done on a craftsmen drill press
After some trial and error the weak part of the plate is not the S6 stock dowel pin area. Every cracked plate has been at the tension bolt area next to the stock dowel pin. Found the best place to pin is the two outer ones in the pic above. The middle one is where the cracks have occurred. IMHO. So now I only pin in two places. But it can be done on a drill press.
The longer tension bolts are used. Drill and tap the front plate so the tension bolt does not need to be shortened.
My objective is if I can not do it, I do not need it done.

video
SAIN 16 - YouTube
at the 8 minute mark shows the car launching. Top of 1st gear it hit the rev limiter and upset the car and missed second gear. Tried to chase him down but let off at the 1000 ft mark, could not catch him.
Took the car to Houston IFO yesterday to find out I hurt the motor. (rev limiter) Water leak. SO we removed 1.5 gallons of water and tried to run the car down the track. Did manage a 11.7 at 134 with a really bad launch. Tried a new two step setting that was suggested on another forum, did not work at all. But gota try different things.
Track conditions and 28s (tire) need more then 26s.

Few guys wanted me to post videos of last night event. Nothing special but one was of a crazy launch that got out of control. Once the car gets all crazy it really is hard to shift.
First video is easy launch at 4psi. Ran 10.6 1/4 and 7.0 1/8
Second video is a harder launch at 15psi. ran 10.5 1/4 and 6.4 1/8 and missed 3rd gear
Last video tried to leave hard and things get out of hand and tried to stay in it. You figure after 35+ years of shifting a trans I could do better then this.
The harder it tried to leave the worse the launch is. The stock 8.8 LSD clutches are getting worse and only one wheel is taking all the power and pushing me to the left.

Hopefully will update this after tonights T n T.
Just a few other backwards things done to the car.
Two step switch is triggered with a brake switch that is attached at the top of the clutch peddle, not at the bottom.
Burn out line lock is on the rear brakes, not the front.

Ended up going with a Doug Nash 4+1 crash box, pro shifted. V-gate shifter. 5th gear is one to one. First is 3.2#. Clutch assisted. Reason for going with this trans was basically cost. And my goal was 9.7 consistently with out braking trans or missing shifts, just wanted to have fun. Hope this trans hold up for at least a year of fun. 120 passes.
Here's a time slip of my first pass at full throttle but let off at the 1000ft mark. Think it has a 120mph in the 1/8 in it.
Here's the video. Spun the tires on the launch so let off the throttle in first. You can see how far I let off before the end. Usually do 30/34 mph from the 1/8 to the 1/4.
