show a problem with chamber to water jacket sealing.

Got the car finished up. Headed to vacuum and clean it up a bit. I might roll out to O'Riley's first (about 9) to see if any of those peeps are going.

HAAAAAYYYY YOU GUYYYSSSSS.

I'm thinking about jumping in on the speed for sale thing. I'll probably bring just the new ITA miata unless I can find some sucker to trailer the RX-3 over there. The price seems pretty steep though... 175 for less than a day of track time. Crow Mountain Hill Climb is only 200 for both days!

Yeah, everything ran pretty well. I managed to run a best of 8.7 @ 82 mph at just over 8 psi. I tinkered with the boost controller this week and managed to dial in 10 psi on the low setting and 14 psi on the high. I raced my co-worker Wednesday after work and running on the high setting of 14 psi he only got me by a fender. I think I need to get another map sensor so I will be able to run more boost. BTW, my co-worker has a '03 Cobra with a Kenne Bell supercharger although he says it hasn't been tuned since he installed it.

sounds baller hdp. I've been away for a while, what's the cliff notes on what you've done to it? I still remember riding behind you coming back from TGPR and seeing your foot long yellow fireballs every time you let off the gas

Don, the stock map is supposed to be good to 17psi. Only reason to go gm 3 bar is if you are exceding that or getting close to it.

Well mine fired right up on the first turn over! Have a few issues to work out and also had a scare! Seems when I put on the 2 oil lines going to the oil coolers the passenger side one was not on all the way and it poped off draining all my oil! luckly I didnt run the car to full warm up but close. I also have a nasty vac leak and gas leaking from the primary injectors. The vac leak is off my adapter for the RE mani. Even with the issues I was very happy it fired on the first click!

Well, I plan to run a minimum of 17psi on the high setting, more if my setup will allow.
