Thumbs up Smoked an STI...

Anyways, it was my third run ever at the 1/4 mile track. I just destroyed him by like 5 car-lengths... I almost felt bad.

My mods are in my sig. BTW, I know, it was a great story. My best run was a 13.6 at 106mph.

I actually posted this to rub it in anyone's face who has an STI. Rx7 > your STI...

I was at the track with erik and it is truly sad to see these kids driving factory supposed to be race cars and get beat by fc's all day. I also go paired up against a srt4 with a huge t3/t4 turbo, cams and every bolt on you can think of and I beat him. I just look at these guys and think how much they paid for garbage cars and laugh to myself.

Congrats on the STi kill. I've heard those should run low 13s, way to n00b him.

How much wheel spin did you get? I expected lower times from your car. I don't mean that as an insult, you probably launch better than I do, but I bet you've got more potential there. Were you on street tires?

Silly kids with their wrong-wheel drive cars. What did the LT-7 run?

"I've heard those should run low 13s"

Incorrect, those are really not that fast of cars. Most people assume they are but by the time you factor in its relatively wide spacing between gears most people are at the other end of the track already.

Nice kill...way to noob a hippie!

From what I've seen, the vast majority of people in WRX/STis, have no clue as to how to launch properly. They will either spin or bog, and I can attest to getting it just right taking quite a bit of adjusting. Who would have thought slipping the clutch would be so difficult.

Nice kill on the nub. Don't think too much into, though.

BTW, Johnny, your handle is fitting to you. STis have been PROVEN to run low 13s in the quarter time and time again. Like I said, most people driving them just don't know how to drive an AWD car quickly.

exactly, that goes for any car really
If youve never witnessed 1st hand an awd launch, your REALLY missing out. Even my stock feels like your taking off in a jet.

a new sti runs mid high 12s actually, met a guy at a gas station 2-3 weeks ago with the numbers still on his windshield from the track. All he had was an ebc, intake, downpipe. Font know if it was 100+ octane or 93 but he ran 12.51 and 12.34.

good kill

well bro if you beat him with all those bolt-ons he has then you didn't beat the car you beat the driver cause it seems he was a bad one, because i raced a srt-4 that had a mopar stage 1, up the boost, exhaust and a external wastegate and he was damn fast, he did 13.3 so i assume that the guy that raced that srt-4 was a crappy driver because with those mods he should've smoke you. not a fan of the srt-4 but they are fast and everybody just thrash at them because it's a neon, but in my opinion this cars are damn great, and by the way these srt-4 weren't that expensive.

Yeah, I still haven't figured the launch out yet. I raced 5 times, and used a slightly different technique each time. My 13.6 run was with a 2.38 second 60' time--which isn't good at all. With a good 2.0 60' and some time to cool down my stock TMIC, I should be right around 13.0-13.2, which is the best I should expect for the stock turbo. 12's might be possible with a FMIC and some slicks, but that'll likely never happen, since a new turbo etc. will be going on here shortly.

BTW, the Turbo XS sounds pretty good--although I wouldn't recommend it unless you're on a budget (like I was). The quality is mediocre.

And yes, the STI bogged on the launch and I raped him. I still would've pulled on him though...

I got the chance to drive a STI an 06 model and I was dissapointed, I thought that they should be faster being AWD and all...Oh, even my girl who hates it when I drive fast said that it felt slow..lol...maybe because it weighs a ton...it was bone stock..

It weighs 3300 lbs and has 300hp/trq stock. 13.2 stock is faster than a stock FD; so, that must mean stock FDs are slow, right?

Imagine if you bought a nice fd for between 15000 and 20000 and dumped 10 or 15 grand into it. Or an fc for 5000 and put 25000 into it and there is the price of your sti. Your sti would stand still next to an rx7 at that piont and you would be 30 car lenghts behind in your slow 4 door that runs good times in road and track but not in real life.
