Nitromethane
Has anyone ever tried Nitromethane on a rotary?
Or a diluted mix. I know you can buy products that are used for octane boosting that are up to about 30% nitro. But in a tank that would be about 1%.
How well would about 20-50% Nitro - mixed with pump gas work?
Piston dragsters use it on 2-3000hp V8s I believe?

Nitro wont mix with petrol, it has to be added with something like methenol before it will mix,
im sure it will work fine, but you would be better off going straight methenol and adding nitro to it.

I think Nirto is to much for a rotary..
Have you seen a TF dragster motor after one run?
I have done a lot of 2 stroke Rc dragracing and have played with nitor alot..
If you get it to fire (with metanol as nitro will not burn alone) I think that yo'll pop it quite soon.....
But hey, if you got a running motor that you don't need or to much money.. DO it!
I'm pretty sure it will sound lovley!

Interesting, thanks guys.
Just out of interests sake, what would it take to set up a methanol fuel system?
Would it be worth it? (Hypothetically)

"Nitro will double your horsepower."
"How do you think top fuel dragsters make so much power?"
Quite possible 2 of the most ignorant uninformed statements every made. Yep just add some nitro and you will double your horsepower.....add a couple stickers and triple it. Take a look at some science books and then come back with the right anwser.

I agree with the previous..
A TF dragster makes 5-6000 bhp..
They have ignitionsystems that will make any plug melt in 5 seconds...
Only 20-30% (i think is is)of the fule is burnt inside the engine.. the rest burns outside the headers...
Try that on a rotary..

I think what resource meant was nitro ALLOWS you to double your horsepower. You can run twice the boost, twice the nitrous, probably 1.5 times the compression, etc. etc.

If that is what he meant cool but all we need is so me kid added nitromethane to his car because he wants to double his horsepower.
"I'm pretty sure nitromethane follows the same rules of physics the rest of the world does..." and your point is? the different temperature and energy released when burned is what I was referring to. If you dont understand I can spell it out for you.

More nitromethane makes more horsepower with 49.5 per cent by weight pure oxygen, which liberates during combustion. It is also compatible with nitrous oxide. Adjustment to air/fuel ratio is most important. More that 1% nitromethane by volume will require increased fuel delivery, when used in gasoline.
Specific Gravity 1.13
Weight per Gallon 9.43 lbs.
Oxygen content 49.5%

with what was said before about going straight methanol, the thing with methanol is you have to use 3 times more than with pump fuel. so you are beter off using something like aviation fuel or c16 race fuel. but here in australia you need a C.A.M.S. liscence to by c16. i had a 75% methanol mix in my series 2 on the weekend and it made only a slight difference and was only noticeable high in the revs like up around 6000-7800 rpm.

a 75% methenol mix with petrol would be pointless unless you retune for it and wind the boost up,
also you can buy c16 with a $40 andra fuel passport,
