You forgot the 220 dyno runs from 1st through 5th gear. The drive from the trailer to the dyno, back to the trailer, tralier to tech, tech back to trailer, trailer to burnout box, burnout box to the 330ft mark, 330ft mark back to staging, staging to the 1/4 mile mark, 1/4 mile to the turnoff which is another 1/2mile, form there back to the pits/trailer and then wait to do it at least three to four times on a test-n-tune night. If that was an event then you can add three qualifying runs and then depending on how far you make in during competition and the amount of cars in the class then I would say add another three to four runs. After the event you have to drian the methanol and run some pump through so to do that you have to take it off the trialer agagin and then back inot the trailer where it will sleep for the most one month before the entire process starts over again.
So with all this what's the new equation add up too?

or you can just do the really simple equation of 100 runs X .25 mile = 25 miles! (plus testing, staging, etc.)

If u think your ported motor is doggy down low , then just down shift and be done with it ! I am sure a sp wouldn't be able to run with you then with ALL their low end power !
You can't downshift from 1st gear. Even with 4.78's, those huge 16cmx65cm tires have a ton of bite coming out of the low speed corners and they will not spin, so the engine lugs down, so having a broad powerband is essential, since there is never enough time to shift so sometimes you have to run past sane RPM levels for a moment or two

Ideally yeah there'd be an awesome gearbox in there with some nice close ratios so it's less of a problem... but close ratio boxes don't have overdrives and first gear starts out like where 2nd is now, so those 4.78s are even more way too tall... have you ever tried driving a car on the street with no overdrive and 6.50 gears on tires that fit in the wheelwells?

No money for tow vehicle/trailer = gotta have somewhat sane gearing
No money for awesome transmission = gotta keep churning through $50 stock boxes and their crappy ratios
This means... need to have a decently wide powerband!

That's why I built the P-port in the first place... it makes power freakin' *everywhere*.

Wow, I have been away for a while, but I am glad this is still going.

Bourbon and Scotch man here, but I am from Kentucky so that is a given.

Brian, I might be running around in Dallas in a few weeks, if your shop is open, I'll drop in and say hi.

Nope, you're not an idiot. I'm just irresponsible; I haven't updated my site in awhile even though several have suggested it with the express purpose of listing pricing.

Ahh, then add me to the list of people that have demanded a website update for the good of all bridgeportkind.

The gallery rocks, but prices and services would be even more awesome.

oh what the **** ... i'm sorry i referred that guy here, now this thing won't die all over again (especially with me bringing it back to the top now, eh?)

so yeah, to date, i haven't consumed anything that holds a candle to Wray & Nephew Overproof or JB (John-crow Batty, as they call it on the island) rums in terms of potency or flammability. don't worry though, i don't discriminate. i gladly drink anything ... gin, scotch, whisky, rum, vodka ... you name it. i CANNOT drink Tequila (or anything corn-based, like moonshine) ... a condition born out of an unfortunate, pesonal incident that i won't speak of to strangers. these days, i've mellowed out and i pretty much stick to mixed drinks. i still like a stiff, straight one every so often - and no, not dick , no gutter minds, please - but i'm more Amaretto (Di Saronno only) sours and Cosmos now.

as far as the topic goes, am i the only that sees what Ted is saying? i don't know him and i sure don't have to speak for him - but PEOPLE, he's not bashing or disputing half- or full bridges, he's just saying that in the context of the street and DD use, they are overrated. it's his opinion. dyno plots be damned, i agree with him. the street use thing was a logical inference since the original post never specified. of course they are going to stomp all over a streetport when it comes to racing. arguing against that fact is pointless and plain old retarded!!! you don't have to be a respected engine builder to see that. can they be used on the street? sure, but it's not for everyone. period. and regardless of all that, it's the package (the orchestra of all the parts chosen), not just the engine that's going to make the car fast. he may be switching sides now, but ErnieT has provided all the proof that needs to be brought forth for streetport testimony.

okay ... it's off my chest. can we let this thing die or lock it or something?

you're absolutely right. a new one will materialize, it's inevitable. i guess it's just the deep-setaed hostility i'm feeling from some of these guys, i guess. why trouble myself with other people's business you ask? i come here to learn and also to find a semblance of peace - sort of an escape from my everyday realities, i guess. 20 years of rotaries, it's passion for me. so when the peace leaves, especially over something so pointless, i just want it to go away .... i've been in FL for 4 years now and i have no friends, life's been tough, and so even though i don't actually know you guys, i feel like you're my crew - so i want peace.

okay all this emotional **** has gots to go ... i digress. my point is that's why i want this thread to die. i don't like the hostility. i'm hostile to it ... circular rhetoric ... my point is pointless, in a sense.

as for me and the corn-thing ... if you and i ever meet and get to a point where we call each other friends, then maybe ... and by the way, i'd like to come down some time just to see you do what you do. actually, i may be moving to Lauderdale in August, so who knows ....

Don't worry about it...
I've learned a long time ago that you can argue till you're blue in the face and have all the facts backing you up, people will still not agree with you.
Fact of life.
The ones who try and keep a logical mind will see through all the bullshit.
What more can you do?

I find it funny that this so-called technical thread turned into something really stupid...almost Lounge material.
Go figure.

this has been a great topic. of both technical and entertaining value....so dont get soooo wound up TED....as for you guys in FL why cant you come see me in ohio too?......
I am doing a street port right now which was wicked fast.....but in my car I would much rather a Bridge....the street port I am doing is a rebuild from the white RX7 That was on PINKS and ran the CIVIC and won.....yea that one.....BOY DID THEY FRY THAT ENGINE!!!!!!!the stationary gear bearing was toasted, the front rotor bearing turned...2 apex selas were broke!!!!! talk about a mess........the ports where not soooo impressive, but i guess it worked..........

ON another note i made a slip while porting another street port and went over towards the water Oring side too much...i may not use this plate , I know the side will travell there ok, but i worry it will afffect performance.....i was trinig to make it a bit longer on the low side to open earlier, but i may have gottten over zealous......ohhh well such is the race.....

Yeah, all in all, I think this was a very informative and fun thread and some of the myths were dispelled.

And diabolical, are you allergic to glutin?

And Ted, for the love of god, where the hell do you get this endless supply of avatars?

your riight i dont have any pics here..but the intake ports were ok from the runner side, but the innner part by the rotor was very choppy and rough.....not ver neat at all ... i am not knocking the work they did, but i would have exoected a more consistant and clean job...........ohh and my biggest suprise was that the exhaust ports were untouched on one housing and slightly ported on the other......I just finnished one housing to a nice street port...but the other housing was damaged

Well since you asked. My 13B 4 port LARGE STREETPORT with a 48 ida, full exhaust, bla bla bla, has smoked Bridgeports!!! As a matter a fact many times with different Bridgeports. Go figure. Racing my friends 13B Bridgeport, which was a BIG topic of discusion. Well the 1st time it was a 3 car jump in 1st gear @ 45mph fukn lauching the car, I let off a 80, it wasn't even fair. ahaha. I think there is a lot of factors though. The internals, the port job, gearing, the driver, etc..... Make your own judgement. I love all ROTARY'S!!!!!!!

there are way to many differant variables in there to say the street port is better just because you beat a few bridgeports. I think a bridge has the capabilities to out perform a streetport but like anything else it needs to be setup correctly with the correct fuel, spark, turbo if your going forced induction etc...

I'll name one variable that could change the outcome in a big way. Put an uncollected exhaust system on a bridgeport and a perfectly setup collected one on a streetport. That'll kill the bridge engine on the top end. Too many people think those systems work well on all porting styles when they just don't.
