I agree, 90% of the general public know the RX-7 as "that car with the funny motor, that breaks".

But, it isn't true. It breaks when people don't maintain them..they are unreliable, if the OWNER is unreliable.

Maybe you didn't take note. The first half of the race, the RX7 was struggling..to get out of the pack. The VR4 and Supra had it up, they were on the outside/front from the beginning. The RX7 was stuck in the very back, behind all the slow cars.

And..the RX7 driver either SUCKED ***, or his car was screwed. He missed 3rd every single time he went for it. So yeah.

I agree with that. The 7 requires a different type of owner than your average joe, which is why it has a history of problems. If everyone that ever bought an RX7 was a mechanic that was well versed on rotaries and the systems that came on RX7's then it would have probably turned out to be the most reliable car ever, but the truth is that a lot of people probably didn't even realize that it burned oil when they first bought it.

Speaking of which, in my auto tech class today, I mentioned rotary or RX7 something, and a couple of kids across the room quickly interjected "Oh, those cars that blow up?"

:-O I just tend to ignore it now. All the talk from newbies about "weak seals" and "shitty engines" meh.
