I have always wanted to learn how to work on the car, but I have seen skilled mechanics struggle with it. its not the kind of car you start your first adventures in auto repair with. I like working on my motorcycle, but this car it worth about 20x what my bike is worth. Its not my daily driver, but I still would perfer to keep it running. When things go wrong, I usually try to figure it out first, but the engine compartment is packed so tight you can't see much, and you can't even get your head under the car without some kind of lift. Shop manuals are good and all, but I don't think I would start taking things apart without help from someone with experience.

Thanks for the info on the shops.

I had the 81 and 86 in high school and college. I didn't work on them, didn't need to, they were maintenance free cars. The 94 is a totally different story.

I don't have the 81 or 86 any more.

OK guys I am now totally done with the body work on my 86 GXL. WooHoo!!!!! it's about time. Paint will have to wait till spring as well as the rebuild. But it will love one day. Good thing this car isn't my daily driver or I would be taking a cab everywhere.

Damn, this thread has a lot of posts. Anyone know what the record is for posts? I would bet the record belongs to a lounge discussion... But, hey, we have the longest one in the SE region, probably ever!

there's nothing wrong with a little whoring everynow and then. The only thread that I know of thats longer is the Thong Thursday one. We'll never catch up to it. It's easier just keeping all of our stuff in this one thread though.

I cant wait til the next meet, my car will be running so sweet by that time. She might be painted, might not, I dont care As long as she runs good.

well sam i would still say you try and learn as much as you can. if nothing else find one of the FD guys int his thread to help you out. they should have enough info to cover you. or if not you can ask all of us specific questiongs if need be.

this thread is puny compared to the TT thread.

and Ren, "{Bring it Focker!" o wai, your car praooly runs better than a 11.7.....so don;t lol

Nothing quite that bulky... No, I am one of 3000 (2000 in 91, 1000 in 92) lucky owners of a US-spec Galant VR-4. It's got the DSM AWD drivetrain, plus AWS. Pretty decent sleeper.

George, nah, 13's at best, I think. For now, anyway...

We changed the business name from "Turbo & Rotary Performance" to "Rotorsports Racing" when we relocated from Jacksonville to Kannapolis circa 1995. Same owners and over 22 years of experience with rotary engines. We felt the move closer to the racing capital of the U.S was necessary for our business. Race city USA (Mooresville, NC) is only minutes away and offers us access to tremendous resources and talent.

Hey Brian,

Been a long time since i've talked to you or Tiffany. Although thats probably a good thing, since I haven't done any engine damage......unlike Todd who likes to break things continually, hehe. He claims he's going single after the first of the year, so maybe I'll catch up with you guys then. Maybe another dyno run is in order.

Dan,
Good to hear your RX is runing well. Maybe you and Todd will meet up with us at some of our races next season- We've got a full schedule planned for the roadrace car and plans to introduce a new car for "ahem" drag racing- with Scott Helton as our driver.
(that is if he turns out to be as quick as me). Plans are for a 3-rotor tube chassis with bridgeported twin T series turbos- body configuration to be determined.
Despite my prejudices- dragracing seems to be the best direction for our efforts. Hopefully this will open other avenues for a professional roadracing effort. BTW I have rentals available for SCCA driving school and regional races in our 2nd gen ITS car. Let me know if you're interested. Sorry i haven't been on this forum for awhile-but business has been extremely busy. We have finally finished the Sports Racer project- give me a call for more information, but I'll tell you this its an amazing racecar @ 1300lbs. with 250 NA rotary hp!

Brian,

Yeah we kinda felt bad we never made it to any of your races this past season. We really wanted to go, but it never worked out with our schedules.
HOLY CRAP!! You drag racing....... have you lost your mind!! "road racing involves making turns at the end of the straights" Well thats cool though, damn if you need someone to test/drive the 3 rotor drag car, let me know. I am highly interested in the SCCA driving school and regional races, its funny you say that cause I have had that on my mind lately. I'll probably give you a call tomorrow if I get a chance.
