Jay-Tech Manifolds

All, does anyone know if Jay-Tech is still in business or not? Several years ago they sold several interesting intake manifold designs for the 2nd and 3rd Gen RX-7's. If anyone has any info on them like phone#, URL, or etc please forward that to me. Thanks everyone.

The only thing I did'nt like about my 13B peripheral port intake manifold was that due to the material they used when casting it. When we tried to have it polished....it turned out realy crappy looking. Almost like there was peices of sand inbeded in the manifold. O-well....lots cheaper than a factory peripheral port manifold. Who gives a damn about the "bling" factor. All I know is Demetrios made 770rwhp with it. Nobody, including Abel or Pepe Loco has made that much power on C16.

I have seen pics of Jay's stuff and it looks pretty good. I really like the prices. I was wondering what happened to the web site?

I called Jay last week. He said that J-Tech is out of business. It was a company that was co-owned by he and his brother and that they decided to close it down. He said they still have some pieces lying around though. You can call him and he'll tell you what is left. He can still do almost anything. He said he plans to start a new company sometime next year but for now everything is either done straight through him personally or through eBay depending on what it is.

Doing castings doesn't look too diffcult. The hard part would be machining them IMO.

Setting up a foundry would be a bitch. Then learning the in's and out's of a new trade is usually not a breeze either. Like any trade it there is more to it than it appears.
Watch a really good welder TIG weld some thin aluminum sometime. That **** is really easy looking until you blow a hole the size of a quarter the first time you try, the second time you try, the twentieth time.....

Here is some good reading http://www.frugalmachinist.com/rhfl.html hobbyist pages for backyard foundries. I confess to being tempted to mess with it but too many projects going already. If I had a local friend with first hand knowledge that I could get help with I would have probably already attempted it.
Ms. Scalli is not very impressed with my mini machine shop in the garage and I have serious doubts that a foundry in the backyard would put a smile on her face either

Talk about envy.... http://frugalmachinist.com/tour.html
The only things I have that I can't see from these pics are a MIG welder, parts vat, bead blast cabinet, radial drill press, and vertical mill.

A few months back I found a link on how to melt down aluminum using a charcoal fired setup made out of old coffee cans and half of an oil filter.

Neat stuff. I'd actually like to try it, the only problem is I feel kinda queasy about casting things in sand, and I have heard many differing stories on casting aluminum in plaster.
