one of the things leaning me toward the boost a spark is charge times. Currently charging the coils at 13.6 for 3ms at full power. Is this enough power and time to fully charge the coil for best spark. Will charging the coil at 17v for 3ms increase the voltage out. I think so. At 9000 rpms we have 6ms of time to **** and get. Or should be get then ****. Leaves little time to charge the coils and fire them at optimal power, Hoping the 17v charge voltage will help.

IMO anyways.

But the 16v battery is a thought. Big benefits.. Starting, fuel pumps, ignition and injectors.

You guys have any suggestions? for a ignition upgrade. M$W is money! MSD plus high output looks interesting also the AEM twin power look cool.

thx
I went with an adaptronic 500r CDI, mostly because of space and because I found a used one at a good price. What I really wanted was 2 MSD DIS, or 2 M&W!

Guess what I just literally saw for sale?

Good News re the Boost A Spark

if you visit KB's site and do some digging you will find they are now only offered w an output of 17.5 volts.

this is a problem as the IGN1A/Mercury Marine/AEM Smartcoils (all the same except for the badging) have an internal V clamp at 17.

prior Boost A Sparks (BAS) had an adj dial zero to 50% V increase.

apparently all the "modern" coils work great at 17.5 so KB is phasing the adj out... also they said people were bypassing the dial to get more V.

however, the CTS-V can't handle 17.5 volts and is a big seller so they do have the dial/adj item.

KB does not have dealers so you have to call them.

the sales line is 909-941-6646 and the tech line is 909-941-0985 closed at noon for an hour Ca time.

ask for Mike who can be reached on either line and order the BAS for the CTS-V.

here's a link to the BAS page

Boost-A-Spark

i run my IGN 1A coils at 16 V and around 4 mS dwell.

I run the tried and true MSDDIS4HO's guys drag racing on the east coast and Puerto Rico have been running this setup forever. http://paradiseracing.com/shop/13b20...-race-engines/ Buy once cry once LoL the link is to the DIS2HO's I prefer the DIS4's most guys wire one box for leading and one for trailing. I've wired mine with one box for the front rotor and one for the rear rotor. You can only do it the way I wired with the DIS4's, plus I like the 2step feature on the MSD's. My buddy runs the M&W making in excess of 1100rwhp on methanol and 10 220lb injectors. They both work great take your pick they will light up anything you throw at them.
