Yeah I like the gold too. GXL wheels look great in black as well.
Check the Parts For Sale section, Cryo. I don't know of anyone who has one for sale.
Anyone know of a good GSL-SE shell or roller? Someone I know needs one after his met with a semi.

In other news, some NC/SC rotorheads are wanting a rematch against the Dragon this summer. Anyone interested in a meet on the border?

I have a 1988 rx7 se with miles. I just bought it, I'm planing to rebuild but I want to figure out why it won't rev over 3500 rpm first.
Anyone have this problem, possibly a fix?
help I'm a first timer at rx7's

Well, first thing first, warm the car up, then perform a compression test. Get a regular piston tester, pull a lower spark plug and hold the relief valve in on the gauge, have someone crank the car over with the egi fuses pulled. If you have equal compression numbers on all faces of the rotor then your motor is ok for now, 80psi is low and is close to rebuild time. But if your comp test shows good then you can proceed to check your grounds and possible vac leaks.

That's usually a symptom of bad secondary injectors. Does the car rev up beyond that in neutral? You should at least be able to slowly rev it to 5k or so.

I wouldn't rule bad grounds out either as Derrick mentioned, although you should still see the entire powerband without the 5th and 6th ports opening.
Another thing that can cause that is blockage in the exhaust system.
I should be there at the meet, I'll try to spread the word.
If you're sitting in neutral and rev it up the secondaries won't matter much. They only come on around 3800 rpm when you're under heavy load.
Also, if you have low compression (bad rotor) then your engine won't just suddenly hit a wall. Basically you'll be trying to move an engine with 1/2 the horsepower it normallly has. So if you actually drive it then you'll feel like you're driving a 3 piston Geo.
If you give it gas slowly, can you go over 3500 rpm?
It could also be a TPS problem. Test the TPS (the continuity test is in the FSM) and see if it tests good. It could have a dead spot that's screwing things up.
Another thing it could be is a clogged exhaust. Do the TPS test first, then (if that doesn't work) try taking off the exhaust (yes it will be SUPER loud) and see if that helps.

I haven't had time to go down to the shop and check out anything yet, but thanks for the tip's. I think it is probably bad injectors and wiring. I just want it running right before we start taking it all apart to rebuild.
If you think of anything else post a message.
Thanks

I would think that if it were a bad TPS, simply unplugging it and seeing if the engine revs would eliminate that possibility.
I'm still thinking this is going to turn out to be an ECU issue.
So who's gonna make it Saturday?
