You could do it this way:

interesting jimi, that setup is perect for if you're using the fb rear diff and driveshaft. but i'm not sure if thats the route i'm going yet, it might be simpler to just go w/ an fc subframe like derrick was telling me, perfect for the 5 lug conversion. idk if the fb i'm buying is a gs or gsl yet. if its a gsl i may go this route, but if not i'll go w/ derricks idea.

Does the guy not know what he has? For the love of Satan, please find out about this car before you drive all the way down there to buy it.

That SA I told you about in East Ridge is sitting at a car rental place! Not sure if it was for sale or rent or what. Looked okay though. "Cheeto White" LS model with gold waffles. Interior looked pretty good, paint was a bit rough. I tried to send you pics with my phone but the phone wouldn't have it.

I only suggested using the FC subframe because you are hung up about using the fc rear diff, and then using the axles, which in turn means you need the rear hubs, which means you need the trailing arms... But mounting the fc subframe in the back of a fb is going to take some doing, as the fuel tank is likely right in the way, not to mention the rear suspension (strut/spring combo) will have to be sourced from something to bolt somewhere in the back of the fb.

Easiest/cheapest solution is to just have the stock fb rear end fixed up with moser axles with the 5x114.3 bolt pattern. Then you retain the stock driveshaft, retain all the stock suspension pickup points, and will only need FC calipers/rotors/pads after the re-speed 5 lug conversion kit... Its the way I would do it. I mean if I wanted FC suspension/brakes...id get an FC. Oh wait..I did <.<

Haha, nail on the head, Derrick. You can spend 5 grand trying to turn an FB into an NA FC or you could spend 1 grand and just buy an NA FC. I think he just wants an easy bolt-together 5 lug FB with a drivetrain that'll withstand a bajillion horses and it just doesn't work that way. There's a lot of serious work and fabrication that's going to have to happen.

gotta start somewhere tho, and if the price is right, sometimes it is easier to build it up than to just buy something aready done (unless getting a killer deal on the built car >.>)

Kinda the theory behind my current madness...which has so far cost me almost 4200, and ive yet to actually turn a wrench outside of fitting the wheels on and busting the radiator lol

You're already at the price of a nice TII and you don't have a motor in that thing yet!

Pfft...I may be in the range of a nice TII. BUT, since im building this from the ground up (more or less) it will be much better than buying someone elses project, especially since i'm replacing everything anyway (which Id want to do to a 'nice' TII) so this works out more in my favor.

This one would save you some trouble: https://www.rx7club.com/se-sale-wanted-classifieds-180/83-rx7-950435/

13B and GSL rear already installed. All your money would obviously go into paint, body, and interior. And a trip to FL. It's your favorite year, too.

I heard you guys had a good time driving back. You learned as I did Derrick... never go pick up a car with this guy. It always ends with something on a tow truck.

heh yeah, at least it wasnt mine on the rig though...I dont think I can handle having the 'quest go down for another engine related problem...if it did I would have probably destroyed a fender or two...

but yeah, the trip out was cake, the trip back (after the truck was called in) was cake. Just got my engine oil changed this morning, still lack the dif and trans...that whine is annoying me now that i notice it.

Yeah man, that was fun times. Your car made me want an S5 vert. Speaking of verts, there was an Arctic Silver '88 vert that followed me most of the way home on Middlebrook yesterday. Looked really clean!

Count me out on DGRR... if I wanted to spend the afternoon in a parking lot I'd drive to the mall Anyone going to the Mitty?

Guinness, if all you lost was your phone then you're in better shape than most. Those storms were nuts! The only thing that saved my 7 from hail damage was the thickness of the new paint. My Subaru was parked next to it and it took a beating

Yeah, im not going to DGRR either... I dont mind driving the dragon, I dont mind social interactions, but I DO mind having to PAY for 'cabin rental' schtick when I'm a ******* local. Sure you can sit on the dragon and watch the car's then, but they wont let you up near nantahala unless youve paid :/

I'm also not going due to my 7 being out of comission due to a complete overhaul its undergoing, that and the SQ is way too 'twitchy' and 'nervous' up on the dragon despite its better powerband for exiting corners.

Derrick I both agree and disagree with the having to pay to go ordeal.

Jimi, what is Mitty?

Also I'm looking for a way to remove chrome for powder coating or repair it so it does not look as bad as it may.

way to remove chrome? when'd you get chrome anything? Usually the only way to repair chrome is to have it removed and rechromed (if its REAL chrome) if its just highly polished aluminum with clearcoat over it, just remove clear and repolish often.

Ive got an eastwood fender roller and heat gun otw, so fitting my wheels proper is just another step closer.

Its real chrome. The electrolysis didn't remove it, which I knew it would not. But that was one of the tests to discover if it was or not. I have read Hydrochloric acid would but may also pit it I'm not too concerned with pitting but I'd like to not damage it or make it look worse. I guess I'll leave it be.

again, what do you have that's chromed?

So...im faced with a minor dilemma atm. Currently unemployed for the summer, and will be attempting to get onto unemployment for the summer only. My problem likes in that im still short a handful of mounts/bushings to warrant rear/front subframe removal, namely diff mounts, and still waiting on the coilovers (which is why ive not tried to roll my rear fenders 'yet'). So the issue boils down to I have an entire summer to work on the beasty, but no parts...though if I can get onto unemployment and draw benefits of at least 130ish a week, I can go ahead and order the last batch of undercarriage parts (short of new lateral links, rear camber bar, and balljoints/tie rods for the front) and maybe get this thing ready for the next phase of project car doom.
