I'm guessing a stripped FB with a half cage, ford 9' rear end, 13b half street half bridge nice sized turbo and decent engine managment.
I'm sure someone is willing to donate a decent fb if not one can be found anywhere for cheap, a half cage can easily be fabricated by member of the forum as well as the rearend swap. The engine can be ported by a voted upon builder as well as the internals. I'm sure companies like atkins rotary would be willing to sponsor us if we go with a well laid out plan ect ect. Engine managment can also be handled here that and a turbo would probably have to be bought with donation money.
We basically have everything we need, we just need the people to do it, and to convice other people to donate. Not only money, but (something which is far more valuable in my opinion) parts usable towards the car.

i feel that this is turning into a joke
, lets do this ,lets do that o no this is what we r gonna do
the toyota guys are serious about this and a have allready figured out a plan ,
in this rotary world of ours there is a lot of stuff thats gives us the edge , thats why some of the guys that you have stated before are noyt voicing there opinion , i like the idea of a 13b nos datsun 1200 like doc said , but it would be great to keep it all mazda so does anyone have or know where we can find a glc
its about the same weight as the corolla but still mazda. now as i look at the situation most people dont want the next guy to know whats done to the carb , what are the secrets to the distributor what gears are in the tranny and specially what gears are in the diff,
if we can separate all of this after the car is won then some one might jump on board , but the worst part in this is getting all these great people and our egos out of the way so we can work toghether and that in it self is our first mayor problem

I'm all for doc's offer personally.
It doesn't matter what the shell is, so long as its rotary powered. And not a toyota for obvious reasons
Building a nitrous car will be quick, dirty, and get us to a 10 sec goal *easily*.
The biggest thing I need to know is when this car can be ready for the race. Doc, any insight? Because as far as this goes I think its on, its just a matter of getting the cars together - the Yota boys are doing their part - once we get on track this race WILL happen.
Any idea's on when we can feasbily be ready? Mid summer? september?
edit: Whether paint happens or not I can arrange for it to happen down south. I'm also a Fix Auto up here and I'm sure I can pull some strings with my region rep and have the car taken care of at a Fix Auto in wherever the car is being built.
Who's going to step up to the wrenching plate?
I'll also try to contact some engine vendors over the weekend and see if anyone wants to donate....

We want to make sure we represent ourselves accordingly.

Crap, thats a good point, and quite a roadblock.
damn, this thing GREW!! ok, so did anyone agree on what platform to use?? I personally think it should be an 13B-T SA. It has to be an RX7 because we ARE the RX7CLUB and anything else would be just dumb.

Would you show up to a Ferrari vs. Lamborghini race with a Porsche? Would you expect the guys from Supraforums to show up with a 300ZX? Would it make sense for the Mustang forum to show up with a Camaro?
The best I can offer is an S4 motor with S5 housings. My friend has it for sale for a couple hundred bux. I know it's kinda weak but I'm willing to buy it from him and donate it if no turbo motor is available. Has anyone contacted any of the rotary builders to see if they're willing to help us out in exchange for publicity ( i know some builders have a hard time with the large amounts of orders they already get [like rotaryressurection]). Where is the race taking place again? If it's anywhere within 70 miles of me I'll make the trip and offer a helping hand ( i know how to remove screws; lefty loosey, righty tighty.)

I would like to see if Rene Franco is down for this. He's a great fabricator and Driver.

I'm willing to donate some cash and any parts I have laying around.
All donations should pay for parts and labor for this project.

i have an s5 motor but is N/A and the coolant seal is gone... how about we set up an account and start collecting money. Once we have a budget we can start talking about what we are going to do... Is just an idea...
I'll donate money as well. Possibly $100-200. Has anyone heard from the owners of the forum? If they're not interested, I'm willing to setup a forum on my web server and use that for the challenge. All I need is a domain name to represent us.
I wish Dave (guitarjunkie) were still with us. I'm sure we would have had an engine for the car in the works already! I cant believe people are expecting to get money back on this. The Toyota guys are already kicking our *** in the organization and attitude department. I read all 11 pages of this and it seems like 90% of those pages were senseless bickering. We seriously need to get our act together in order to be taken seriously. I want to thank $100T2 for his generous offer. We already have a shell to use and some major engine components if Doc is still willing to donate.
