I'm not, but 99% of the people that see me driving think I am. Front Range Aggregates in Colorado Springs. I run a scale house and on occasion do office work. To be honest, I feel guilty for not having saved it all for a house, but you're only young once.

There's more to it, but I'm not about to post my life story. I've just been very fortunate recently.

Haha, reminds me of what happened to my and ecyrb | SLC...

We had noticed this really nice looking FD at a small, local car dealership, so we decided to go check it out (hoping for a test-drive). Anyways, we roll in there and a couple minutes later some fat, sloppy looking dude comes out and asks us what we're doing (yeah, really). So we say that we're interested in this Rx7.

He gives us a 'holier than thou' look and starts talking to us like children. "Oh... The R X 7... Yeah, that was the bosses personal car--and he goes on to start telling us about Rx7's, while we correct him under our breath and just look at each-other... The guy was totally clueless and wanted $22k for a stock, 70k mile VR R1. We ask him if we can maybe go on a test-drive, and he said that for us to test-drive it, we'd have to sign the papers.

Needless to say, we slowly rolled through that dealership parking lot about 3 weeks later in THIS car just to spite them. R1 with 60k miles for $14.5k. We just shook our heads as they gawked.

Morons... And it's still sitting there over a year later.

I bought it about 2 months ago from a guy in Mill Creek. Needless to say I have been extremely happy with it. I do have some pics, they were in another thread earlier in the NW section. I just can't post em' right now, on a different computer. Thanks for the comments!!

Stock STi's are good for 13.4-13.1's, the one you raced did not have a very experienced driver.. Sad to see this is the kind of place that makes fun of people with 35,000 dollar performance sedans getting beat by modded sports cars that are a few years older. Most of the people buying theese cars, buy them for the name and look and have no idea what they are doing, especially EVO owners. On the other hand I own an 05 EVO MR edition, it runs 12.2@110 with only a reflash and exhaust..BONE STOCK original otherwise..The cars deserve the credit, but most drivers are not up to par with the cars performance..

Yeah, some dude ran a 12.9 stock in his STi, dumping the clutch ofcourse. But my brother has a 03 bug eyed WRX and ran a 13.32 in the 1.4 and all he has is full exhaust and ecu reflash. The AWD really depends on if the person can launch it or not. that launch is crucial to determine the 1/4 time.

How the AWD cars get their best times is by flat shifting. I don't think I'll ever risk doing that with my car.

You're not making anyone feel bad, just showing your ignorance. The guy that bought the STI could have bought 10+ FC's with the money, but he didn't WANT to. He probably wanted a solid 4-door that can be driven in any conditions while being able to destroy most others around the track and down the straight while being bone stock. Do you think he cares if he's missing out on a notoriously unreliable gas guzzling 2 seater that's decently modded? His FC is at least 18 years old btw, and I'd give more credit to the drivers than anything, since I too have seen 12.9 timeslips from bone stock STI's.

^ the gt500 is an acception the thing weights 2 tons. Like i said just wait till they are modded, you can expect "supra like" reliablility when you start boosting high with that cast iron block.

and the mustang gt runs a 13.3-13.2. that has 300hp.
The z06 runs an 11.4 its 505.

but i definatley see where your coming from

I don't know how they get that 12.9 out of the sti, never seen a stock one pull anywhere near that time, most run mid/high 13's @ 103ish. Furthermore, stock turbo'd sti's are a dog above 100 mph imo. Take the sti to an autox or roadcourse, that is where they shine!

I hear the 06 ones run 12.9 with a perfect launch and shift. The pros run them at 12.9-13.0. And the gt500 is $47,800 by the way, not 60k.

I'd just like to say this... Drag racing is fun, but not nearly as fun as gettin sideways through some gnarly corners... nothin beats it.

With that said the Rx7 doesnt have to be faster on the 1/4 mile to be a better car in my book. So when i see someone with a 3000GT bragging about 1/4 mile times that are just slightly faster than an rx7 i just have to laugh and wonder if that guy really knows what he is missing out on...

I mean 3000GTs are hands down the STUPIDEST car japan has ever produced, i'm talking ALL ***** and NO BRAINS. The damn thing is a boat and theres just nothing you can do to make it stand up to a rx7 through some corners.

What is the only japanese car to ever win the american lemans.... mazda rx7.
What car companies dont even try to compete in big league american races... Mitsubishi and subaru, ever wonder why?

1/4 mile times dont mean ****. Like i said drag racing is fun but its no gauge for a quality sports car.. not by a long shot.
