i am all for a v8 swap. power for less money = . i was asking purely for informative reasons if the vert was a better setup for a v8 swap or if is was just a personal desire to have the vert with a v8

First off it is his car to do what he pleases with. If he wants to put a V8 in it, then so be it.

Second, the V8 swap does not "ruin" the handling of the car, as was already pointed out. I'd like to further note that the LS1/LT1 swap does however change the car's polar moment a wee bit but a professional driver would be able to sense that difference on a track the first corner he hits. For someone as mindless as you, you'd never know.

Lastly, V8s are not synonomous with mullets. If so, please tell Honda, Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Porsche and Ferrari that.

Stop riding the rotary bandwagon. All you little kiddies blindly love the rotary and you don't even know why, other than it's "different". Well different isn't always better. Don't get me wrong. I love my CYM RX-7 but if the motor ever popped in it, a LS-6 would probably find its way in there so fast it'd make you rotary-worshipping kiddies blush
first off I'm no kiddie second of all we are on an rx-7 website so I think us "rotary bandwagoners" have a right to be here more so then you v8 swap guys but I don't care you like your v8's and thats fine just don't go calling me a kiddie just because I would rather have a rotary in my rotary experiment - 7. Now why do you think people like rotaries and don't know why??? That is just a bone headed statement if I've ever heard one. The rotary engine is differant from a v8 in so many differant ways you would have to be a dumb *** not to know why you like it more than a v8.

I still wanna see the fastest V8 RX7 vs the fastest Rotary 7. I agree V8 swaps are not even shocking anymore. In street applications they really are not any faster than any other decently modded car. Ya I know top fuel and all that but who cares, those are not on the street and non of us will ever be driving them. I say we ban the other motor sub forum and all piston heads from our rotary forum. The freaking engineers at Mazda said the car was built around the rotary but I guess they were wrong. We have Joe Dirt in here with his mullet who knows more than the engineers at Mazda. LOL whatever. Next time post some real RX7s not these 1/2 breed mutts.

A stock LS1/T-56 combo into a FC or FD will push the car into the deep 12s. These engines have the capability of laying down 500RWHP without extensive mods ( good cam/head setup), with the torque to match. This is all while retaining a nice, very drivable, emissions compliant car that will last many, many more miles than a equally modded rotary. Did I mention while still getting ~25-30MPG? We arent talking about you uncles old 305 in his '78 pickup, the LS1 is a very modern, all-aluminum engine, capable of serious power. Dont get me wrong, I love the rotary to death, and will always own a rotary car .. but I wont let that blind me from seeing the potential in the LS1. Can a rotary make as much power.. sure. Will it last as long, be as drivable, pass emissions, get better gas milage, make more torque... NO!

yeah I know when you push alot of hp out of a small displacement motor it is destine to pop but that is what makes it special to me that a 1.3L rotary engine can pump out as much hp as those big v8's. Now I tell you what for some reason I have always wanted to put a supra TT engine in one and pump out 1200hp out of it, now that would be fun but I'm just more partial to smaller engines beating the **** out of big ones. I think it stems back to always rooting for the underdog no matter what sport it is and to me a smaller displacement engine kicking the crap out of a v8 is just very satisfying to me

I am one of those "mullet wearin" guys with my car I guess, but I have no problem with that! Sure, rotaries are cool and the few of you who know how to actually make one have a right to say something. I am learning how to rebuild one and do have respect for them but 26 mpg and running a 12.3 isn't bad. I have seen a P-port rx3 running 12's, but before we left to the track we filled up with 112 octane! line up the fastest v8 rx7 with the rotary and I know where my money will be. And yes, mazda never meant for this to happen, but it is AMAZING how easy they made it for a LS1 in an FC or a 5.0 in a miata. Well, I am off to go work on my half breed mutt of a car!

OK...first of all with small blocks you get waaaay more performance for the money thank you very much. I'm currently making about 400rwhp without major mods..and with no turbos/superchargers or nitrous... Add a T88 and its all over for you rotary friends..no offense, but there is nothing better about rotary than a small block..for the exception that its unique..but does that make it better? i dont think so... most sports cars dont have rotaries, think about that

400 HP small block would spank 400 hp rotary all over the place..
I know my FC has the best power/money ratio on this forum..so lets speak from facts not stupid kiddie love for rotary

also most people leave their 350s in rx7s stock..rotary people mod and get bigger turbos and say its faster than stock ls1...yeah okay let me put those money in my motor ...
oh oh

and forgot to say it weights same as turbo fc and gets 26+mpg
kthx

I dont hate the rotary, but i hate people that go "omg its rx7 it has to have rotary and you cant swap motors out for v8.."

rxmfn7 i dont have no turbos...motor only runs 12.1 while spinning throughout 1st and 2nd (4:10 gears btw)...needs bigger tires.

v8 has wider power band also

ok, maybe i came off like a dick, but i just like my rotary. altho i'm not really for v8 swaps, if i'd see one in person then sweet i just like the rotary too much to like v8's i live in redneckville so that is also why i don't like them...especially in rx7's

actually, I have seen a FD with a single turbo 13b-rew hit the low 12's, it all depends on your Budget, a LS1 swap would be cheaper than to do all than work on a rotary to make it just as fast, it all depends on your budget.

Really? So this soon to be completed 8second street car isn't impressive? What full interior 13b wants any piece of that?

Just as a heads up...he's a retired Marine. So of course he doesn't have a Mullet. He still sports the military style cut. But yeah, you must be right...no one is into fast cars here. They only want to see rotary powah forevah yo.
